Set near the scenic Tooting Bec Common, the Tooting Looking Glass Day Nursery and Preschool in Tooting Bec is conveniently located a 10 minute walk from Tooting Bec Station, and a short drive to Tooting town centre. They also have a buggy storage area to make pick-up and drop-off as easy for you as possible.

As a first time mum, the process of finding nurseries that suit my child's needs was difficult. My child settled very quickly and I've never looked back. Very helpful and very accommodating. I am always at ease. Happy child = happy mum!

Looking Glass made December very festive. Lots of relevant arts and crafts, a very good Christmas party, Christmas jumper day and Christmas lunch.

My daughter started Bright Horizons Nursery in August 2017 and we have noticed a big difference in her development, socially and cognitively. She now enjoys being here and appears to have settled in well. The staff are very caring and interested in my daughter's learning. This gives me peace of mind
so I can go to work without any concern about her welfare.

So initially, I had a few minor things that I wasn't 100% happy with. I spoke with staff members regarding this, and was made to feel secure and assured things would be in place in order to make changes. Within a couple of weeks, I saw many positive changes that made me feel so happy and comfortable
with the choice of leaving my son here. This enabled us to build an even better rapport with staff members. Now 100% happy.

Over the last two years, our son has immensely enjoyed attending Looking Glass Nursery. From 6 months old, he had a varied diet of activities, a learning journey and caring staff throughout the team. He especially enjoyed the 2-year-old room, as there were many outsourced specialist activities from
the sports coach, to theatre and yoga bugs.


The staff are very enthusiastic about everything they do and I have been very happy with their levels of care and duty towards our son.
If we weren't moving he would be there until school age, the hours also provide flexibility for early starts. He has developed a lot, the last week his health visitor said he was advanced in all areas from gross to fine motor, vocab and soc/EMT. He certainly became a much less fussy eater and I think he gets a better diet there than at home! He is a confident and thriving boy and I believe this is due to the confidence every member of staff instils through appropriate use of praise, encouragement and challenge.

Since my son has moved into the older rooms, I am amazed by how much he is learning. I am always kept up to date with the topics they are doing as a group but also what his key worker is doing to support him individually with his learning and needs.
My son has been at Looking Glass for one and a half
years and have had nothing but good experiences.
The management team are very helpful and easy to approach.

My son has been in Bright Horizons, Tooting since he was thirteen months. From the first day, he was loved and cared for by all the staff. The main selling point for the nursery (along with lovely staff) is the big garden. The children get a good mixture of structured play and free play. I am sorry
to be leaving.

For a large nursery Looking Glass manages to provide a very personal and individual level of care for the children. Our son has been going since he was 8 months old and been loved, nurtured and cared for throughout his time at Looking Glass. The outside facilities are brilliant and very unusual for
a nursery in this built up area of London. It is very special to see the bonds that develop between staff and children and amongst the children themselves.

I am very happy with the Looking Glass and will be sending both children there. I'm always impressed with all the staff especially how they know everyone and all the children's names for such a big building. Everyone is friendly and seem to really care about the children. My friends cannot believe that
my son is only 2 and has already had yoga and IT lessons. I'm so glad we picked Looking Glass.

I am happy that my son enjoys nursery and is settled with the carers in his room.
I like the fact there are lots of messy play activities but it is disappointing that there will no longer be music sessions on Wednesdays.
I hope that 'yoga bugs' will continue.

We are delighted with the care from the lovely ladies in the sunflower room. They are dedicated to my daughter's development health and wellbeing and we couldn't ask for better key persons.
In general, the nursery is great. I would encourage more vegetables in the daily menu and we are looking forward
to hearing about more replacements to the external music/teachers/learning aids. We are disappointed at the level of increase in fees of which we have voiced to the office.

There is definitely improvement required at this nursery, during the last couple of months there has been numerous silly errors from the management side - one being no keys available to open the door to the nursery in the morning, which resulted in ALL the children being dropped off and kept in the
garden in the freezing cold, until the key holder turned up. I was not happy about this at all, especially having to leave my kids in the cold. I have 2 at the nursery. I am also not happy with the amount of staff leavers recently.

My son has just started at the nursery and we have a 3-year-old here already. We are very happy with the staff and their communication. Obviously, the cost is an issue - across the board - but that is government thing - more than any individual nursery.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

I joined my first Bright Horizons nursery in September 2014 and was drawn in by the Growing Readers programme which embodied everything I loved about inspiring children to develop their love of reading and gave me the tools to make the learning experience truly fantastic. Even as the manager I still take the time to have story times with the children when I can. I have an absolute passion for open-ended, loose parts and heuristic play. I love adding natural resources such as flowers, leaves, herbs and sticks to enhance children’s learning experiences and really engage the imagination.


I am very environmentally conscious and try to be as sustainable as possible, reusing tins from the kitchen and all the packaging that comes into the nursery. I enjoy finding imaginative things to do with them. I am a very hands-on leader who loves to inspire my team with great ideas for activities.

I am the Deputy Manager and the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) at Tooting Looking Glass Day Nursery.


I have over 10 years of experience working with children and I hold a level 3 in Child Care and Education.
Before I joined Bright Horizons I was a manager of a smaller nursery, I have experience as a learning support assistant and senior nursery nurse in the primary education sector supporting classroom teachers and children of different ages. My role as a SENCO can be varied - I am responsible for assessing, planning and monitoring the progress of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). I support the identification of children with special educational needs and coordinate provision for them too. I also liaise with parents and with other providers such as outside agencies, educational psychologists, health visitors and speech therapists to ensure we are supporting the children in the best way possible. I create support plans for children and organise tailored activities/interventions to support their development.


My role as Deputy is to assist Terry in providing professional leadership and management of the nursery. I promote the health, safeguarding and well-being of children as well as being a role model to other staff to deliver high-quality experiences and care for the children.
