Nestled within the beautifully refurbished Barbara Hart House on Monyhull Hall Road, Shooting Stars Kings Norton provides a vibrant and welcoming space where children can grow, learn, and thrive. This unique setting, formerly NHS offices, has been transformed into a modern nursery that supports high-quality early years education.

The nursery is divided into four age-specific rooms, each equipped with premium Community Play furniture and a wide range of educational resources. As children progress, their environments evolve to introduce more structured learning, helping them prepare confidently for the next stage in their education.

The curriculum is delivered through a balanced mix of child-led play and adult-supported activities, ensuring full coverage of the EYFS framework. This approach nurtures independence, curiosity, and creativity while guiding children through key developmental stages.

To support family engagement and peace of mind, Shooting Stars offers ParentCam—a secure CCTV system that allows parents to view their child’s activities in real time. The nursery app further strengthens communication by providing daily updates and insights into each child’s experiences and progress.

Outdoor learning is a key feature of the nursery. Children enjoy a spacious garden complete with a trike track and sensory shed, designed to encourage physical activity and imaginative play. Babies and Pretoddlers also benefit from their own dedicated outdoor areas, tailored to their developmental needs.

Nutritious hot meals and healthy snacks are freshly prepared each day in the on-site kitchen, promoting balanced eating habits and supporting children’s overall wellbeing.

My daughter has had her settles in baby room this week and the staff have all been so caring and kind towards my daughter and making her feel comfortable and helped her settle so well this week and being able to meet her needs and having a good hand over so that I feel comfortable and happy leaving

I used to rave about this Nursery and recommended it regularly to friends and family. My two children attended since 2019. I have since chosen to take my son out for pre school. Historically, communication used to be a priority, handovers from key workers used to be excellent and responses from management
fantastic. However, there has been a high number turnover of staff including management. Unfortunately in my opinion, standards have slipped. In recent times I have had to contact the nursery for missed sunscreen application resulting in burns, lack of sun hats being worn upon collection on hot days. Limited handover knowledge from agency staff. Events can also also often be last minute making it difficult for working parents to arrange. Despite my son attending the nursery for nearly four years no one acknowledged his last day either which is a shame and shows the limited knowledge current staff have of attending children. Such a shame- hope it can return to it former glory soon

Nice nursery need to work on the cameras and actually updating the app and I was told to bring in a book for world book day to which the kids would be swapping but when I asked staff they didn't seem to have a clue what I was on about and instead told me to pick a book from the reception.

Our daughter began in January of this year. The staff and managers have been receptive to our queries regarding her eating habits, how they approached this, when we have asked her to be changed as she dribbles a lot (teething) etc. We have been reassured by the baby room team as they have listened to
my concerns and then acted upon them.
Our daughter has formed strong bonds with two members of staff in particular and loves being greeted at the door by them. If she is upset, they play with her, and she enjoys different activities throughout the day. They also know her routine and try to pay attention to her individual needs.
The nursery cam is a huge pull factor as you can see how your baby is doing during the day. The
managers are approachable and listen, this was crucial for us. The manager listens to you, and the deputy manager is an asset to the company.

My son is 2 and started at the nursery in September. His older brother attended the nursery and preschool previously and had a great experience so we were keen for our youngest son to go too. The nursery was great with making my son feel welcome at the settling-in sessions and he loves going to nursery.
The staff are fantastic, my son enjoys the food, and there are great resources. I get a regular update on how his day has gone which helps keep me informed. The communication with the nursery is great.

Shooting Stars Nursery has been an amazing place for our little one, who started there at 9 months old and is now nearly 2. From the very beginning, we've been so impressed by the care and dedication of the staff. They are brilliant-warm, communicative, and genuinely invested in the children's happiness
and development.
Our son absolutely loves the food and happily eats every meal they prepare, which is a testament to the quality and variety they provide. The nursery is also packed with fantastic resources and has a wonderful outdoor space that encourages play and exploration.
What really stands out are the extracurricular events they organize, which add so much fun and enrichment to the children's experience. It's clear that Shooting Stars goes above and beyond to create a nurturing and stimulating environment. We couldn't be happier with our choice and highly recommend it to other families!

My son started at Shooting Stars in early summer and I have nothing but positive feedback for the staff here! From the second we were welcomed at the front door by smiley friendly managers to when we collected from staff at the end of the day, we experienced nothing but positivity! I was so nervous
about him settling and even when it was tough and he was upset, the staff were so encouraging. He absolutely loves nursery now. The settling-in period is so well supported and has really paid off. All of the staff we have encountered have been warm and welcoming. He gets to experience so many lovely activities here. The food is varied and must be tasty as he eats a lot of it. Thank you for a brilliant first few months and we look forward to our journey here watching our little boy develop! Thank you for taking such good care of him.

Lovely nursery, my son has gone there since he was 5 months old and is now nearly 3, the development and relationships he has made since being at the nursery are all to do with the great facilities, staff and care that our children get when they attend, something we couldn't provide in quite such a
way at home. The focus on development, care, fun and involvement is great, each milestone has been fully supported by the nursery. What is most pleasing and necessary is the inclusion, the nursery is so inclusive, aware of being able to cater for all diversities and is a safe environment for both children and parents to be themselves, feel we have been treated as individuals and our specific needs taken care of.

