Nestled within the beautifully refurbished Barbara Hart House on Monyhull Hall Road, Shooting Stars Kings Norton provides a vibrant and welcoming space where children can grow, learn, and thrive. This unique setting, formerly NHS offices, has been transformed into a modern nursery that supports high-quality early years education.

The nursery is divided into four age-specific rooms, each equipped with premium Community Play furniture and a wide range of educational resources. As children progress, their environments evolve to introduce more structured learning, helping them prepare confidently for the next stage in their education.

The curriculum is delivered through a balanced mix of child-led play and adult-supported activities, ensuring full coverage of the EYFS framework. This approach nurtures independence, curiosity, and creativity while guiding children through key developmental stages.

To support family engagement and peace of mind, Shooting Stars offers ParentCam—a secure CCTV system that allows parents to view their child’s activities in real time. The nursery app further strengthens communication by providing daily updates and insights into each child’s experiences and progress.

Outdoor learning is a key feature of the nursery. Children enjoy a spacious garden complete with a trike track and sensory shed, designed to encourage physical activity and imaginative play. Babies and Pretoddlers also benefit from their own dedicated outdoor areas, tailored to their developmental needs.

Nutritious hot meals and healthy snacks are freshly prepared each day in the on-site kitchen, promoting balanced eating habits and supporting children’s overall wellbeing.

I would definitely recommend this nursery. My son has been going here since toddler room and is now in preschool, he loves it’s and loves his teachers. He is so clever and learnt so much since being there. I’m so glad I chose this nursery and gutted he will be leaving for school very soon.

Since my son joined in Sept 2020, he has grown and learned so much. The staff are all lovely, and my little one really enjoys it there. Menu choices are always good and diverse. Would definitely recommend this nursery to family and friends.

My daughter has recently joined this nursery, and I am over the moon I found it. From the moment we viewed it, I instantly felt at ease and knew it was the one. The building is modern and light, and they have a lovely garden area.


All of the staff are so welcoming and friendly, nothing is too much

trouble, and most importantly, my daughter loves going.

My son attends Shooting Stars nursery and has settled in very well. He started in the toddler room and has moved onto preschool. The staff are very friendly and professional. Even through the pandemic, the nursery has made us feel safe and have stayed open. The staff have been extremely supportive and
accommodated our schedule.
The nursery premises are very clean and tidy and very well equipped. A wonderful outdoor space for children to enjoy various planned activities and play.
The nursery keeps parents updated on all the day to day activities through their app.

My daughter has been welcomed and settled in Shooting Stars nursery so well; she didn’t cry as she had before with other nurseries. She loves coming into nursery’s to see her teachers and her friends. She enjoys everything in the nursery as she always tells me great positive stories every time she comes
out of the nursery, and that fills my heart hearing how happy and smiley she is. She never leaves nursery crying and she never goes to nursery crying. My daughter has grown so much with her talking and her personality since she has started Shooting Stars. All the staff are lovely and so welcoming, and I never had any issues with the nursery or the staff. I am so grateful for Shooting Stars Kings Norton and all the staff that look after my daughter.

My little boy has been going to Shooting Stars nursery for almost 2-years, and I can honestly say, it was the best decision we made! I looked at 9 nursery’s in total, and none had a patch on this one, not only is the building and grounds lovely and spotlessly clean, the staff are all amazing and outstanding
at what they do. They have worked wonders with my little boy, and I’m going to be very sad when he leaves this year. I have recommended this nursery to family and friends and will continue to recommend it even when my little one leaves. The parent cam in the room really helped me when leaving my son for the first couple of months as I was able to watch him and see what he was doing, it’s great peace of mind. I get updates every day with everything that’s happened that day while my little boy was in nursery and what he has been doing, even down to what they had for tea and how much of it he eats. I would like to thank all the staff at the nursery for doing an amazing job - A****!

We are so thankful to have found this nursery! After a recommendation from a friend with a child here we went for a look around and knew it was where we wanted to send our son. The facilities are great, with spacious and bright rooms, big windows for the children to see the world from, a huge garden
with lots of different areas, it's a lovely place to be. The staff are brilliant and attentive, they really get to know each child. To see our boy settle in, make friends and grow in confidence has been amazing!

