The Review Score of 8.6 (maximum of 10) for Heron Quays Day Nursery & Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 20 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Heron Quays Day Nursery & Preschool in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.079 for Heron Quays Day Nursery & Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (88 Excellents x 5) + (100 Goods x 4) + (40 Satisfactorys x 3) + (7 Poors x 2) + (5 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 240 Ratings = 4.079

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Day Nursery to friends and family?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.515 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Heron Quays Day Nursery & Preschool is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 33 positive Reviews (165 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 17 Reviews ÷ 33 Target = 0.515

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

This nursery's management team is excellent. I found the ladies very easy to talk to, they listen to your feedback and implement changes immediately; it gives me peace of mind knowing that whatever happens, I have a team of people who would always listen to my concerns and take action on them. Also the staff in the nursery are caring and kind, joyful and energetic to not only care for the ladybirds but to also entertain and help develop the little ones emotionally and physically; it is important for little ones to laugh and having nurses who are happy and joyful during the day is an absolute advantage and a rare asset; our key person is learning a few of our native words so that she connects better with the baby; baby has settled quite quickly and enjoys her time in the nursery.

We have 3 boys at Heron Quays and they enjoy it very much, especially the twins who have been there since they were babies.

The practitioners, especially the boys' key person, look after the boys very well. They are caring, thoughtful and alert.

The management team are receptive to feedback and listen well to make necessary changes if required. All the staff are professional and friendly and the environment is pleasant. It would be better if there was more garden space.

The nursery is great and offers fantastic facilities. The staff in the rooms are generally very good and my daughter has a great relationship with her Key Worker. It is very clean and bright.

The management is certainly improving and the communication between parents and staff is getting better. There have been times in the past where this has not been the case, and the management can be a little impersonal. This is definitely changing and I feel more involved and better informed than I have in previous years.

The staff try as hard as possible to make sure that the children spend time outside, although this is difficult in such a central London location.

Our daughter started 3 weeks ago and seems to have settled really well thanks to the caring staff in the Ladybirds room.
After a bit of a bumpy start with napping, the staff have really taken on board our wishes and suggestions.
Everyone is really friendly and the nursery is clean and safe.
Overall a great start so far.

My son has been in the nursery since he was 5 and a half months old.
Every time that I'm concerned with something I write an email and always receive a response.
The staff is very helpful.
The cleanliness could improve slightly.
The learning program is good but I think there are minor improvements to be done but it can be discussed.
Overall I like very much the service provided.

In general, very satisfied with the services and space/equipment in this nursery.
It is as well appreciated that the management takes care of the parents' requests.
My child has been taken care of from 12 months to almost 3 and a half years now and I see her progress in terms of personal development and social interaction.
During that period we had no incident or issue, which is something important.
And to finish, the staff are really close to the children and are taking care of and successfully educating our child.

My son and I have good relationships with practitioners in the nursery. He enjoys attending nursery and has a brilliant bond with his key worker. I am also very happy with the support and care the practitioners give my son.
The manager greets you when entering the nursery and takes the time to listen to any queries I may have in regards to the nursery.
I also find the reception team are very polite and welcoming, including the deputies.
Overall, I am very pleased I have chosen this nursery for my son to attend.

My son really enjoys nursery. The ladies within his room are brilliant. They are very friendly and encourage him to show his own little personality.
The other members of staff around the nursery are extremely friendly too and greet you politely including the managers.(I have also seen this with other parents too)
I have had no issues with the nursery and any queries I have are dealt with professionally and effectively.

My son started here when he was only 11months old and left when he was 2years. We decided to take him out as we were very unhappy with the overall experience.
Management, not engaged, communication with parents very poor for example, failed to tell parents that a number of children developed the same rash after eating lunch.
Rooms small and crowded, not enough learning/play materials
Staff, not engaged, don't stay long, they use staff from agencies regularly.

It happened to me that some days I did not know any of the carers in my son's room, they also once failed to tell me why my son had a big lump on his forehead. The manager had to check the CCTV to find out what happened, as the agency carer who witnessed the incident left for the day.

A lovely outdoor area which they don't use as they should, some days my son wouldn't go outside. Food quality very poor.

