3 of my children have been here spanning the last 9 years.
This is an exceptional nursery, a great start for all my children. They've been here from 8 weeks old all the way through to leaving to go to school.
The dedication of the staff is second to none, with Susan, Hannah, Tania and Olwen being
key to all of my children, they were also a great support to the whole family during some very difficult times.
Could not recommend this nursery but especially these people enough.
Leaving your children is always hard, but when they are left with people who go above and beyond and care for them just like you would its just that bit easier.
Can not thank them enough for what they did for my family.

Ruskington First Steps is a top class nursery, they have been amazing with our daughter since the moment she started at 9 months. The staff are friendly, personal and always happy to help. They know our little girl inside out. Whenever there is an issue they are quick to resolve. They go above and beyond
in all areas, the effort that was put into a birthday card for our daughter's older brother was amazing. It would be remiss of me to not comment on the exceptional work ethic and attitude of all the staff but specifically the deputy manager who was our daughter's key worker and supported her through settling in period amazingly and continues to care and support her now! 10/10!!!!

My partner and I have been delighted with Kindred First Steps (Ruskington) since our daughter started there several months ago. She looks forward to going each day she's in and it's so reassuring for us to know that she's happy there. The staff are amazing and our daughter couldn't be in better hands.
Communication is excellent and includes brief handover info at pick up, more detailed written feedback in the booklet, photos and reports in the app, as well as timely responses to any emails. There are lots of varied activities throughout the day and regular opportunities to play outside where there is plenty of space and equipment. Our daughter enjoys each day at nursery and that speaks volumes.

Olwen & Susan, along with all the other members of staff, truly care for the children as if they were their own. My daughter absolutely loves going in and runs straight to them, which is amazing to see when you're trusting someone else to care for your child. It's so reassuring to know she feels happy,
safe, and well looked after.

We couldn't be happier with the care our son receives here. From day one, the staff made us feel like family. It's so heartening to see him run into his classroom with a smile every morning. The teachers are genuinely invested in his happiness and development, and we feel so lucky to have found such
a nurturing environment for his early years.

The staff are always friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which makes a big
difference. It's clear they genuinely care about the children and create a positive, supportive environment for them to learn and grow.
My daughter always comes home happy after her day at nursery. It's reassuring as a parent to know she is enjoying her time there and being well looked after. I would definitely recommend First Steps Nursery to other parents.

After so many recommendations from family, friends and colleagues we never had any doubt that we would send our children to First Steps. It has such a fantastic reputation in the local area. My little boy joined in April 2024 and has thrived in their care. It is a fantastic nursery with brilliant provision
and kind, caring staff who get to know the children so well! They have a fantastic space and outdoor area which is always used to support the children's learning and development. We are so happy we chose First Steps.

First Steps is an incredible nursery, and we feel genuinely lucky to send our children there.

From day one, the team have been warm, patient, and truly invested in helping each child feel safe and confident. Our little one's settled in so quickly thanks to the nurturing atmosphere and the way the

staff take time to understand each child's personality.

The facilities are clean and well organised with a lovely outdoor space to maximise time spent outdoors which our children love. The activities are creative, varied, and thoughtfully planned, and we've seen such a positive boost in confidence, communication, and independence. They love going in every morning and come home full of stories about what they've been up to, and especially the food they've eaten!

Our children have flourished at First Steps, and we would confidently recommend it to any family seeking high quality childcare.

Ruskington First Steps is a lovely nursery where both of my children have attended. The dedicated and friendly staff make the nursery what it is. They genuinely care about the children, they have a smile on their faces every day and it's clear they have a wonderful relationship with the children. My
son started in preschool and he was a shy little boy but settled in quicker than expected due to the time and effort of the staff. My daughter has attended since she was a few months old and she has grown in confidence. They offer a range of activities daily, my daughter especially loves singing and dancing with the staff. I find their policies to be fair and I feel my child is safe and well looked after.

My daughter started Nursery last year. I was really nervous about her going for long days but the staff are all very friendly. I have seen my daughter blossom being in the nursery setting. There were some very minor issues at the beginning but they were addressed efficiently and professionally. And
the same issues never reoccurred. Food is hit and miss, she generally enjoys the food but some snack options I don't see her enjoying. All the staff interact well with my daughter and she goes in in the morning with open arms. It's very reassuring for me. Recently they have been enjoying time out in the secure garden which I'm really pleased about. Overall happy. I would like to see more photos being uploaded to her profile and some observations of her progress with learning. My daughter is happy and that's the main thing.

On the whole I have no major concerns with the nursery and my children appear to enjoy being in the setting. However the meal choices are poor and to expect a 10 month old to eat a tuna sandwich is not acceptable or an appropriate choice. I accept that the staff cannot warm up several children's meals
but more child friendly meals should be made available which are equally as healthy as ones currently on offer. I also feel in comparison to other settings I have been to, the updates on child development is not great and also updates on their activities including pictures is not reported to parents and is done very sparingly. The setting in my opinion has gone very much down hill since the change of ownership and it is a shame as I feel it was not for the better.

