Bright Horizons Heron Quays Nursery provides high-quality care and education for children as young as three months to five years. With a ‘good’ Ofsted rating (Nov 2019), the spacious nursery operates five rooms within the nursery, each one tailored to the children’s age groups, enabling them to safely explore and follow their own interests. This nursery provides a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can grow, learn, and develop to their full potential.

Babies are fully supported in moving from home to nursery as they follow their individual routines, making this a smooth and positive transition for all the family. There’s a milk station and nursing area, so you can feel relaxed and have privacy while taking care of the little one.

The team works closely with families to support children’s individual learning outcomes through weekly learning and playing-from-home programmes. The curriculum is carefully designed to encourage curiosity, independence and a love for learning. Educators plan a variety of stimulating activities and experiences that promote language development, social skills, numeracy and creative expression. Children are encouraged to learn through play, fostering a sense of joy and enthusiasm for learning.

When it comes to outdoor play, children are truly spoiled with the beautiful garden area and adventure garden, which includes age-appropriate toys and activities.

Additionally, the parents’ space gives families a private and welcoming area to chat with them about their child’s needs.

Happy tummies are important; that’s why a balanced menu is freshly prepared by their own onsite chef and changed regularly to encourage children to try new food.

My son has been in the nursery since he was 5 and a half months old.
Every time that I'm concerned with something I write an email and always receive a response.
The staff is very helpful.
The cleanliness could improve slightly.
The learning program is good but I think there are minor improvements
to be done but it can be discussed.
Overall I like very much the service provided.

Very satisfied with the nursery. They are very accommodating and will follow changes to routine when required.

My son started here when he was only 11months old and left when he was 2years. We decided to take him out as we were very unhappy with the overall experience.
Management, not engaged, communication with parents very poor for example, failed to tell parents that a number of children developed the same
rash after eating lunch.
Rooms small and crowded, not enough learning/play materials
Staff, not engaged, don't stay long, they use staff from agencies regularly.


It happened to me that some days I did not know any of the carers in my son's room, they also once failed to tell me why my son had a big lump on his forehead. The manager had to check the CCTV to find out what happened, as the agency carer who witnessed the incident left for the day.


A lovely outdoor area which they don't use as they should, some days my son wouldn't go outside. Food quality very poor.


Overall, we did not feel that it was the right place for our son. He is now in a new and very caring, engaging and lovely nursery which points out, even more, the gaps of this one.

My son and I have good relationships with practitioners in the nursery. He enjoys attending nursery and has a brilliant bond with his key worker. I am also very happy with the support and care the practitioners give my son.
The manager greets you when entering the nursery and takes the time to listen
to any queries I may have in regards to the nursery.
I also find the reception team are very polite and welcoming, including the deputies.
Overall, I am very pleased I have chosen this nursery for my son to attend.

My son really enjoys nursery. The ladies within his room are brilliant. They are very friendly and encourage him to show his own little personality.
The other members of staff around the nursery are extremely friendly too and greet you politely including the managers.(I have also seen this with other
parents too)
I have had no issues with the nursery and any queries I have are dealt with professionally and effectively.

We loved this place when we first sent our daughter in and when it was still managed by My Nursery. However, since Bright Horizons took over, the nursery has gone down hill.


First of all, they treat their staff badly and we could tell the workers are not that happy (they are still very nice to

our daughter tho). The turnover of key workers is huge. Very often you have only 2 or 1 experienced key workers in each room, while the rest are all temporary workers or new faces. This is not a good environment for babies.


Secondly, they mess up administrative issues way too often. Our daughter couldn't go to an occasion that she was really looking forward to because of this.


Thirdly, the new manager never greets parents and she always hides in her office and has no idea who is who. The previous manager would always sit at the receptionist's desk in the morning and evening and greet the parents and chat with them. And she knows the name of every single child in the nursery.

I like staff there and activities kids are doing. Management is also very good and friendly. Food id good. My concern is cleanliness. I saw that housekeepers constantly cleaning the facility but I wish they had extra staff to do this job. I like the idea to take the shoes off or put shoe covers when
entering the rooms with kids for all (parents and staff). I suggest they open the windows more often to let fresh air clean the germs and bacteria in the air. I hope kids will be less sick and stay more healthy when they are attending nursery during the weekdays.

Before making our minds on a nursery we visited all the nurseries in the area. We decided to enroll our daughter nearly a year ago in Heron Quays Day Nursery & Preschool as the first impression was very good: behavior and happiness of kids, good references of local mums, cleanness and friendly staff.
We are very happy with the nursery and our daughter is looking forward in the morning to go "to school". She loves her teachers and go and play with her friends. And her development has been superb. We recommended to a friend, she moves her son and she can't be more happy about it. Definitely a good nursery.

The nursery is brand new and looks clean and very well cared for.
Highlights:
- Music man on Wednesdays
- Lots of activities
- Diverse food menu

Friendly, helpful staff, both on the front desk and in the rooms. Rooms are clean and the toys and equipment are in good condition. Rooms are warm and colourful. The music man comes on a Wednesday, which my daughter always talks about, also the visits by the 'Zoo Man' who brings in animals and insects
is really good.
Staff take pictures to decorate the room then give them to parents so we can share their experiences.
The menu is diverse and my children always eat everything, which is more than they do at home.

This is a relatively new nursery and we were quite sceptical in enrolling our little boy. But we now feel we have 100% made the right choice.
First of all the facilities are very modern and up to date.
The location is excellent (very close to Canary Wharf) and the drop-off and pick-up process is
very convenient.
In the beginning, there had been a huge turnaround of staff, which is usually not a good sign, but following some management changes, this has improved massively and the personnel seems to be more sticky.
Most importantly, staff listen and adapt to the needs of the parents and the kids, so I feel there will surely be more improvements in the near future.
The price is a bit on the high side but other than that we quite happy.
Probably the best nursery in Canary Wharf at the moment.

Early in November, I approached the management team to make a few observations of areas of improvement in my son's classroom (butterflies 1). I felt that the staff seemed disengaged and disinterested about the kids, I also mentioned that in many instances there were too many children and not enough
carers in the room. I noticed that management has really taken my comments on-board and made some noticeable changes.
The room feels and looks different now, the staff are very responsive and interested in the children and my son seems a lot happier when I drop and pick him up. The deputy manager has taken a leading role in the class and this has made all the difference because she is very good with the children and excellent in guiding the staff. I am very pleased and I hope they keep up the good work. It is great to see that management are listening to the parents and prepared to respond.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Over the past 30 years, I have worked with children. I began my teaching career in an independent school where I taught music and drama to children aged three to sixteen.


During my teaching career, I realised how much I enjoyed working with young children and decided to further my education and become a Level 4 Early Years Practitioner. In addition to managing After School and Holiday Clubs, I have an additional understanding of how the Playwork Principles influence early childhood education.


Even though I'm now the manager at Heron Quays, my dedication to the children has no limits and while I will be looking after the nursery, my focus will be to introduce all my children to music and drama.


Whether it be singing to soothe babies or directing the preschool Christmas Extravaganza! I look forward to welcoming you and your child to my nursery.

I have been working at Bright Horizons since 2017 supporting our Chelsea Nursery where I worked as a Preschool Room Leader, progressing to the Third in Charge. I soon transferred over to Bright Horizons Heron Quays where I supported the nursery for over a year as the Deputy Manager. I have just returned from maternity leave and have had a baby boy.