My son has been coming to this nursery since turning 3 and is now due to leave to start reception in September. I can not recommend this nursery enough. All the staff are amazing and so friendly.
My son is a completely different child now after their support and help with additional care that was
needed.
Nothing is too much for the staff.
The nursery is amazing inside and outside. There is many different resources available to the children. The garden is fantastic and a great space with all sorts.
For a child who has Sensory issues the mud kitchen was very much a no go area, to begin with, but with the amazing staff, he is now more than happy to go in!
Thank you to everyone at Shooting Stars Nurseries at Kings Norton for helping shape my little boy into a more confident and happy boy.
If only all nurseries were like Shooting Stars!

Shooting Stars at Kings Norton has been absolutely amazing for my son who started at three years. The staff are attentive and supportive, their log is updated regularly to show what the kids are up to. Nothing is too much to ask of the staff. Throughout the covid crisis, they have been fabulous in adapting
to a stressful situation and making sure the children feel safe and secure. My little boy often comes home and likes to talk about his day in preschool. I feel that he is well looked after and is encouraged to do as many things as possible independently. A good range of activities and learning opportunities are delivered. The food is great and I am updated every day on how well my little one has eaten. Honestly do not think we could have picked a better nursery for our son to attend.

My boy was at Shooting Stars last year and then went onto private school only to find he missed the staff at Shooting Stars so this year (2020) my boy returned.
The fun and loving teaching methods at Shooting Stars in preparation for school are better than any preschool.
The staff are without a
doubt, the very best.
From one (once) anxious-mom to another, I can confidently say that for the five hours my son is at nursery, I have no concerns for my child.
There’s nothing like collecting my son from nursery and seeing a beaming smile!
Overall, a very loving and caring environment with approachable staff.

Our daughter has been going to nursery at Shooting Stars since she was 8 months old and has loved it. As parents, we have always felt comfortable and confident in the care that she has received. The fact that we have a camera that we can use to see our daughter is useful but after the first few weeks,
we have used it infrequently as the thorough updates we get during pick up have always assured us that she is well looked after.
We know our daughter loves going to the nursery as every time we walk or drive past she gets excited and tells us all the things she loves to do there 'friends, toys, garden'. We especially love how often the kids are encouraged to play outside and have experiences they wouldn't at home. The structured play is also something that has proved beneficial.
We have recommended the nursery to friends who have also had great experiences.

My 2-year-old daughter started a month ago when our newborn was just 3-weeks-old. I was worried it would be too much change having just gained a sibling, but I've been so incredibly impressed with the nursery, especially all the staff I've come into contact with
My daughter has already built a fantastic
relationship with her key worker and knows and likes all her room staff and talks about them fondly at home. She also knows the manager by name, and told me one day she was her best friend and another day how one of her new peers was!
Facilities inside and out are amazing and probably the best seen. I've been particularly impressed with the level of communication with parents through planned and snapshot observations and how well they've got to know her in such a short space of time and even gone to the trouble of talking to her about turn-taking with her new baby brother, who she feels feeds from mummy all day long!
The staff are so friendly and caring, and the cam is fab reassurance.
I've already recommended them to friends.

Shooting Stars - Kings Norton is a wonderful nursery with kind caring staff that have truly encouraged my son to grow in confidence, learn new skills, improve his vocabulary and understanding through games and fun. He started in November 2018 and has loved every minute making friends with children and
staff, personal thank you to his named worker, he has missed you so much over the past couple of months but he will never forget you. To another member of staff, he always talks about your science experiment and having lots of messy play! Also for looking after him when he’s fallen over in the playground or out of the classroom chair.
To the managers, thank you for your support during his time at nursery, he will miss you all. And to all the other ladies that have worked with my son, thank you - you know who you are. Thanks again.

My two daughters attend this nursery. The facilities are great and all the staff are so lovely and have built great relationships with my daughters. I feel very at ease leaving my children here and I would definitely recommend this nursery to anyone.
My one daughter is a very fussy eater at home but
at nursery she eats most things and really enjoys the chef's cooking.

