My daughter started Nursery last year. I was really nervous about her going for long days but the staff are all very friendly. I have seen my daughter blossom being in the nursery setting. There were some very minor issues at the beginning but they were addressed efficiently and professionally. And
the same issues never reoccurred. Food is hit and miss, she generally enjoys the food but some snack options I don't see her enjoying. All the staff interact well with my daughter and she goes in in the morning with open arms. It's very reassuring for me. Recently they have been enjoying time out in the secure garden which I'm really pleased about. Overall happy. I would like to see more photos being uploaded to her profile and some observations of her progress with learning. My daughter is happy and that's the main thing.

On the whole I have no major concerns with the nursery and my children appear to enjoy being in the setting. However the meal choices are poor and to expect a 10 month old to eat a tuna sandwich is not acceptable or an appropriate choice. I accept that the staff cannot warm up several children's meals
but more child friendly meals should be made available which are equally as healthy as ones currently on offer. I also feel in comparison to other settings I have been to, the updates on child development is not great and also updates on their activities including pictures is not reported to parents and is done very sparingly. The setting in my opinion has gone very much down hill since the change of ownership and it is a shame as I feel it was not for the better.

In terms of improvements which would make it a lot more appealing are:
- better meal choices
- better updates on child activities
- better developmental updates
- more photos available on child activities

Reply from Niki McCormick, Marketing Admin at Building Blocks KindergartenThank you for taking the time to leave a review, we really do appreciate hearing honest feedback from our parents and carers. We've looked into your comments in more detail and have identified where we can improve, particularly around how we record children's development and how we communicate this with families. We'll be addressing this with the whole team, and I'm confident you'll start to notice positive changes in these areas.
Our menus are also due to be updated for the Spring/Summer period. When designing these we have taken feedback from hundreds of families in our recent family survey. Alongside this, we plan the menus to follow the new Early years nutritional guidelines. For babies our chef will modify and serve the menu accordingly to ensure it is age appropriate, for example blended meals for weaning or finger foods etc . As soon as the new versions are finalised, we will share them with all parents, and we'd love to hear your thoughts once you've had a chance to see them.

My little boy does an afternoon a week, I have seen the difference since he has started. Very thankful to all the ladies here at Building Blocks Kindergarten. My friend recommended this setting to me and a few others have mentioned how good they are. We are happy with our choice.

Current Review Score: 7.0 (6.965)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.0 (6.965) out of 10 for Building Blocks Kindergarten is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 3.9 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.0 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 3.917 for Building Blocks Kindergarten is calculated as follows: ( (8 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 3.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.048 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Building Blocks Kindergarten is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 104 number of registered child places is 20.8. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 20.8 = 0.048
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