Overall, we did not feel that it was the right place for our son. He is now in a new and very caring, engaging and lovely nursery which points out, even more, the gaps of this one.

Thank you for your feedback, we value all feedback in order to ensure we are always improving. I believe you have not been at the nursery for a good while now. We have a new management team in place and positive changes have taken place.
The nursery continues to ensure Safeguarding is our number one priority.

We loved this place when we first sent our daughter in and when it was still managed by My Nursery. However, since Bright Horizons took over, the nursery has gone down hill.

First of all, they treat their staff badly and we could tell the workers are not that happy (they are still very nice to our daughter tho). The turnover of key workers is huge. Very often you have only 2 or 1 experienced key workers in each room, while the rest are all temporary workers or new faces. This is not a good environment for babies.

Secondly, they mess up administrative issues way too often. Our daughter couldn't go to an occasion that she was really looking forward to because of this.

Thirdly, the new manager never greets parents and she always hides in her office and has no idea who is who. The previous manager would always sit at the receptionist's desk in the morning and evening and greet the parents and chat with them. And she knows the name of every single child in the nursery.

Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. I am very sorry to hear you are not 100% happy with your nursery.
I have fed the information back to the Nursery Manager and she is more than happy for you to come in and sit down and discuss your concerns and ensure they are resolved asap.

I like staff there and activities kids are doing. Management is also very good and friendly. Food id good. My concern is cleanliness. I saw that housekeepers constantly cleaning the facility but I wish they had extra staff to do this job. I like the idea to take the shoes off or put shoe covers when entering the rooms with kids for all (parents and staff). I suggest they open the windows more often to let fresh air clean the germs and bacteria in the air. I hope kids will be less sick and stay more healthy when they are attending nursery during the weekdays.

Thank you very much for your review. Your opinion is very important in helping us to understand how we can provide the high-quality care and education to you and your family. I would like to assure you that the safety and wellbeing of our children and families is our number one priority. I believe that our Nursery Manager has already reached out to you and implemented some changes (no show policy or ventilating the rooms) based on your feedback.

Before making our minds on a nursery we visited all the nurseries in the area. We decided to enroll our daughter nearly a year ago in Heron Quays Day Nursery & Preschool as the first impression was very good: behavior and happiness of kids, good references of local mums, cleanness and friendly staff. We are very happy with the nursery and our daughter is looking forward in the morning to go "to school". She loves her teachers and go and play with her friends. And her development has been superb. We recommended to a friend, she moves her son and she can't be more happy about it. Definitely a good nursery.

This is a relatively new nursery and we were quite sceptical in enrolling our little boy. But we now feel we have 100% made the right choice.
First of all the facilities are very modern and up to date.
The location is excellent (very close to Canary Wharf) and the drop-off and pick-up process is very convenient.
In the beginning, there had been a huge turnaround of staff, which is usually not a good sign, but following some management changes, this has improved massively and the personnel seems to be more sticky.
Most importantly, staff listen and adapt to the needs of the parents and the kids, so I feel there will surely be more improvements in the near future.
The price is a bit on the high side but other than that we quite happy.
Probably the best nursery in Canary Wharf at the moment.

Friendly, helpful staff, both on the front desk and in the rooms. Rooms are clean and the toys and equipment are in good condition. Rooms are warm and colourful. The music man comes on a Wednesday, which my daughter always talks about, also the visits by the 'Zoo Man' who brings in animals and insects is really good.
Staff take pictures to decorate the room then give them to parents so we can share their experiences.
The menu is diverse and my children always eat everything, which is more than they do at home.

Early in November, I approached the management team to make a few observations of areas of improvement in my son's classroom (butterflies 1). I felt that the staff seemed disengaged and disinterested about the kids, I also mentioned that in many instances there were too many children and not enough carers in the room. I noticed that management has really taken my comments on-board and made some noticeable changes.
The room feels and looks different now, the staff are very responsive and interested in the children and my son seems a lot happier when I drop and pick him up. The deputy manager has taken a leading role in the class and this has made all the difference because she is very good with the children and excellent in guiding the staff. I am very pleased and I hope they keep up the good work. It is great to see that management are listening to the parents and prepared to respond.