In terms of improvements which would make it a lot more appealing are:
- better meal choices
- better updates on child activities
- better developmental updates
- more photos available on child activities

Reply from Niki McCormick, Marketing Admin at Building Blocks KindergartenThank you for taking the time to leave a review, we really do appreciate hearing honest feedback from our parents and carers. We've looked into your comments in more detail and have identified where we can improve, particularly around how we record children's development and how we communicate this with families. We'll be addressing this with the whole team, and I'm confident you'll start to notice positive changes in these areas.
Our menus are also due to be updated for the Spring/Summer period. When designing these we have taken feedback from hundreds of families in our recent family survey. Alongside this, we plan the menus to follow the new Early years nutritional guidelines. For babies our chef will modify and serve the menu accordingly to ensure it is age appropriate, for example blended meals for weaning or finger foods etc . As soon as the new versions are finalised, we will share them with all parents, and we'd love to hear your thoughts once you've had a chance to see them.

Son attended for one day. He has a severe milk allergy. When I collected was told he has eaten several milk based produce. He was ill for several days. When I questioned him being given milk. One of the managers stated she has investigated and he definitely had not had milk, even sending me photos
of the dairy free boxes of food. I felt this was wrong due to his symptoms and a additional investigation was carried out by another manager and he had been given at least 3 types of food containing milk. I took him out and have had to chase for my money back. Only getting it back after chasing several times. If my son was anaphylactic this could have been fatal. Lado, safeguarding and Ofsted informed by myself
Reply from Niki McCormick, Marketing Admin at Kindred Hykeham Nursery and Pre-SchoolWe are sorry for the distress caused to your family. We take allergies extremely seriously and remain committed to the highest standards of care.We carried out a thorough review with external safeguarding partners (Local Authority Designated Officer, LADO), which has now been formally closed.Settling-in sessions normally confirm key information, including the 'All About Me' form, with the team. In this case, the sessions were not taken up, so this step was missed. This stage is vital to ensure we fully understand a child's needs before they start.Since this incident, we have strengthened processes:- Refresher training on allergy management & mealtime procedures.- Reissuing key policies.- Regular allergen audits & peer observations.- A stronger new starter logging system.- More visits from our Area Manager. We also followed our complaints procedure in line with safeguarding responsibilities. These steps further strengthen the safe, consistent care we are committed to delivering.

Staff are really friendly and compassionate. Everything the staff do with the children is led by fun, curiosity and promoting good values. I honestly cannot fault the lovely team of staff and their clean and safe environment.I have no regrets in choosing this nursery for my little boy.
I really recommend
this nursery! ..but they are clearly very busy (popular!) and stretched to maximum capacity which is why records of food/sleep/nappies etc aren't always complete and general updates/photos are scarce
Reply from Niki McCormick, Marketing Admin at Kindred Hykeham Nursery and Pre-SchoolThank you for your kind review and recommendation. We love what we do and it's quite simply all about our children and giving the best chance to grow and thrive through the creation of moments of awe and wonder. You are correct we are extremely busy and the children will always come first in these instances. However, we note your comments on updates and feedback and this will be passed on to the management team as we know that you would want to know what your little one is up to whilst in there home from home.

Since my child has started attending Kindred they have come on leaps and bounds. The learning facilities are incredible and transmissible... It is very evident that the staff are passionate about their jobs.
Every time I pick my child up or drop them off, they are greated with warm smiles or I am provided
with a detailed handover about their day.
Throughout the day there are updates provided on the app too, something I can show my child's grandparents when we visit.

My child is always excited to attend nursery and looks forward to it every day - this speaks volumes about the environment which they are in. I'm always at ease knowing they are safe and being inspired to achieve their potential.

The management team have been incredibly supportive and they are approachable, friendly and understanding.

I've recommended this nursery to other parents and will continue to do so.

My son attends 2 days a week and was fully welcomed. He is quite shy and timid and they have worked really well supporting him in the setting. They do a range of activities throughout the days, updating what they have been doing. As parents, we are updated which is fab, as well as specific observations
to my child on bow they are getting on.
The food is amazing, the variety they get is fantastic and my son always eats it plus seconds, so he is never hungry. They get the opportunity to go outside as well as supporting getting them school ready. We have recently had a parents evening, which i wasn't expecting, with my sons key worker being very prepared, speaking about strengths and areas where we can support at home. He is treated as an individual, not just another student.

Our daughter really enjoys going to the nursery, she smiles and waves at the nursery workers on arrival. The staff clearly work hard to form bonds with each child. The variety of activities is great within a consistent daily routine that helps her settle. The staff are always friendly and willing to

An excellent nursery! My daughter 2 years old loves going and is so happy when I pick her up. I enjoy taking her and picking her up inside the room she stays in. It's lovely to hear what she has been up to in her session that day. They do so many activities with them, singing dancing and lots of free
play too. The food they get is amazing and I believe it has taught her to experience new tastes and to eat well with the other children. The staff are lovely and the app is great to see photos of what they have been up to. It also tells you what they have eaten and how much! Overall Kindred Hykeham is a great place!
