Nestled within the beautifully refurbished Barbara Hart House on Monyhull Hall Road, Shooting Stars Kings Norton provides a vibrant and welcoming space where children can grow, learn, and thrive. This unique setting, formerly NHS offices, has been transformed into a modern nursery that supports high-quality early years education.

The nursery is divided into four age-specific rooms, each equipped with premium Community Play furniture and a wide range of educational resources. As children progress, their environments evolve to introduce more structured learning, helping them prepare confidently for the next stage in their education.

The curriculum is delivered through a balanced mix of child-led play and adult-supported activities, ensuring full coverage of the EYFS framework. This approach nurtures independence, curiosity, and creativity while guiding children through key developmental stages.

To support family engagement and peace of mind, Shooting Stars offers ParentCam—a secure CCTV system that allows parents to view their child’s activities in real time. The nursery app further strengthens communication by providing daily updates and insights into each child’s experiences and progress.

Outdoor learning is a key feature of the nursery. Children enjoy a spacious garden complete with a trike track and sensory shed, designed to encourage physical activity and imaginative play. Babies and Pretoddlers also benefit from their own dedicated outdoor areas, tailored to their developmental needs.

Nutritious hot meals and healthy snacks are freshly prepared each day in the on-site kitchen, promoting balanced eating habits and supporting children’s overall wellbeing.

My daughter loves it here, the staff are super friendly. I love the nursery cam and nursery app to keep up to date with everything!
The nursery is laid out lovely, beautiful garden and great activities each day!

My daughter started here in January when she was 7 months old. I was concerned she wouldn't enjoy being away from me but she has loved going to nursery from her first day.
She has bonded with her key worker and always comes home happy. The camera feature is a great addition as I can check in when
I'm at work and I always get a complete breakdown of what she did that day.
The facilities are great and the activities varied so she is constantly entertained. She also has some great meals at nursery (normally eating better than I do!!)

My little boy started Shooting Stars in October 2019, after I took the decision to move him from another nursery. I was initially concerned at how he would adjust to the change and settling into a new nursery, however the staff were amazing and it didn't take him long to form a bond with his key worker
and the other members of the team and settle in.
The facilities are fantastic and the nursery is lovely and very clean, there is a large outdoor garden area and the staff ensure children get time outside whatever the weather.
The Nursery have a parental webcam which I can log into throughout the day to have a quick look at what my son's up to, which is lovely. They also update the parent app with my son's activities and observations during the day, which can be viewed.
The management team are lovely and welcoming and will help with anything.
I am extremely happy that I chose this nursery for my son and would highly recommend!

My 2 year old son started at this nursery for the first time and it was very difficult for us to be separated as we were together all the time since he was born. I was also worried about his communication and language barrier as English is not his first language. But staff was really helpful, caring
and friendly. I got a lot of support from all of them, the manager and one certain member of staff were supporting me as a mum while the rest of the staff was caring and soothing my son. Thankfully he settled in very well after a few weeks and loves his nursery so much, he mentions it every day. I really appreciate it.


The facilities are brand new and very clean, food is very good, my son is a picky eater but usually he eats well in the nursery. The cam and the app are quite useful to see what’s he doing there and what developmental things he has done. He started to talk a lot both in English and his own language and being more independent. We are really pleased.


Thanks a lot to everyone, I really recommend it.

Fantastic new location. Clean and very well resourced. Super welcoming staff and very caring staff. As early years professional myself, I am extremely happy with the care and attention my little one receives and the communication between parent and carer is excellent. The parent cam is a brilliant addition
that all nurseries should have, and the app for feeding back about the day is easy to use.

My son started Shooting Stars Nursery in January 2019 and quickly came to love it. He does three half days but would go every day if he could. The staff have such a great rapport with the children and parents alike. It’s such a welcoming nursery, you feel like a part of the family.
The facilities
are amazing, lots of beautiful wooden toys, lots of free play time, but also plenty of structured enjoyable learning activities. My son is 3 and a half and I’ve been so impressed with how encouraging his caregivers are at promoting self-care. Since being at nursery, he has become so much more confident and self-sufficient for his age. The garden is lovely and I love how the staff ensure the children get daily time outside whatever the weather.
Overall, I am so pleased that I chose this nursery for my son. It’s lovely to drop him off in the morning and leave with complete confidence in the staff.

