Set near the scenic Tooting Bec Common, the Tooting Looking Glass Day Nursery and Preschool in Tooting Bec is conveniently located a 10 minute walk from Tooting Bec Station, and a short drive to Tooting town centre. They also have a buggy storage area to make pick-up and drop-off as easy for you as possible.

My experience of this nursery is very poor. If your child is quiet and requires more attention to engage then this is not the nursery for you.
Children are pretty much left to play how they would like with no structure. The engagement from the staff to the children is basic at best. The staff do not
follow any curriculum or approved teaching methods.
Very sad.

In the past 12 months (since my child joined), there has been a change in management, and whenever there is change, naturally, there's apprehension.
However, the change has been tremendous. There's renewed vigour throughout, and the team have introduced some great new rooms for the children. It seems
there's a long-term vision for the nursery, which takes time, and some of the initiatives introduced have been smart.
One thing that would complement the great work underway is a bit more TLC from HQ when it comes to the upkeep of the nursery. A freshen-up and lick of paint in certain areas would be advisable.

The changes at nursery are great. We love the fact that learning is child-led and children have the opportunity to choose activities and play.

Daughter has been with the nursery for over three years since the age of seven months and has had a wonderful experience. The entire staffing team are warm, caring and supportive of both parents and children and the atmosphere created is so welcoming. Outside space is incomparable in relation to other
nurseries in the area. She comes home every day with stories about the fun she’s had and her development has been noticeable, especially over the past few months at preschool. Any worries I’ve had are dealt with quickly and efficiently. We will be sad to leave her Bright Horizons Tooting Looking Glass family when she goes to school!

I enrolled my daughter in this nursery thinking it was the best. Only in the first session, I received terrible attention, I don't know, if because I'm black, they didn't even bother to show me the place. I had to insist, like begging them. My daughter's classroom was on the corner, in front of the
street and when I arrived I could see that she was crying badly. Once I received my baby she was red and her voice was broken. She immediately fell asleep in my arms. The worst part was when she woke up at home, she had a bad breath, a disinfectant smell that came from her mouth. The rest of the day she was gassy and got some fever. I had to brush her mouth because the smell was awful, like iodine and other awful smell like poop, no sure but It was awful. In the end, after asking them via mail very politely what she ate, they didn't even bother to call me. I decided to take her out of the nursery for her well-being.

Our son has had a lovely first year at Bright Horizons Tooting Bec. Over that time he has developed into a bright and happy toddler which no doubt been thanks to all the help and support he gets from his carers at the nursery as well as the wide array of activities and games he participates in daily.

The looking glass day nursery is an amazing place. My son enjoys every minute he spends there and always comes home extremely happy. We were very nervous at first when looking to put our little one in daycare. But having visited this nursery and meeting the lovely staff, it gave us some comfort. The setting is lovely with caring and understanding staff. The staff does innovative activities with children. Children learn routines very quickly from the staff. My three-year-old daughter attends nursery once a week. She is looked after by the staff very well. As a parent, I am happy to say that
she learnt to sit down at the table during mealtimes at the nursery. She is slowly picking up on her speech.

My son has settled in so well. As parents are not allowed into the nursery the team has gone above to ensure not only my son is happy, but us as parents too. The management has been excellent with parents and really helpful. I can't recommend this nursery enough.

My 3-year-old son recently joined the Bright Horizons nursery, and he has settled in very well. I'm very comfortable and satisfied with the service provided by the staff. They seem to engage young children extremely well, and there are lots of different activities happening which are good for my son's

Job Title: Nursery Manager

I joined my first Bright Horizons nursery in September 2014 and was drawn in by the Growing Readers programme which embodied everything I loved about inspiring children to develop their love of reading and gave me the tools to make the learning experience truly fantastic. Even as the manager I still take the time to have story times with the children when I can. I have an absolute passion for open-ended, loose parts and heuristic play. I love adding natural resources such as flowers, leaves, herbs and sticks to enhance children’s learning experiences and really engage the imagination.


I am very environmentally conscious and try to be as sustainable as possible, reusing tins from the kitchen and all the packaging that comes into the nursery. I enjoy finding imaginative things to do with them. I am a very hands-on leader who loves to inspire my team with great ideas for activities.

I am the Deputy Manager and the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) at Tooting Looking Glass Day Nursery.


I have over 10 years of experience working with children and I hold a level 3 in Child Care and Education.
Before I joined Bright Horizons I was a manager of a smaller nursery, I have experience as a learning support assistant and senior nursery nurse in the primary education sector supporting classroom teachers and children of different ages. My role as a SENCO can be varied - I am responsible for assessing, planning and monitoring the progress of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). I support the identification of children with special educational needs and coordinate provision for them too. I also liaise with parents and with other providers such as outside agencies, educational psychologists, health visitors and speech therapists to ensure we are supporting the children in the best way possible. I create support plans for children and organise tailored activities/interventions to support their development.


My role as Deputy is to assist Terry in providing professional leadership and management of the nursery. I promote the health, safeguarding and well-being of children as well as being a role model to other staff to deliver high-quality experiences and care for the children.
