The newest addition to the Acorns family, this light and airy purpose built nursery can be found on the University of South Wales Pontypridd site at Treforest. Located on Llantwit Road, 5 minutes from the A470, this nursery is perfectly placed for travel in or out of Cardiff and the Valleys.

The nursery management team have had over 20 years experience working within Acorns. Staff and student children from USW as well as children from the wider community are welcomed into the picturesque nursery setting. Each group has their own base room and access to the tree-lined garden area enabling them to freely move between stimulating activities in the indoor and outdoor environment. All equipment is of the finest quality, chosen for its play and learning potential and is age appropriate to ensure that babies and children are learning through play.

The outdoor environment means that the children can hear the waterfall behind the nursery and the birds singing all day long. The pre-school children enjoy a woodland trail walk to the dedicated forest school area The covered outdoor area and open garden ensure that learning and fun continue whatever the weather.

My stepdaughter has been attending the nursery for the last two months. The staff have been really accommodating and she loves going to nursery to see all her friends and key workers. All staff at the nursery are very friendly and welcoming and take time to reassure us that my stepdaughter will have
a lovely day. The management team has been outstanding and are able to answer any question we may have. The staff in the willow room are always really friendly and welcoming and informed me how my stepdaughters day has gone. The other day my wife or myself were unable to pick up my stepdaughter from nursery, so we rang the nursery to inform them that someone different will be picking her up. The person on the phone asked if the person knew the password we had given, as they wouldn't be able to pick her up without it. When my father picked up my stepdaughter he was very impressed with the nurseries security procedures that they had in place.

My niece has been attending the nursery for the last two months. The staff have been really accommodating and she loves going to see her key workers in the Willow room. They are always friendly and welcoming and take time to reassure my sister that my niece will have a lovely day. The management has
been outstanding and are able to answer any question my sister may have.
I went to pick my niece up one day from the nursery and I was happy to see that the member of the staff asked me who I was and then asked me for a password before I was able to pick my niece up. Which showed that they have really good security at the nursery. The staff in the willow room were really friendly and welcoming and informed me how my niece day had gone.
In a few months time, I'm going to be a father for the first time and I will be looking for a nursery to put my child in and I will not have any problem leaving my child with the wonderful staff at the USW nursery.

My nephew started at the nursery last month. I went to visit the nursery with my brother and my nephew as he wanted my opinion because I work in a school as a nursery nurse. I was very impressed when I arrived at the nursery. The manager was very welcoming and was dealing with a parent at the time of
our arrival. She asked a member of staff that was closed by if they could start to show us around the nursery and she would join us when she had finished dealing with the parent's enquiry. As we were shown around every member of staff talked to my nephew and was very warm and welcoming. Since my nephew has started at the nursery I have picked him up a few times and he never wants to come home because he is having to much fun. The staff are always welcoming and take time out to talk to me about by nephews days and answer any question I may have.

I was apprehensive about leaving my little girl at nursery In the beginning, but after the first couple of weeks it’s like leaving her with family!


She loves the staff and often talks about them at home.


There is always a lovely atmosphere, warm welcome and nothing is too much trouble. Would highly

When my daughter started at Acorns, she was very attached to mum and found it hard to settle with other people. The girls in the baby toom made sure they got to know her routine to help her settle quickly. By her third day, my daughter was very happy to be left in their care.

My daughter has attended USW Acorns since she was one year old.
She is now three and absolutely thriving.
Thanks to the efforts of the staff and the stimulating activities the children undertake, she is social, happy and as bright as a button.
I truly believe that my daughter will have an easy transition
into school because of her time at creche although she will miss her friends and the staff at USW Acorns.

My little boy loves coming to this nursery. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. It's like home from home.
The staff give my little boy so much attention and care that it's obvious to see on his happy face when I drop and pick him up.

The staff are amazing, I've never met a friendly bunch.
They are so understanding and really engaging with the children.
My little one has excelled since attending this nursery and has learnt so much. The activities they do really help the children learn key skills but they have fun at the same time.

The staff that are involved with my son are welcoming and are very warm.
My son is happy and trusting towards them which gives me peace of mind and happy to leave him. I am happy with the environment in which my son is left and up until now, am very happy with his care and well being.

My granddaughter has improved immensely since attending Acorns at USW. Her speech, concentration, gross motor skills have come on in leaps and bounds. She has had a problem with her skin and all the wonderful staff have been so supportive in offering advice and helping to change her diet. Any little

Full marks for Acorns at USW Treforest. My child has settled well here and enjoys each day. He has attended for the past 10 months.
All staff are polite, friendly, well trained and genuinely enjoy their role in caring for the children. The facilities are excellent with plenty of activities to entertain
the children throughout the day and the outdoor space is well used.
I receive a detailed summary of what my child has done each day. There is good communication across the team to know what is going on. My child has developed in many ways as s result of nursery.
They also run an open evening/event where you can join in with activities and see the children in their nursery environment which was excellent to observe. It is also possible to see child progress using the app.

My daughter started Acorns at USW Treforest a few weeks ago. She seems to be settling in lovely. The staff are very welcoming in the mornings.


The Conifer staff were very on board in sticking to the same routine as we have at home.
The staff are always doing activities with the children (singing,

painting etc). When picking up my daughter it's lovely to hear about what they have eaten and what activities they have done through the day. The staff always have time to go through it with you, or any concerns they may have.


I have recently downloaded the Capture for Families App which is great to see pics through the day of how she's getting on. There is a woodland house being built across the car park, which will be brilliant for the children's development.


Although my daughter has only been going to Acorns at USW Treforest a short time I can already see it is a well-run, well-organised nursery. I cannot recommend it enough.

Acorns at USW Treforest is conveniently located. The facilities are clean, welcoming, bright and colourful and most importantly, child-friendly. Chris Camilleri

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 1997

Chris is one of our most experienced managers, having started at Acorns in 1997 at Acorns Oakfield Street.


She progressed to managing a number of our nurseries, Acorns Oakfield Street, Baby Acorns, Acorns ONS, BBC Acorns, Acorns Henbury, Acorns House and now Acorns USW.


Chris has a passion for the outdoors, is a qualified Forest School Leader and loves to take the children out exploring, whatever the weather!