Our daughter started in January 2019 and loves it. We actually have trouble getting her to leave!


The setting is clean, very well equipped and the staff are great and very helpful.


We are very happy to send our daughter here and would recommend it to anyone.

My daughter loves this new nursery and settled in within a couple of days.
The staff are amazing and the facilities are excellent.
The food is great and my daughter often has seconds.
The development updates I receive via the app are really good. I particularly enjoy getting an update at work
knowing that my daughter is having a fun day.
My daughter's development is progressing well and she loves the spacious garden.

Fariha Mir

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2025

Fariha joined Shooting Stars with over 15 years of experience in the early years sector, including 12 years in management roles. Her leadership journey has seen her guide multiple nurseries to success, including achieving two Outstanding Ofsted ratings and transforming an Inadequate setting to Good within just three months.


Fariha is passionate about creating calm, engaging, and consistent environments where children feel safe, happy, and ready to learn. Her approach is child-led and rooted in connection, consistency, and care — values she brings to every aspect of her practice. She is known for her warm, hands-on leadership style and her commitment to building confident, collaborative staff teams.


Outside of work, Fariha enjoys reading, spending time with family and friends, and relaxing at home. She has a love for cosy evenings, interior styling, and a good Sunday afternoon show.


Fariha looks forward to working closely with families to ensure every child thrives.

Steph

Steph Dickinson

Job Title: Area Manager Joined: 2022

Steph joined Shooting Stars in 2022, bringing with her over a decade of experience in the Early Years sector. Her journey began in 2008 as an apprentice, and she has since progressed through a wide range of roles including practitioner, room leader, deputy manager, nursery manager, senior manager, and now area manager. Steph has held leadership positions in Early Years management since 2011, consistently demonstrating a strong focus on quality improvement, staff development, and inspirational leadership.


She is particularly passionate about musicality and supporting strong language development in young children, and she enjoys embedding music and rhythm into daily routines to enhance communication and engagement. Steph also has a keen interest in designing stimulating and inspiring learning environments that nurture curiosity and creativity.


In her current role as area manager, Steph is committed to empowering staff to develop their own individual and visionary leadership skills. She believes in fostering a culture of reflective practice, collaboration, and continuous growth across all settings she supports.


Outside of work, Steph enjoys walking, spending time with family and friends, and making the most of holidays—whether relaxing or exploring new destinations.

Kully

Kully Dhillon

Job Title: Strategic Development Manager Joined: 2014

Kully began her journey with Shooting Stars Nurseries in September 2014 as the Nursery Manager of the newly opened Wolverhampton setting. In 2022, she progressed into a strategic role, joining the Area Management Team as a Strategic Development Manager.


Her career in childcare began as a Level 2 Apprentice, followed by the completion of her Level 3 qualification. Since 2004, Kully has held a variety of leadership roles, including Room Leader in both Pre-School and Under 2’s, Deputy Manager, and Nursery Manager—spending 16 of those years in management. These experiences have shaped her deep understanding of early years education and operational leadership.


Kully is particularly passionate about the development of children under two, with a strong focus on building secure attachments and nurturing environments that support emotional well-being and early development. She also brings extensive expertise in Health & Safety, SEND, and Safeguarding, which are central to her practice and leadership.


A key focus of Kully’s role is supporting the growth of the early years workforce. She is committed to empowering staff through continuous professional development, helping them build confidence and fulfilment in their roles. Wellbeing is at the heart of her approach—she strives to foster a positive, supportive workplace for teams and a safe, inspiring space for children.


At Shooting Stars Nurseries, Kully plays a vital role in welcoming new team members through New Employee Workshops and mentoring apprentices throughout their training journey, helping shape the next generation of early years professionals.


Outside of work, Kully enjoys spending quality time with her family and attending football matches as a proud supporter of her local club. She also loves exploring new cities, dining out, and meeting new people.