I absolutely loved the baby room for my little boy! My daughter has been there just over a year now and she absolutely loves going to nursery! She has built good rapport with staff and from my observation they interact really well. I have found management and staff are approachable and respond quickly to any queries I’ve had. The use of the online log
is great and love the fact that you can check in via the webcam at any time in the day (when your child is there) and see her having lots of fun in nursery!
I never have any worries when leaving my daughter here, she loves it, I know she’s safe and very well looked after!

My son has been at this nursery for over a year now, and he loves it. He comes home after his day, and he has so much excitement in telling me how his day has been. The staff are encouraging and caring. They have really made a positive impact on my son and his development. There are always friendly
faces to greet us every morning. The open space in the garden is amazing, with all kinds of fun learning through play. The rooms are open, light and safe. My son loves the food and tries things I never thought he would even try; he gets good choices and is always offered fruit and vegetables. On picking my son up, I love to hear the singing that's coming from the different rooms. I feel very comfortable leaving my son in the hands of the staff here, and I know that staff won't hesitate to challenge something if they believe it needs to be challenged. Overall, Shooting Stars deserve the 'outstanding' Ofsted report.

My son started here when it just opened. The staff were amazing; they helped support him with his SEN and always kept me updated on how his day went. He is now thriving in primary school and is top of his class. I feel this is down to the happy experience that he had at the nursery and the support that
we had even during Covid.
We even got a check-in call just to ensure he has settled into school.
I would like to thank the management and all the team. You all deserve the outstanding that you received from Ofsted.

My son has been attending for 3-months now and absolutely loves it. The staff are all so friendly and greet you even if you haven't met before. The building is large, clean and has excellent facilities. The baby room is very spacious, and the children are always playing outside, in the mud kitchen,
on the climbing frame and with the preschoolers at the end of the day. The food choice is great, very healthy, and the staff has been so accommodating and diligent in applying the cream for my child's eczema. I've never had any issues with lost items like some nurseries seem to. Staff give a good debrief at pick up, in addition to the daily diary and regular observations with photos - I look forward to these so much. Overall, I am very pleased with the nursery and staff and couldn't recommend it highly enough - I have heard complaints from other nurseries that are nearly double the price!

My son started here in the baby room when the nursery first opened. I have nothing but glowing reports for this nursery. Every member of staff here is friendly, caring and extremely dedicated to their roles. Absolutely adore the manager and the team. What I love most is their professionalism at all
times, their love towards every single child and the relationships they build with the children as well as the parents. Would like to give a massive shout out to one member of staff, whom my son absolutely adores and calls her his best friend. She has been a tremendous carer for my son, and he was absolutely devastated when he left her room to join the toddler room. However, she always came upstairs to see him, whenever she could and made sure he could see her, and feel safe and secure with his new key workers. She told me one morning she heard his cry and went up there to see if he was ok. He gave her a big cuddle. This small example just shows the lengths all staff members will go here!

An amazing nursery with incredibly welcoming staff. Our little boy loves going, ready and eager for big hugs from his key worker. He has progressed a lot since joining, and we always look forward to the daily log to see what he's been up to.

Steph Dickinson

Steph joined Shooting Stars in 2022, bringing with her over a decade of experience in the Early Years sector. Her journey began in 2008 as an apprentice, and she has since progressed through a wide range of roles including practitioner, room leader, deputy manager, nursery manager, senior manager, and now area manager. Steph has held leadership positions in Early Years management since 2011, consistently demonstrating a strong focus on quality improvement, staff development, and inspirational leadership.


She is particularly passionate about musicality and supporting strong language development in young children, and she enjoys embedding music and rhythm into daily routines to enhance communication and engagement. Steph also has a keen interest in designing stimulating and inspiring learning environments that nurture curiosity and creativity.


In her current role as area manager, Steph is committed to empowering staff to develop their own individual and visionary leadership skills. She believes in fostering a culture of reflective practice, collaboration, and continuous growth across all settings she supports.


Outside of work, Steph enjoys walking, spending time with family and friends, and making the most of holidays—whether relaxing or exploring new destinations.

Kully Dhillon

Kully began her journey with Shooting Stars Nurseries in September 2014 as the Nursery Manager of the newly opened Wolverhampton setting. In 2022, she progressed into a strategic role, joining the Area Management Team as a Strategic Development Manager.


Her career in childcare began as a Level 2 Apprentice, followed by the completion of her Level 3 qualification. Since 2004, Kully has held a variety of leadership roles, including Room Leader in both Pre-School and Under 2’s, Deputy Manager, and Nursery Manager—spending 16 of those years in management. These experiences have shaped her deep understanding of early years education and operational leadership.


Kully is particularly passionate about the development of children under two, with a strong focus on building secure attachments and nurturing environments that support emotional well-being and early development. She also brings extensive expertise in Health & Safety, SEND, and Safeguarding, which are central to her practice and leadership.


A key focus of Kully’s role is supporting the growth of the early years workforce. She is committed to empowering staff through continuous professional development, helping them build confidence and fulfilment in their roles. Wellbeing is at the heart of her approach—she strives to foster a positive, supportive workplace for teams and a safe, inspiring space for children.


At Shooting Stars Nurseries, Kully plays a vital role in welcoming new team members through New Employee Workshops and mentoring apprentices throughout their training journey, helping shape the next generation of early years professionals.


Outside of work, Kully enjoys spending quality time with her family and attending football matches as a proud supporter of her local club. She also loves exploring new cities, dining out, and meeting new people.
