The Sunflower Children's Centre is an innovative day nursery offering full flexible daycare and a support partnership for parents.

Sunflower is an award-winning Day Nursery owned and managed by mums who want to deliver the best care possible, to innovate and educate each unique child and to ensure the best start in the important early years from birth to school and beyond.

As a paperless nursery, a transparent electronic learning system is used which enables parents to access their child's learning 24/7.

Throughout the day parents receive electronic updates, enabling to feel part of the child's day and not missing any precious moments.

The Sunflower Children's Centre is a purposely built secure setting, designed to ensure children have continuous access to a covered outside area whatever the weather.

The outdoor area provides natural surfaces and is being set up by experienced practitioners to ensure children have the correct resources to excite and engage, encouraging confident, enthusiastic learners.

The preschool children also have the opportunity to attend Forest school which is within the grounds.

My son attended The Sunflower from baby room all the way up to preschool. I've always been reassured as a parent that Sunflower, Hyde provided my child with outstanding care. The partnership with the parents, I felt was above and beyond what I thought I would receive. Both me and my husband loved the
daily connect app. We can log on all day to see how our son was doing. We have photos which showed him happily playing or taking part in activities, it even shows us what he had for lunch and how many nappies were changed. Looking around Sunflower and the safety features it provided with internal locking doors and gated off areas, made us really feel at ease they safety was at an extremely high standard. The practitioners in each room are fantastic and the managers would always help in any queries we had.

One of the things that really impressed me about the nursery was the amount of training that the staff attended. The nursery has their own training scheme that all staff are part of and this sounded fantastic and certainly was evident throughout their methods of delivery with the children. When we first
viewed for my grandson we looked at many nurseries in the area and found that Sunflower had the best team of experienced and qualified staff who were also all First Aid trained.


My grandson attended nursery up until July 2017 when he left to go to school. He progressed so well within the classes and became a confident school-ready learner. I was a teacher for 40 years and I would have loved to teach in such a wonderful learning environment.


I can guarantee that any further grandchildren will attend the nursery - there would not be any other choice for our family.

I couldn’t recommend this nursery enough! Our four-year-old daughter has been going there since she was 9 months old and she has developed into a very confident, clever and independent young lady. The staff are so warm, friendly and reassuring. In the early days when I found it very difficult to leave
her there, the staff would send me pictures of my smiling daughter to ease my mind. You get sent updates all day long, telling you what your child has eaten and learned that day. The nursery also takes the older children on day trips to farms and parks whenever they can. My daughter has so much fun there and has made so many friends and lovely memories.

My 16-month-old absolutely loves the 2 days a week he spends at Sunflower. He never gets upset at drop off - he's always excited to see the staff and his little pals, and when I pick him up he's always excitedly trying to tell me what he's been up to.


I love the fact that I get updated throughout

the day with pictures and information about the activities they've been doing, how long he's slept, what he's eaten, etc. They do a wide variety of activities, and always get some time outdoors which is great. I never worry about him - I always know he's being well looked after.


The management and staff are really thoughtful and arrange some lovely events for the children - the Christmas party with a visit from Father Christmas was a particular highlight! They obviously really do care about the children and want them to have lots of lovely experiences.

My son has been going to Sunflower nursery for a few months, since going he has come on so much! All the staff that work there are lovely. I also really love receiving updates throughout the day using the app.

I tell everyone I know how brilliant Sunflower Children's Centre is. From the friendly welcoming at reception to the amazing staff that look after my little one. The way they keep you informed on daily activities, the healthy food that is served and the endless amount of learning that goes on within
Sunflower. I wouldn't want my little one anywhere else x

Both my children have attended this nursery and I would absolutely recommend to everyone we know. I have 4 nurseries within walking distance of my house but chose Sunflower even though we have to drive to get there because of how amazing it is. The place feels like home everyone is treated like family
and I love the holistic approach of learning through play. Letting the children get mucky in their mud kitchens and looking after tadpoles playing outside in their wonderful outdoor space. Both my children have excelled, being there was definitely the best decision I made choosing Sunflower. I am so glad I didn't just pick the most convenient nursery for me but the best nursery for my children.

The staff are lovely. My daughter loves time at this nursery, she has been to another nursery closer to home, which neither my child nor I liked. It takes me 40 minutes on the bus to get to Sunflower, but it's worth it. I would highly recommend. There are so many different activities. The outdoor playground
is amazing. The best nursery for my daughter.

Elaine Sagar

Job Title: CEO Joined: 2008

Elaine embarked on a career in Childcare in 2008 and founded The Sunflower Group in 2014.


She is passionate about Early Years Education. She is a fervent supporter of all aspects of early learning, representing the Early Years in her role as OBC Co-Chairperson, Schools Forum (EY Representative) and Chair of Tameside Nursery Network. Elaine is also a regular contributor to BBC Breakfast TV when representing the Early Years sector in the North West.


Elaine takes a "hands-on" approach to supporting her ever-expanding team of practitioners.


Elaine is committed to every child receiving the best start in their early education.

Dawn

Dawn Gibbons

Job Title: Operations Director/Nursery Manager Joined: 2014

Dawn Gibbons joined the company at its inception in 2014 as a Level 6 Lead Practitioner.


She has progressed through to now leading practice across the company alongside managing her Hyde setting with her senior management team.


Dawn has been recognised nationally for her dedication to practice when she received the National Award for Operations Director from Nursery World in 2019.


She is committed to ensuring that children and families are at the heart of everything we do at Sunflower.

Natalie

Natalie Hoszowskyj

Job Title: Parent Partnership Manager Joined: 2013

Although Natalie took up her position as one of the Managerial Team in 2014 and has worked for the company CEO for the past 21 years. Natalie has a wealth of managerial experience that she has brought to the team. Along with her experience in childcare, Natalie is able to lead and support both her team and families within the centre.


Natalie has recently become our Partnership with Parents Manager. This role was created to ensure our families always receive the best support across all our centres.

Bob Wynn

Job Title: Training Director Joined: 2009

Meet our Training Director Bob Wynn. Bob joined the company as a Headmaster bringing many years of leadership in education to the company. When the school closed Bob developed his skills in other areas and retrained to lead our team in quality professional development.


Bob leads our team in Safeguarding, First Aid and Self-regulation. He also leads Physical Education and Forest School along with the team and children.

Andrina

Andrina Biddle

Job Title: Duty Manager/ Speech & Language Champion Lead Joined: 2014

Andrina joined Sunflower Hyde as a Senior Practitioner in 2014, bringing a wealth of knowledge in all areas of practice and her specialism and passion for Speech and Language. Andrina progressed to our Senior Management Team and now holds the position of Duty Manager at our Hyde Setting.


Andrina is our Speech and Language Champion and not only does she teach practitioners and support children within our nurseries, but she also supports other nurseries by sharing her skills.

Wendy joined our Sunflower team back in 2018, bringing a wealth of experience in all areas of practice to our team. Wendy progressed to Buds Room Leader and her caring nature is what makes Wendy perfect to Lead this room and team.

Sam

Sam Holland

Job Title: Executive Chef/ Level 6 Childcare Practitioner Joined: 2020

Sam joined Sunflower in 2020 as our setting chef, however, Sam has previously been with the company for many years. Sam has completed a BA Hons in Childcare as well as holding many qualifications in catering.


She caters for all of our children and provides nutritious homemade meals.


Sam does cooking groups with the pre-school children which help develop their skills in using tools, maths and language development.
