Day Nurseries Owned by YMCA Dulverton Group

Both my children have gone to this nursery and we have only good things to say and we recommend them to everyone. Both our children have been supported through initially being reluctant to attend. The wonderful connections they've made with the staff made them feel safe and gave them the confidence they needed to thrive. The outside grounds are incredible. The updates and pictures show all the wonderful things they're learning and exploring. Staff provide parents with opportunities to explore and understand the EYFS curriculum. Regular assessments help to show how our children are doing. We feel so lucky that we moved to this village and found Barley wood. You can tell the staff and the YMCA group put children and their families as top priority.

Great nursery in an amazing setting for children to play and learn. Lots of outdoor space for them to explore. Both of my children have been here and loved their time. Good friendly staff that really do care about the children. Would definitely recommend sending your child here.

My husband and I are so happy to be sending our son to Barley Wood nursery. Firstly, the setting is so beautiful. With lots of outside space, and the nursery make sure they spend as much time as they can outside - which was really important to us! But most importantly, the staff are wonderful. They make the effort to have different enriching and fun activities each day. They really care about the children and are really personable. Sending your child to nursery can be a really big, scary decision with lots of emotion but we feel really happy sending our son in!

Lots of activities and outside time.

Barley wood has been wonderful for improving our daughter's confidence. Having previously been with a childminder in a setting of 4, she did initially struggle with being in a larger group at nursery but before long coming home and telling us all about her new friends. She is really settled there now. We also love that there is so much emphasis on outdoor place and exploration at Barley Wood. Poppy is always coming home with pockets full of woodland treasures which is what childhood should be about!

All the staff are friendly and approachable, and it's clear how much they care about the children. We'd happily recommend the nursery!

He is plant based and the nursery were so accommodating about dietary requirements and took such care, he always had a varied and healthy menu and he loved his food there. I would definitely recommend this nursery!

I cannot emphasise enough what a fantastic nursery Barley Wood is. Otto absolutely loves his time there and we really feel that the setting has contributed a lot to his development. This is ultimately down to how happy and comfortable he is. The staff are incredible and we feel as though they have made genuine connections with Otto which shine through in the feedback that they provide. Otto loves to be outside and is taken out for woodland walk adventures daily which could not be any better for him. Thank you so very much to you all.

Since our little one joined in April 2026 he has loved every minute of it! He's come on in leaps and bounds, and the daily updates are fantastic we get from the nursery. Highly recommend to anyone looking for childcare.

Yew Trees have provided amazing care & learning opportunities for our son since he was 6 months until school age. He is now totally ready for school having been given a wonderful setting inside & out to learn, grow, make friendships & have a special childcare experience. Yew Trees have balanced the fun, care & learning and we are extremely grateful for this experience for our son.

I will be sad for Gracie to move on, but excited about her next steps that she is fully ready for thanks to the safe, nurturing environment Barley Wood has provided her with over the last few years.

We have had a wonderful experience of Yew Trees where we sent our first child, and our second has now started. The staff are all really special and make the setting really stand out from others in our opinion.

We love the outside area and the opportunities that children have to play outside and do other activities in all weathers.

The food is also excellent and now some is also home grown at the nursery!

Overall a really special place!

Thank you!

We are pleased that we chose Wooden House for our child. We especially liked the rural location and great outdoor space with undercover areas so they can be out in all weathers. All staff have been caring, friendly and informative with excellent communication throughout the day, including reminders which is very helpful! The activities are varied and the snacks are healthy which is great. Overall we would definitely recommend Wooden House Nursery.

Our children are always happy after a day at Yew Trees The staff who look after them are always friendly and keep us up to date. We are going to miss the setting when our daughter starts school and thank the nursey for the effort they went to for the leavers' afternoon tea.

My son started at Wooden House in May 2026 at 12 months. I, like all new parents, was nervous at first how he would cope within the setting and away from me, but he settled beautifully. His key workers have been amazing, providing him with attention and comfort. He now goes to them with open arms each morning. I receive updates daily on the variety of activities he gets up to with his new friends, many of which i would not be able to replicate at home. The baby/toddler room has its own covered garden area, which he loves exploring. I have frequent discussions about his development with his key workers and any areas of support for him are actively worked on in the setting. The office staff at Wooden House are also very supportive, always there to help with finance questions and providing updates for parents on anything from road closures to activity days.

We absolutely love wooden house! Two of our children have been there for 2+ years and have been exceptionally well cared for. Our child with many allergies has been meticulously looked after, staff going above and beyond to ensure she isn't left out of anything because of it. The ladies who look after them are not only friendly and lovely, but professionals who clearly take great pride and care in what they do. We love the mix of experienced, and newly qualified key workers as it brings lots of energetic, fun and educational activities for the children. I also love that we take our own packed lunch, so I know they're getting really nutritional food alongside the healthy snacks that nursery provide. Mine LOVE the outdoor play area, which gets regular updates, and the under cover outdoor play area is great as they can still get outside in the fresh air even when it's raining. I can't fault wooden house and would 10/10 recommend them!

Meadowside is a friendly and welcoming environment with staff who genuinely care about your child. My child loves the varied activities they do such as weekly football sessions and music and movement classes. The staff make you feel welcome as a parent and I love how they make sure to include siblings in conversation. I would recommend Meadowside to any parent looking for a safe, secure setting which will bring joy to your child's day!

We've had such a positive experience at Barley Wood Nursery. Our child started back in April and has settled in so well. The staff are absolutely amazing and communicate with us regularly. They provide great photos and monthly progress reports. Our child's development has come on massively since they've started and they are thriving. We also the location and that they are out in nature every day. Highly recommend Barley Wood!

My son happily goes to nursery and really enjoys his time there. He loves taking part in the different activities and playing with his friends. The caregivers are amazing and take great care of him. They are always patient, attentive, and listen to any concerns I have, which gives me great confidence and peace of mind. I truly appreciate the caring and supportive environment they provide.
