Situated in the rural area of Chettiscombe, in The Cider Barn, Wooden House Nursery offers high quality early years care and education in a home from home setting.

The nursery has recently undergone an expansion in September 2025, which has included the addition of a brand new pre-school room. This has created additional vacancies for all age groups and allowed for the existing space to be used in a much more flexible way to best meet the needs of all children.
Wooden House is an engaging and stimulating environment, where children are encouraged to be independent, participate and become active leaders of their own learning. Children have direct access to a secure garden outdoors to allow children the chance to explore the natural world and where outdoor learning is a huge part of their every day curriculum.

Following the EYFS curriculum, each day is designed to promote development whilst also ensuring children have fun, socialise with their peers and have the opportunity to explore their own interests which support progress of their next steps.

The team welcome all children and their families to visit the nursery and take a look around, they are sure you will feel right at home from the moment you step through the door.

We can't rate Wooden House Nursery and the team highly enough. They took the time to help my daughter settle into the environment when she found the initial transition into nursery a little challenging. They have worked with me to find the best approach for her and provided her with lots of comfort
and support. Our daughter now really enjoys her time at nursery and has built lovely bonds with her carers.
The team provide lots of varied and fun activities for the children and monitors their development closely.
We are really glad we chose Wooden House, I know our daughter is not only safe and genuinely cared for but is also thriving in an engaging setting.

I cannot express how delighted we are to have stumbled across this little gem of a nursery. The staff are all really friendly and professional, they really know their stuff anre helpful and kind.
My son loves his time here. His peach has come on leaps and bounds. He called himself sweet heart when
talking about himself at home, something he has picked up here which says wonders for how they treat the kids.


He also has allergies and they make me feel incredibly safe leaving him in their care and don't let him feel left out of activities. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

I am so so pleased I decided to send my little girl to wooden house. They are so welcoming and great with all the children. They get to know every child's individually and understand their needs.

This nursery has been amazing for both my children, there was no question that my second child would be attending this nursery.
The staff are extremely professional and I feel at ease that my leaving my child in there safe hands.
The setting is also perfect, lots of outdoor space and the occasional
trip to the farm:)

Wooden House Nursery has been an incredibly welcoming environment for my little boy. The staff have been so caring and attentive with him and he loves the access to the outdoor space. I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone.

From the moment I approached this Nursery, the manager and her team made me and the little one feel very welcome. The settle-in sessions went well and we are now 9 months in of my great niece (for which I am guardian of) going to Wooden House Nursery and she loves every day she goes. She is now 19 months
old and attends 3 days a week. The staff are friendly and get to know each child on an individual basis. The staff keep me updated with their progress throughout the day with updates via the app and conversations at drop off and pick. On pick-up little miss is always smiling and happy which is down to the staff and the care and activities they provide.

Both my kids absolutely love Wooden House Nursery. The staff are always so welcoming and attentive to the children's needs. When settling both kids in the staff made an effort to do activities and play with their favourite toys to help them feel more comfortable. They enjoy a wide range of activities
and being outdoor kind of kids, they love the large outdoor play area and the outdoor undercover barn, which ensures they can get outside whatever the weather! Couldn't be happier with this nursery

My son started at Wooden House in September and I cannot recommend this nursery enough! The staff are super friendly and approachable - my son absolutely loves them and will go to them in the mornings with no issues and big smiles. When I pick him up every day, they tell me in detail about how his day
has been and I love the fact that they're constantly updating me on the app about how his day is going/sending pics to show what activities he's been enjoying. The range of activities they offer the children, from plenty of time outside, to problem-solving challenges (my son is only 15 months old and he is tackling challenges already due to their support), they know how to help children grow and succeed. My son has developed massively in the short time he's been at nursery and this is something I see continuing due to the staff's curriculum knowledge and understanding of each child's ability/interests. I know my son has enjoyable experiences every day! I'm so glad I chose Wooden House.

I have found Wooden House to be extremely helpful and often go the extra mile in their care for my daughter. I'm very happy with the care she has received over the last 2 years. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I would not hesitate to recommend it. The nursery itself was quite a long drive
from our home, but I feel it has been worth it. I feel the nursery is very well run and organised. There is good feedback on development, etc.

Excellent! I cannot recommend Wooden House enough! My now 19-month-old boy settled in very well early on back in December and loves his nursery days. I feel all the staff and especially his key person are very friendly, caring and go above and beyond. We receive daily photos from the setting and updates
of the day's activities with great end-of-day feedback!
We feel very confident with the days he attends Wooden House!

