We have 3 boys at Heron Quays and they enjoy it very much, especially the twins who have been there since they were babies.
The practitioners, especially the boys' key person, look after the boys very well. They are caring, thoughtful and alert.
The management team are receptive to feedback and listen well to make necessary changes if required. All the staff are professional and friendly and the environment is pleasant. It would be better if there was more garden space.
The nursery is great and offers fantastic facilities. The staff in the rooms are generally very good and my daughter has a great relationship with her Key Worker. It is very clean and bright.
The management is certainly improving and the communication between parents and staff is getting better. There have been times in the past where this has not been the case, and the management can be a little impersonal. This is definitely changing and I feel more involved and better informed than I have in previous years.
The staff try as hard as possible to make sure that the children spend time outside, although this is difficult in such a central London location.
Nice carers although the management is a little bit messy. Carers are quite patient when my daughter started nursery.
Every time that I'm concerned with something I write an email and always receive a response.
The staff is very helpful.
The cleanliness could improve slightly.
The learning program is good but I think there are minor improvements to be done but it can be discussed.
Overall I like very much the service provided.
Very happy with the nursery. Staff personable. Hours 7.30am-6.30pm work well for my wife and I.
Very satisfied with the nursery. They are very accommodating and will follow changes to routine when required.
I would like for the nursery to revert to an organic menu where possible.
Management, not engaged, communication with parents very poor for example, failed to tell parents that a number of children developed the same rash after eating lunch.
Rooms small and crowded, not enough learning/play materials
Staff, not engaged, don't stay long, they use staff from agencies regularly.
It happened to me that some days I did not know any of the carers in my son's room, they also once failed to tell me why my son had a big lump on his forehead. The manager had to check the CCTV to find out what happened, as the agency carer who witnessed the incident left for the day.
A lovely outdoor area which they don't use as they should, some days my son wouldn't go outside. Food quality very poor.
Overall, we did not feel that it was the right place for our son. He is now in a new and very caring, engaging and lovely nursery which points out, even more, the gaps of this one.
The nursery continues to ensure Safeguarding is our number one priority.
The manager greets you when entering the nursery and takes the time to listen to any queries I may have in regards to the nursery.
I also find the reception team are very polite and welcoming, including the deputies.
Overall, I am very pleased I have chosen this nursery for my son to attend.
The other members of staff around the nursery are extremely friendly too and greet you politely including the managers.(I have also seen this with other parents too)
I have had no issues with the nursery and any queries I have are dealt with professionally and effectively.
We loved this place when we first sent our daughter in and when it was still managed by My Nursery. However, since Bright Horizons took over, the nursery has gone down hill.
First of all, they treat their staff badly and we could tell the workers are not that happy (they are still very nice to our daughter tho). The turnover of key workers is huge. Very often you have only 2 or 1 experienced key workers in each room, while the rest are all temporary workers or new faces. This is not a good environment for babies.
Secondly, they mess up administrative issues way too often. Our daughter couldn't go to an occasion that she was really looking forward to because of this.
Thirdly, the new manager never greets parents and she always hides in her office and has no idea who is who. The previous manager would always sit at the receptionist's desk in the morning and evening and greet the parents and chat with them. And she knows the name of every single child in the nursery.
I have fed the information back to the Nursery Manager and she is more than happy for you to come in and sit down and discuss your concerns and ensure they are resolved asap.
I like staff there and activities kids are doing. Management is also very good and friendly. Food id good. My concern is cleanliness. I saw that housekeepers constantly cleaning the facility but I wish they had extra staff to do this job. I like the idea to take the shoes off or put shoe covers when entering the rooms with kids for all (parents and staff). I suggest they open the windows more often to let fresh air clean the germs and bacteria in the air. I hope kids will be less sick and stay more healthy when they are attending nursery during the weekdays.
Thank you very much for your review. Your opinion is very important in helping us to understand how we can provide the high-quality care and education to you and your family. I would like to assure you that the safety and wellbeing of our children and families is our number one priority. I believe...
Before making our minds on a nursery we visited all the nurseries in the area. We decided to enroll our daughter nearly a year ago in Heron Quays Day Nursery & Preschool as the first impression was very good: behavior and happiness of kids, good references of local mums, cleanness and friendly staff. We are very happy with the nursery and our daughter is looking forward in the morning to go "to school". She loves her teachers and go and play with her friends. And her development has been superb. We recommended to a friend, she moves her son and she can't be more happy about it. Definitely a good nursery.
The members of staff are attentive when it comes to your needs, where we are able to relay yourselves with our child. Thank you for your support!
Highlights:
- Music man on Wednesdays
- Lots of activities
- Diverse food menu
- Great carers
- Hairdresser on Wednesdays
- The buggy parking and its concierge!
- Management communication (although they are getting better)
- Outdoor activities
- The staff turnover is high.
Staff take pictures to decorate the room then give them to parents so we can share their experiences.
The menu is diverse and my children always eat everything, which is more than they do at home.
First of all the facilities are very modern and up to date.
The location is excellent (very close to Canary Wharf) and the drop-off and pick-up process is very convenient.
In the beginning, there had been a huge turnaround of staff, which is usually not a good sign, but following some management changes, this has improved massively and the personnel seems to be more sticky.
Most importantly, staff listen and adapt to the needs of the parents and the kids, so I feel there will surely be more improvements in the near future.
The price is a bit on the high side but other than that we quite happy.
Probably the best nursery in Canary Wharf at the moment.
The room feels and looks different now, the staff are very responsive and interested in the children and my son seems a lot happier when I drop and pick him up. The deputy manager has taken a leading role in the class and this has made all the difference because she is very good with the children and excellent in guiding the staff. I am very pleased and I hope they keep up the good work. It is great to see that management are listening to the parents and prepared to respond.

Meet the Team (2)
Over the past 30 years, I have worked with children. I began my teaching career in an independent school where I taught music and drama to children aged three to sixteen.
During my teaching career, I realised how much I enjoyed working with young children and decided to further my education and become a Level 4 Early Years Practitioner. In addition to managing After School and Holiday Clubs, I have an additional understanding of how the Playwork Principles influence early childhood education.
Even though I'm now the manager at Heron Quays, my dedication to the children has no limits and while I will be looking after the nursery, my focus will be to introduce all my children to music and drama.
Whether it be singing to soothe babies or directing the preschool Christmas Extravaganza! I look forward to welcoming you and your child to my nursery.
I have been working at Bright Horizons since 2017 supporting our Chelsea Nursery where I worked as a Preschool Room Leader, progressing to the Third in Charge. I soon transferred over to Bright Horizons Heron Quays where I supported the nursery for over a year as the Deputy Manager. I have just returned from maternity leave and have had a baby boy. I am passionate about my job and love working with children. Watching them grow and develop is what makes me happy.