This nursery is brilliant, the environment is great and the staff are excellent, very high quality and professional care is provided by them, for the children.
My daughter is now two years old but started at Shooting Stars Nursery in Feb/March 2020, she has been welcomed into the nursery family with
open arms and settled well. (Twice due to COVID-19).
The nursery app is brilliant and keeps parents up to date with the child’s individual development at nursery as well as being able to record as a parent what you do at home, regular information is also given about what is happening at nursery.
My daughter's development has and is benefiting by attending this nursery and I have and will highly recommend them to other parents thinking about the nursery for their child/children.

Shooting Stars is the most amazing nursery and I could not recommend it any more. My son and daughter both attend and they always have the best time. The staff are second to none, they are so welcoming and you really feel like they have a genuine care for your child. Both my children have come on so

Her leadership journey has seen her guide multiple nurseries to success, including achieving two Outstanding Ofsted ratings and transforming an Inadequate setting to Good within just three months.


Fariha is passionate about creating calm, engaging, and consistent environments where children feel safe, happy, and ready to learn. Her approach is child-led and rooted in connection, consistency, and care — values she brings to every aspect of her practice. She is known for her warm, hands-on leadership style and her commitment to building confident, collaborative staff teams.


Outside of work, Fariha enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing at home. She has a love for cosy evenings, interior styling, and a good Sunday afternoon show.


Fariha looks forward to working closely with families to ensure every child thrives.

Steph Dickinson

Job Title: Area Manager Joined: 2022

Steph joined Shooting Stars in 2022, bringing with her over a decade of experience in the Early Years sector. Her journey began in 2008 as an apprentice, and she has since progressed through a wide range of roles including practitioner, room leader, deputy manager, nursery manager, senior manager, and now area manager. Steph has held leadership positions in Early Years management since 2011, consistently demonstrating a strong focus on quality improvement, staff development, and inspirational leadership.


She is particularly passionate about musicality and supporting strong language development in young children, and she enjoys embedding music and rhythm into daily routines to enhance communication and engagement. Steph also has a keen interest in designing stimulating and inspiring learning environments that nurture curiosity and creativity.


In her current role as area manager, Steph is committed to empowering staff to develop their own individual and visionary leadership skills. She believes in fostering a culture of reflective practice, collaboration, and continuous growth across all settings she supports.


Outside of work, Steph enjoys walking, spending time with family and friends, and making the most of holidays—whether relaxing or exploring new destinations.

Kully

Kully Dhillon

Job Title: Strategic Development Manager Joined: 2014

Kully began her journey with Shooting Stars Nurseries in September 2014 as the Nursery Manager of the newly opened Wolverhampton setting. In 2022, she progressed into a strategic role, joining the Area Management Team as a Strategic Development Manager.


Her career in childcare began as a Level 2 Apprentice, followed by the completion of her Level 3 qualification. Since 2004, Kully has held a variety of leadership roles, including Room Leader in both Pre-School and Under 2’s, Deputy Manager, and Nursery Manager—spending 16 of those years in management. These experiences have shaped her deep understanding of early years education and operational leadership.


Kully is particularly passionate about the development of children under two, with a strong focus on building secure attachments and nurturing environments that support emotional well-being and early development. She also brings extensive expertise in Health & Safety, SEND, and Safeguarding, which are central to her practice and leadership.


A key focus of Kully’s role is supporting the growth of the early years workforce. She is committed to empowering staff through continuous professional development, helping them build confidence and fulfilment in their roles. Wellbeing is at the heart of her approach—she strives to foster a positive, supportive workplace for teams and a safe, inspiring space for children.


At Shooting Stars Nurseries, Kully plays a vital role in welcoming new team members through New Employee Workshops and mentoring apprentices throughout their training journey, helping shape the next generation of early years professionals.


Outside of work, Kully enjoys spending quality time with her family and attending football matches as a proud supporter of her local club. She also loves exploring new cities, dining out, and meeting new people.
