The newest addition to the Acorns family, this light and airy purpose built nursery can be found on the University of South Wales Pontypridd site at Treforest. Located on Llantwit Road, 5 minutes from the A470, this nursery is perfectly placed for travel in or out of Cardiff and the Valleys.

The nursery management team have had over 20 years experience working within Acorns. Staff and student children from USW as well as children from the wider community are welcomed into the picturesque nursery setting. Each group has their own base room and access to the tree-lined garden area enabling them to freely move between stimulating activities in the indoor and outdoor environment. All equipment is of the finest quality, chosen for its play and learning potential and is age appropriate to ensure that babies and children are learning through play.

The outdoor environment means that the children can hear the waterfall behind the nursery and the birds singing all day long. The pre-school children enjoy a woodland trail walk to the dedicated forest school area The covered outdoor area and open garden ensure that learning and fun continue whatever the weather.

My daughter chose this nursery for my granddaughter by a recommendation. Every time I either take or pick up my granddaughter there is always a warm, friendly welcome greeted by the management team. As I can't come into the nursery due to covid restrictions the management team gets one of the staff
from the room to hand over. Again the staff are so welcoming and make good professional communication which makes me feel at ease at drop off, knowing my granddaughter is in good hands. The staff go above and beyond in the roles and my granddaughter loves it there. She brings home a lot of crafts and also love the idea of the app where my daughter can see what fun she's been doing in nursery throughout the day. This is a beautiful nursery with good outdoor space and large rooms inside. The staff look very smart, clean and professional. I can't thank Acorns enough for all they do.

My children have both attended Acorns USW. I am extremely happy with the care that's provided. I am always informed about what has gone on throughout the day. Both my children love coming to nursery, they always have big smiles and run in without looking back. All staff are friendly, professional and
caring which makes the drop off so much easier.

Both my boys come to this nursery and every day we are so pleased we made the decision to send them here. The staff are so caring and nurturing. It feels like I'm leaving them with family members (but with the extra bonus of the safe and nurturing learning through play environment). Our boys love it.
They're always so happy to go in and my toddler can't wait to tell me what he's done at the end of the day. Very very happy and couldn't recommend it enough. Both boys bring home craft activities almost every day and there are regular photo uploads on the app too so I can see what they are doing in the environment. They are always so happy/engrossed in tasks. The forest schools area is gorgeous too and my toddler loves it. Such a bonus to have a lovely outdoor environment. They also have a great, healthy menu and are introduced to healthy dishes that I don't always have time to cook.

Acorns at USW Treforset is by far one of the best establishments for childcare. My child has been attending for a month and has already developed so much thanks to his keys carers and everyone at Acorns. He loves going and will always go in and come back with a smile on his face and as a parent, the
fact he is happy and loves going to see everyone at the nursery is what is more important.

What a wonderful nursery! The outdoor facilities are fantastic. forest school is better than I have seen anywhere else. The resources and equipment they provide are worth every penny and I pay for my child to attend. Bravo to all the hard-working staff.

Staff have been excellent with our daughter who is currently in the process of being diagnosed with autism. They have also been very helpful and supportive with me and my partner regarding different things we can do to help her. Location is ideal. Really suits our daughter's needs with the layout of

The staff at Acorns have been amazing with my daughter and her additional needs. They have provided care and support to not only her but also us. They have expressed concern and advice to us and I couldn't thank them more.

Our daughter has been at USW Treforest since July 2019. It wasn't our first choice but we were let down. This turned out to be the best thing for our daughter. She loves the nursery and her development through the work of the staff is clear to see. The staff are caring, attentive and always cheerful
and happy to see the children.
Parents are treated with respect and listened to. The food is healthy and all clients taken into consideration. In the event of having a second child, I wouldn't think twice about sending them to USW Treforest.

I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone! I have never left my daughter before so I was extremely nervous about her starting nursery but everyone that works here is so welcoming and reassuring, they are all so kind and caring. My little girl has now been with Acorns at USW Treforest for 1 month
and she loves it! She always comes home with beautiful pieces of artwork and tells me lovely stories about her day. Their Forest School is also very cool and my little girl loves being able to explore and play in such a fabulous environment.

Good Day to those reading!
I simply have to speak about what a marvellous establishment exists here in this University campus. I was in the area to visit my great granddaughter who attends the University of South Wales, and to see my own Uncle's headstone, God rest his soul, after leaving the area
to fight in 1915. I volunteered to collect her son last Thursday and was greeted by the assistant manager who was so very polite, and after I gave the correct password she escorted me through the lovely clean entrance way and into the dining room where I was absolutely astonished to see these little tykes tucking into Thai green curry of all things! I saw the staff gleefully helping them with their meal, and I was shown to the Conifer room where my young lad was having a sleep. I was going to ask of the significance of the trees chosen as names but decided against. Nonetheless, my great granddaughter cannot praise this organisation enough so this review is very much warranted.

Chris is one of our most experienced managers, having started at Acorns in 1997 at Acorns Oakfield Street.


She progressed to managing a number of our nurseries, Acorns Oakfield Street, Baby Acorns, Acorns ONS, BBC Acorns, Acorns Henbury, Acorns House and now Acorns USW.


Chris has a passion for the outdoors, is a qualified Forest School Leader and loves to take the children out exploring, whatever the weather!
