Situated in the rural area of Chettiscombe, in The Cider Barn, Wooden House Nursery offers high quality early years care and education in a home from home setting.

The nursery has recently undergone an expansion in September 2025, which has included the addition of a brand new pre-school room. This has created additional vacancies for all age groups and allowed for the existing space to be used in a much more flexible way to best meet the needs of all children.
Wooden House is an engaging and stimulating environment, where children are encouraged to be independent, participate and become active leaders of their own learning. Children have direct access to a secure garden outdoors to allow children the chance to explore the natural world and where outdoor learning is a huge part of their every day curriculum.

Following the EYFS curriculum, each day is designed to promote development whilst also ensuring children have fun, socialise with their peers and have the opportunity to explore their own interests which support progress of their next steps.

The team welcome all children and their families to visit the nursery and take a look around, they are sure you will feel right at home from the moment you step through the door.

This is the second setting my daughter has attended in the area. Unfortunately the first didn't work for us. But the difference between the two is huge.
Wooden House is a welcoming warm environment, my daughter struggles with new situations but they are very accommodating to her needs. They've also
been accommodating to the family's needs and adding in extra days where able.
My daughter loves driving into the countryside in the mornings and having the large open spaces indoor and out to play in. They know my daughter well and offer her each time she attends to toys to play with that she enjoys. I receive regular progress about how she is developing, more so that I have with any other settings with my other children.
They have set policies and procedures in place to keep every child safe. Would strongly recommend a visit if searching for a nursery.

Both my children have attended Wooden House Nursery and both of my children love/loved attending the nursery. As a parent I am happy with the friendly, knowledgeable staff that work there. The staff are caring and patient with my son and provide feedback with how he is getting on. Although my eldest
is 8 now, many of the staff that worked with her are still working at the nursery now with my son. The nursery is in a lovely tranquil setting and it has both a large outdoor area and also an outdoor covered area for the children to be in. Overall the nursery is a lovely nursery and my children really enjoy attending.

We searched for a nursery in Tiverton for our first born who was 1. We really liked the setting of the Wooden House Nursery and the Manager was very professional and informative which won us over. Putting our baby boy in their care was amazing - they use the Famly app and give us regular updates, and
I feel like the staff care for every child in their care both professionally and personally. We've had such an amazing experience with the Wooden House and will definitely be using them for our second child too.

The Wooden House is amazing! We currently have our 2nd child there and we are so happy that we found this setting after transferring our 1st child here. The staff are very caring and approachable. They are a fantastic team.


We receive daily photos from the setting and updates of the day's activities

and our child has detailed focus weeks throughout the year to discuss development and progress. The setting is in a beautiful location with a large outdoor area which is perfect for outdoor play and forest school.

I cannot fault Wooden House. Our daughter has been attending for 3 months now and absolutely loves it. She always has a big smile for the staff who are really friendly, welcoming and attentive. Communication with the staff is great.


The range of activities/facilities both indoors and outdoors is

fantastic and our daughter is always trying new things. Her development has really come along since she has been attending the setting.


As a first-time mum, the idea of sending my child to nursery was daunting, but Wooden House made the transition so easy and we are updated daily about what she has been up to through the app.

Wooden House is by far one of the best settings I visited when I started searching for a nursery place. Our daughter is extremely shy, so it was really important to find the right setting that would help build her confidence. The staff have been kind and reassuring and have really helped boost her confidence.
The classrooms are organised, light and spacious and the outdoor space is fantastic! Our daughter sometimes likes to take herself away for quiet time and we felt she would be most comfortable attending this environment compared to any others we visited. Our daughter has attended the setting since April this year and we love seeing photos of all the different activities they've enjoyed each day. The activities are carefully considered and the children all seem to have a lot of fun! We are delighted with how well she has settled in and are so grateful to the staff for the huge amount of care they've given to our little girl.

Wooden House has been absolutely fantastic for our family.
The staff were so incredibly friendly and welcoming. They made the daunting step of returning to work after maternity leave and leaving our baby in a new setting so much smoother. From the moment we completed our forms, there was a clear line
of communication between us and the staff at Wooden House to ensure that they could provide the best care for our son. On top of that, they also offered a few really insightful tips. We get multiple daily updates, keeping us informed of how our son is getting on.
The setting of the nursery is absolutely beautiful. There’s great outdoor space which is utilised most days. Each day, the team have lots of fun and different activities planned that are both entertaining and educational - we love receiving the photos! The rooms are clean and filled with wonderful toys and things for the children to explore.
I couldn’t have asked for a better nursery and am so incredibly grateful!