Our daughter moved to Wooden House just over a year ago and we haven’t looked back. All of the staff at Wooden House have been brilliant, they are friendly, approachable and genuinely care about all the children.
Our daughter has grown in confidence since being with Wooden House and loves going to
nursery.
Our daughter is encouraged through play and learning every day. Her key person has been great in helping us with potty training, and reassuring us parents when we were struggling.
We trust them completely with our daughter, which is a huge relief when leaving your child in someone else’s care.

The Wooden House Nursery is a wonderful friendly nursery, the staff are very knowledgeable yet down-to-earth people, their system works really well and very secure. All the children always look happy and my son very much enjoys his time spent there and I feel very much at ease that he is happy and safe
when he attends. The children get to spend a lot of time outside which really suits us as we are outside country people, they do a massive range of activities with the children from cooking, painting, reading to finding bugs in the garden! Even trips to the neighbour's farm! I’m kept up to date throughout the day with the app with what they have been up to and also includes nappy changes and how much or little he has eaten and drank. My son has already learnt so much in all areas, also been given extra support with his speech and supported in areas which he has struggled to grasp. The team at Wooden House couldn’t be more helpful and very professional.

This is the second setting my daughter has attended in the area. Unfortunately the first didn't work for us. But the difference between the two is huge.
Wooden House is a welcoming warm environment, my daughter struggles with new situations but they are very accommodating to her needs. They've also
been accommodating to the family's needs and adding in extra days where able.
My daughter loves driving into the countryside in the mornings and having the large open spaces indoor and out to play in. They know my daughter well and offer her each time she attends to toys to play with that she enjoys. I receive regular progress about how she is developing, more so that I have with any other settings with my other children.
They have set policies and procedures in place to keep every child safe. Would strongly recommend a visit if searching for a nursery.

Both my children have attended Wooden House Nursery and both of my children love/loved attending the nursery. As a parent I am happy with the friendly, knowledgeable staff that work there. The staff are caring and patient with my son and provide feedback with how he is getting on. Although my eldest
is 8 now, many of the staff that worked with her are still working at the nursery now with my son. The nursery is in a lovely tranquil setting and it has both a large outdoor area and also an outdoor covered area for the children to be in. Overall the nursery is a lovely nursery and my children really enjoy attending.

We searched for a nursery in Tiverton for our first born who was 1. We really liked the setting of the Wooden House Nursery and the Manager was very professional and informative which won us over. Putting our baby boy in their care was amazing - they use the Famly app and give us regular updates, and
I feel like the staff care for every child in their care both professionally and personally. We've had such an amazing experience with the Wooden House and will definitely be using them for our second child too.

The Wooden House is amazing! We currently have our 2nd child there and we are so happy that we found this setting after transferring our 1st child here. The staff are very caring and approachable. They are a fantastic team.


We receive daily photos from the setting and updates of the day's activities

and our child has detailed focus weeks throughout the year to discuss development and progress. The setting is in a beautiful location with a large outdoor area which is perfect for outdoor play and forest school.

I cannot fault Wooden House. Our daughter has been attending for 3 months now and absolutely loves it. She always has a big smile for the staff who are really friendly, welcoming and attentive. Communication with the staff is great.


The range of activities/facilities both indoors and outdoors is

fantastic and our daughter is always trying new things. Her development has really come along since she has been attending the setting.


As a first-time mum, the idea of sending my child to nursery was daunting, but Wooden House made the transition so easy and we are updated daily about what she has been up to through the app.

Wooden House is by far one of the best settings I visited when I started searching for a nursery place. Our daughter is extremely shy, so it was really important to find the right setting that would help build her confidence. The staff have been kind and reassuring and have really helped boost her confidence.
The classrooms are organised, light and spacious and the outdoor space is fantastic! Our daughter sometimes likes to take herself away for quiet time and we felt she would be most comfortable attending this environment compared to any others we visited. Our daughter has attended the setting since April this year and we love seeing photos of all the different activities they've enjoyed each day. The activities are carefully considered and the children all seem to have a lot of fun! We are delighted with how well she has settled in and are so grateful to the staff for the huge amount of care they've given to our little girl.

If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 number of registered child places is 6, which has been reached with 36 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Her long-standing team is a testament to her leadership, as the setting benefits from having many long-standing staff.
