My experience at the time I came here was really great, it was very relaxing just reasoning with the members of staff who have been very lovely and professional towards both children and parents.
Just sitting and talking and watching the staff, I'm confident that with my child attending this nursery,
he will improve in areas that he needs to. I am also confident that he will be happy and enjoy his time here.

My son is very happy here, he loves the staff in pre-school, but still very much loves staff from his previous rooms.
All staff are very attentive and smiley. They're always ready with a big welcome. We've used this nursery with our eldest son, so seven years in total and have always been very happy.

My son has attended The Looking glass nursery since he was one year old. He has settled in very well and enjoys attending each day. In each room, he has formed a strong and special bond with his key worker and the room leader in particular, which is great to see.
All staff are friendly and welcoming
in his room.
The opening hours of the nursery are also very useful as this facilitates my work day.

Looking Glass is a wonderful nursery. We have been thrilled by the quality of early years care enjoyed by both our children at every stage of the nursery. The whole environment is centred on the needs of the child. Every key worker has struck a great balance between getting to know our kids as individuals,
caring for their needs and guiding them in their learning. I have and will continue to recommend Looking Glass as a safe, loving and enjoyable nursery for parents to place their kids. The fantastic outside space, quality of the menu and lengthy opening hours are a real bonus on top of everything else.

I have been really happy with the staff at Looking Glass Day Nursery I was apprehensive about my 2 year old son attending a nursery while quite young. I found them very helpful and approachable as my son can be quite difficult to settle and needs a while to get used to different situations. I would
never choose a different nursery and I am very sad we've had to leave. I'm grateful for everything they have done to make it easier.

My son started when he was 10 months old in the baby room and now at 2.5 years old he is in the 2-3 year old room. My second son has just started at 11 months old and both my husband and I couldn't be happier with the service we have received. Our children are incredibly happy and excited to go to nursery,
and have been from day one. All the staff are incredibly warm and caring and very responsive to the children. Even though it's a big nursery they seem to know all the names of the children and hugs are given out to each and every one. The garden is MASSIVE and split to appropriate age groups, all the food is made on site and the handover at the end of the day is detailed.

As we are moving we have looked at a few nurseries and I can honestly say nothing compares to this nursery - it's very clean, warm and welcoming - highly recommend.

Brilliant Nursery. I have had an amazing experience sending my child there. My daughter has a lot of separation anxiety and used to cry to the extent where she would throw up. After a year in nursery, she still cries when we drop her off in the morning. The staff has been amazingly patient with her
in the entire year where they would lift her up and console her, bring her back to her normal self before putting her down. They have done this everyday without complaint for the last one year. They are very patient and caring and look after the kids very well. They have helped my child become more outgoing and her learning curve has been amazing. I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone, and if you get sent to Bluebells room you are all set and don't need to worry about anything. The staff are very stable here in the nursery and carers are brilliant. If you get your child in any room monitored by these guys, go for it :)

Management are very helpful. They are very understanding towards my needs and what I require the nursery to provide for my child. The nursery is very safe and I feel secure leaving child in the nursery's capable hands. The staff in her room are amazing and very friendly and plan wonderful activities
daily for my child to be stretched and grow.

All members of staff are friendly and approachable. Generally facilities appear well maintained and good focus on both indoor and outdoor activities. Room manager very competent, helpful, friendly but overstretched as supporting team possibly not appropriately trained or at a relevant level for age
of children (pre-school) particularly one special needs individual in the room who possibly requires 1 on 1 supervision ideally I understand this may not be possible but more support for enthusiastic team would help.

Lovely nursery with good staff. There's always a lot of staff in the room, which gives a good combination of support and attention, but they also allow independent play, which is great for the children as well.

The toys are all in good condition and help with the kids developments. The rooms are

tidy (well not at food time or messy play!!) and clean. They also have a lovely outside area, surprisingly big for a London nursery.

Both my children really enjoy going (I don't work, I choose to take them here for a couple of afternoon's as it's a great setting for them and they definitely benefit from the interaction with other kids, and time away from their mummy!)

First impressions always count. When we first entered my husband and I loved the warm reception. The staff made us feel so welcomed. The atmosphere was lovely, very baby friendly, lots of space and activities. Every day the staff will tell me of my daughter's progress which was really great to know.
Their safeguarding policy is really good and I know my daughter is in great hands.

Looking Glass is a wonderful and caring nursery. All the staff are warm welcoming and know the children so well. They are always happy to take the time to discuss your child and their progress. The learning journey of each child is really well documented and each child gets a written report card each
day. My daughter has gained so much confidence and learnt so many skills in her 18 months at Looking Glass. She loves going to school in the morning. I feel so lucky to have found this nursery and I recommend it to everyone I know. It is so comforting knowing that I can go to work in the knowledge that my daughter is safe and happy.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.094)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.094) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Tooting Looking Glass Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 13 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.852 for Bright Horizons Tooting Looking Glass Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (140 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 155 Ratings = 4.852
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.242 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Tooting Looking Glass Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 13 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.825
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 156 number of registered child places is 31.2. 13 Positive Reviews ÷ 31.2 = 0.417
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Deputy Manager and the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) Joined: 2021

I am the Deputy Manager and the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) at Tooting Looking Glass Day Nursery.

I have over 10 years of experience working with children and I hold a level 3 in Child Care and Education.
Before I joined Bright Horizons I was a manager of a smaller nursery, I have experience as a learning support assistant and senior nursery nurse in the primary education sector supporting classroom teachers and children of different ages. My role as a SENCO can be varied - I am responsible for assessing, planning and monitoring the progress of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). I support the identification of children with special educational needs and coordinate provision for them too. I also liaise with parents and with other providers such as outside agencies, educational psychologists, health visitors and speech therapists to ensure we are supporting the children in the best way possible. I create support plans for children and organise tailored activities/interventions to support their development.

My role as Deputy is to assist Terry in providing professional leadership and management of the nursery. I promote the health, safeguarding and well-being of children as well as being a role model to other staff to deliver high-quality experiences and care for the children.
