The newest addition to the Acorns family, this light and airy purpose built nursery can be found on the University of South Wales Pontypridd site at Treforest. Located on Llantwit Road, 5 minutes from the A470, this nursery is perfectly placed for travel in or out of Cardiff and the Valleys.

The nursery management team have had over 20 years experience working within Acorns. Staff and student children from USW as well as children from the wider community are welcomed into the picturesque nursery setting. Each group has their own base room and access to the tree-lined garden area enabling them to freely move between stimulating activities in the indoor and outdoor environment. All equipment is of the finest quality, chosen for its play and learning potential and is age appropriate to ensure that babies and children are learning through play.

The outdoor environment means that the children can hear the waterfall behind the nursery and the birds singing all day long. The pre-school children enjoy a woodland trail walk to the dedicated forest school area The covered outdoor area and open garden ensure that learning and fun continue whatever the weather.

The care shown toward my daughter at this nursery is second to none. All her needs are met to an excellent standard and nothing is too much trouble. The provision provided and planned activities are great and ensure that the children are learning as well as having fun. My daughter loves nursery and
all the staff that look after her. Knowing that my daughter is safe and happy at Acorns USW is all I can ask for and that is exactly what she is.

The nursery provides excellent care for my son, who has just turned one. He has been in the nursery for four months. The staff are very welcoming the minute you ring the doorbell. My son has settled in very quickly and is always happy to be left. It is always lovely to pick him up and have his artwork
or photographs of him and see what he has been up too while I have been in work. The day sheet is always useful to see what he has been eating and playing with. I feel very happy leaving him all day, I know he is safe and he is happy.

I highly recommend Acorns USW Treforest. All the staff are so friendly and helpful and so loving and caring towards my little boy. My son always enjoys being at the nursery. We always have a thorough breakdown of what's happened throughout the day. Occasionally, the staff take the children on a little
walk to the local park or even the Art Gallery in the University. Food is freshly prepared on site by the Acorns staff, it's very clean and I've seen Acorns staff put a lot of effort into the refurbishing of the building since they took it over from the University nearly a year ago.

I can’t say enough good things about this fantastic nursery. The staff are excellent. My little girl loves it there. It’s like her extended family. I’m so pleased with how she has blossomed since being there. I highly recommend it!

Friendly and professional service, my son is well looked after in a nurturing way. There is lots for him to do and the facilities are excellent. He eats well and I am informed of everything he does during the day. With this being my second son I am able to compare and contrast with my first son’s nursery
and I am far more satisfied than the first son’s nursery run by RCT council.

Our two children attend Acorns Nursery and are both at different stages of their lives but Acorns are more than accommodating for all ages. I find our children have developed dramatically since attending and am so pleased with the care that is provided. Everyone is so kind and caring I instantly felt
at ease knowing my children are in the best hands. I couldn't recommend Acorns enough they have truly set a high standard of care here.

My little boy has been at Acorns at USW Treforest since February 2018. The staff are amazing with him and he loves going into nursery. He does lots of arts and crafts and there are always lots of other activities for the children to do. I love that we get pictures home of him doing the activities along
with his day card so that we can share them with the rest of the family and join in with what he's doing.


The staff are really welcoming and clearly care for the children that they are looking after. There is a wide variety of food on offer to the children, which is all cooked on the premises. The nursery also provides nappies and creams for the children as part of the fees paid.
