I have had children at this nursery for 7 years. I could never imagine having my children anywhere else from the day I looked around.
I've just given notice to withdraw my children. A message that wasn't even acknowledged.
The nursery was privately owned and incredible. It was taken over by Kindred and has gone completely downhill.
There are some amazing team members who do an amazing job which make leaving a poor review hard but overall the nursery's performance is poor.
From people appearing to be in rooms to be "bodies" who sit not interested or interacting with the children, to my child coming home with bright yellow wee (on numerous occasions), to going to pick up from a room walking into the garden to not see anyone I recognise, calling my child to leave without any engagement, the bodies (who appear to be making up adult to child ratios) clearly uninterested. Someone did approach from the other room as I walked back through but it was the only face I knew.
My daughter has been going here since she was almost 1 and is now 4 and will sadly soon be leaving to start school. Our daughter has absolutely loved going to nursery throughout her time there and looks forward to her nursery days. Everything is communicated to us clearly and efficiently and the staff are always so friendly and welcoming on drop offs. I can't thank them all enough for making our family's nursery experience 10/10. :)

Communication has always been excellent and I always felt anything I had to say was listened to. They were always flexible with any arrangements I needed to change for work. Their safe guarding was excellent, my children were never just released to people the staff didn't know. My children always told me about new things they learnt and I was always happy to see what great days my children always had at nursery and would encourage people to send their children here too
Our daughter started nursery in April, we have noticed how excited she gets when we arrive at nursery and how willing she is to leave us to go with the amazing staff at drop off. The communication is great, the smile on her face at the end of the day is even better. There are regular photo updates which we love to see. The staff genuinely care and are efficient in reporting any changes they notice. We couldn't have asked for a more caring and welcoming team to help us raise our little girl. The staff are angels and I hope they get the recognition they deserve.

The ladies at the nursery are all absolutely incredible, and my daughter thoroughly enjoys going each day. They have dealt with the change over exceptionally well. Although the nursery isn't what it used to be since the change over to Kindred. Especially with the meals on offer. My child comes home from nursery every day hungry due to meals like tofu, salmon, cous cous, lentils these aren't child friendly foods, this for me is a huge area that needs work. I understand it has to be in line with government requirements but I'm sure there's better meals Kindred can offer. In terms of looking after my child I am beyond satisfied she is getting the best care, as each staff memeber is truly dedicated to their job.
Really happy with the nursery and my daughter loves going. She's settled in really well and she loves going. We've had no issues and the staff are always really friendly and helpful and you can tell they really care about the children.

My little one has been going to this nursery since he was 1 year old, and he's nearly 4 now. All the staff throughout all the rooms have been amazing. Through the transfer of ownership, I had my doubts; however, they have not changed in the slightest. The staff are all still amazing, helpful and supportive not only to my child but to me too. I viewed a few nurseries before this one and have no doubt that this was the right pick.
My son has thrived since being at this nursery. The teachers are phenomenal and their attention to care is what every parent could wish for when taking their child to nursery.
I don't think my son would be ready for pre-school if it wasn't for the staff.

My child has been at the nursery since a few months old. It used to be a privately owned nursery but was purchased by kindred with no warning to staff or parents causing a lot of upset. Since the takeover, activities have dwindled, children are moved up to rooms earlier than usual and staff turnover is high. Like many others, we stayed for consistency for our child's routine, but a lot of the original staff have moved on, which is disappointing. There are new faces every week, with no introductions and no idea who is looking after your child. Whilst my child is happy as they remain with their friends they have grown up with, handovers are basic and minimal activities now. There used to be different activities each term but now all they seem to have is a football session and a library bus. The few existing staff that remain are fantastic.
Nursery management and kindred management however do not like to address issues and are avoidant.

Previously I rated Kindred very highly. Staff turnover has increased and replacements do not have the same level of experience or expertise and also don't seem to stay. It has lost the family feel and have become very business minded. They have adopted "healthy menus" which are served regardless or whether the children will eat or enjoy them. My child eats well but is regularly sent home and we are told they didn't eat their lunch or tea, which we pay additional fees for. I am aware of various parents as well as myself that have queried the menu and are met with no response - which is why I could not give management 5 stars. My child enjoys it and my older child did too - hence why they are still in attendance. I do believe they are genuinely cared for and provided with interesting activities. Facilities are becoming a little worn in places and rooms feeling crowded but I believe a refurb is soon to take place.
Kindred are maximising intake capacity without considering at what cost.

The staff are amazing with my son, me and my partner both need to work full time and knowing he loves going to nursery and loves all the staff there is so important to us. Susan and Olwen are always patient and understanding with him and us, he thrives there and has become so confident in himself!
3 of my children have been here spanning the last 9 years. This is an exceptional nursery, a great start for all my children. They've been here from 8 weeks old all the way through to leaving to go to school. The dedication of the staff is second to none, with Susan, Hannah, Tania and Olwen being key to all of my children, they were also a great support to the whole family during some very difficult times. Could not recommend this nursery but especially these people enough. Leaving your children is always hard, but when they are left with people who go above and beyond and care for them just like you would its just that bit easier.
Can not thank them enough for what they did for my family.

Ruskington First Steps is a top class nursery, they have been amazing with our daughter since the moment she started at 9 months. The staff are friendly, personal and always happy to help. They know our little girl inside out. Whenever there is an issue they are quick to resolve. They go above and beyond in all areas, the effort that was put into a birthday card for our daughter's older brother was amazing. It would be remiss of me to not comment on the exceptional work ethic and attitude of all the staff but specifically the deputy manager who was our daughter's key worker and supported her through settling in period amazingly and continues to care and support her now! 10/10!!!!

My partner and I have been delighted with Kindred First Steps (Ruskington) since our daughter started there several months ago. She looks forward to going each day she's in and it's so reassuring for us to know that she's happy there. The staff are amazing and our daughter couldn't be in better hands. Communication is excellent and includes brief handover info at pick up, more detailed written feedback in the booklet, photos and reports in the app, as well as timely responses to any emails. There are lots of varied activities throughout the day and regular opportunities to play outside where there is plenty of space and equipment. Our daughter enjoys each day at nursery and that speaks volumes.

My daughter attended first steps nursery from the age of 12 months, she always enjoyed going and the staff were amazing with her All staff and management were very supportive whenever we needed them and were always happy to solve any queries I may have had
They supported myself and my daughter through the first steps off her autism Assesment to ensure this was ready to go before she started primary school
If I ever have any more children, I would send them back in a heartbeat

Olwen & Susan, along with all the other members of staff, truly care for the children as if they were their own. My daughter absolutely loves going in and runs straight to them, which is amazing to see when you're trusting someone else to care for your child. It's so reassuring to know she feels happy, safe, and well looked after.

Our child has been attending this nursery for over a year now - they are excited every day to go & I trust the team there whole heartedly.
They look after them so well, they come home happy, fed & content and I couldn't ask for anything more. They are informative & attentive & make every parent and child feel like they are their priority.