My daughter has been attending Wooden House nursery since August and she is already so settled and happy. From our very first look around, I knew it would be the perfect place for her. There is such an air of calm throughout the setting and the children have wonderful areas inside and outside to play,
explore and learn. Everyone is so friendly and nurturing, even the members of staff who don't work in her room greet my daughter by her name every morning. Communication is fantastic and we get updates and photographs every day she is there. As first time parents, choosing a nursery felt like the most important decision we could make but the manager and staff genuinely made it so easy. We are so happy that we found Wooden House and would recommend this nursery to anybody.

My daughter has been attending the nursery since she was 8 months old and I can’t fault them. She is always really happy to be there and to see the staff. All the staff are fantastic with her and they have made leaving my baby at nursery as a first time mum a really smooth and positive experience.

From the first visit my son attended, he loved it!
All the staff go above and beyond and are always so friendly and welcoming.
My son has come on so much with his speech and learning.

Great nursery. Our little boy is always so happy to arrive in the morning and has great fun going out in the garden. The staff are brilliant and always go above and beyond always. Great variety of toys for him to access.

A fantastic setting whose staff do so much for our young ones. Our family have had a difficult start to our child's educational journey. The manager accepted our son as a second setting to increase his educational hours. One particular member of staff with her personal connection to my child has made
a huge difference in his journey. Two members of staff have given, time, knowledge and support to our son, and helped push professional groups supporting him forward towards his EHCP assessment. However, my son looks forward to nursery and runs from the car to the nursery door. And leaves with a big smile on his face, giving a certain member of the staff a high 5. Without these two members of staff's involvement, this journey may have been much slower and more painful. We cannot thank them enough.

My son has been attending Wooden House since December, he is thoroughly enjoying himself! He talks about the nursery all the time. All the staff are always so friendly and welcoming, always making time to have conversations with me and my son. He has gained so much confidence since being at Wooden House.
There is always a great range of activities and the children seem to spend a good amount of time outside, which is very important to me and my son! Nursery is a big step for us parents as well as the children but Wooden House has made the transition so much easier for us both. I would highly recommend Wooden House!

My daughter has been at Wooden House since November 2021, she absolutely adores the nursery and all the members of staff. She has progressed extremely well since being within the setting and thoroughly enjoys attending. The nursery is a beautiful setting and has lovely facilities inside and out. Including
a lovely grass area outside, also a sheltered part where the children can play ideal for the colder weather. The team are amazing and always willing to discuss any concerns or events happening within the nursery.
Wooden House keep us updated regularly on their family app with activities and anything we need to know while our child is in their care which makes you feel very relaxed and comfortable when they are in the setting.
I wanted to put her in a nursery to mix and come out of her shell more after the lockdown. This 100% has been the right choice as her personality really does shine through and she is thoroughly happy there.

I decided Wooden House Nursery was my little one's nursery because when I went to view it, all the children looked and were happy. You can not plan this! My little one was helped to settle in with amazing support from all staff and nothing is too much. They always have time outdoors, something my child

A really lovely little nursery, my little boy loves it there and loves the staff. They are all so helpful and caring and made it so easy for him when he started.
They have been great at engaging him with activities and learning, especially when they have noticed him struggling with things (like sitting
still for more than a second!)
I really recommend Wooden House and have already been telling friends with small children to go there.

Our child has absolutely loved Wooden House from day one, at just over two years old, right up until this year when he goes to school. It's an amazing location, but the staff are what really makes it. Each room has given him everything he needs, and we feel like he's treated/spoken to like a person
rather than a toddler/child, which is really nice.

Our son has been attending Wooden House nursery for over a year now and from day one we have always been made to feel welcome. He is so happy there. All of the staff are so nurturing and supportive and they provide him with so much care, attention and positivity. The staff have played a massive part
in helping us apply for the referrals we need for our son. without the help of the nursery, we wouldn't have got where we are today without their help, knowledge and support. I have always found the staff give great feedback and the admin team are very efficient.
I would highly recommend Wooden House Nursery to anyone looking for a nursery in the area and I feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful and happy environment for my son. We Can't wait for our daughter to follow on to such a great nursery.

Absolutely love Wooden House Nursery, couldn't ask for a better setting for my little one to be in. My little one has the best time every time, always very excited to tell me or show what they have made each session. They are always doing the best activities, learning new things each day. Staff are
lovely, helpful, friendly, warm and very supportive with any issues. They have a great outdoor space too, loads of outdoor equipment for all the children to play with.

If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 number of registered child places is 6, which has been reached with 41 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Her long-standing team is a testament to her leadership, as the setting benefits from having many long-standing staff.
