The Sunflower Children's Centre is an innovative day nursery offering full flexible daycare and a support partnership for parents.

Sunflower is an award-winning Day Nursery owned and managed by mums who want to deliver the best care possible, to innovate and educate each unique child and to ensure the best start in the important early years from birth to school and beyond.

As a paperless nursery, a transparent electronic learning system is used which enables parents to access their child's learning 24/7.

Throughout the day parents receive electronic updates, enabling to feel part of the child's day and not missing any precious moments.

The Sunflower Children's Centre is a purposely built secure setting, designed to ensure children have continuous access to a covered outside area whatever the weather.

The outdoor area provides natural surfaces and is being set up by experienced practitioners to ensure children have the correct resources to excite and engage, encouraging confident, enthusiastic learners.

The preschool children also have the opportunity to attend Forest school which is within the grounds.

I can’t recommend them enough! My son has SEN, we had a pretty bad experience with our previous nursery, not getting the support needed and they had no knowledge of processes with the local authorities to access support for our son, so we moved our son to The Sunflower Children's Centre and wow, it
was the best decision we could of made for him. He is so happy here, the staff go above and beyond to nurture and help the development of each child. Their Senco is amazing and an expert in all things SEN and all of the staff are so welcoming and friendly. The cooks are so helpful trying to help accommodate and come up with ideas to help encourage my son to eat. As a whole, they have helped put so many things into place to ensure that my son's needs are being met, helping us get an EHCP in progress. Honestly, don’t know where we would be without them and their guidance and support. My son loves attending and that’s down to all of the staff and the amazing environment that they all create.

I can't begin to express my gratitude to all of the staff at Sunflower Nursery for their support with my children.
Since they first joined over a year ago, the service has been nothing short of exceptional.
My eldest has additional needs and requires the input of several healthcare professionals,
all of which The Sunflower Nursery kindly accommodate. As an example, through guidance of her physio team, the Sunflower staff have taken on board her exercise programme and work through this each day she attends. I've already seen huge improvements in her overall strength and posture and I believe she wouldn't be where she is now without their ongoing help.
I've seen my children hitting their milestones, grow in confidence, friendships made. They're doing so well and it's all down to the staff, activities and services they offer. They enjoy it so much, they don't want to leave!
Highly recommend the Sunflower Nursery to anyone! We're so lucky to have found them!

My daughter has attended The Sunflower Children's Centre since she was 9 months old where she settled into the Seedling room with a lovely team of staff who ensured she was well supported during transition, was really well cared for and had lots of fun throughout the day. She has recently moved from
Buds to Petals and she is so happy and thriving within her learning and development, she really enjoys her time at Sunflower the staff are like our extended family. I love the updates I receive during the day too.

We are first-time parents, and a friend recommended Hyde Sunflower nursery to us.
In 2021 (Covid), we did an online visit, spoke to a few members, and decided it was the best place.
Our girl started when she was five months at some point, we tried another nursery closer to our home, but we were so
used to a high Sunflower standard, loads of pictures, and feedback about nappies, food and development milestones, we didn't think twice. We called and asked The Sunflower team if we could return, and they accepted her back.
I don't have words to say how grateful I'm to the team; they are always giving guidance and sharing how the day went with our girl.
She is always happy with her colleagues and teachers.
Definitely recommend The Sunflower nursery.

Both my children attend the nursery and are absolutely thriving.
The staff are wonderful, kind and nurturing.
On both occasions when I have had to return to work after maternity leave, I have felt reassured by staff and that both my girls are safe in the care of The Sunflower Children's Centre.

My youngest daughter attends this nursery and has done since being 11 months old. My oldest attended too just before starting school and absolutely loved it! My daughter who still attends loves the place just as much and gets upset when it's not a nursery day. The staff are like a family and go above
and beyond. My daughter absolutely loves the food too which is always lovely home cooked meals. She also gets to pick her own snack morning and afternoon. They have a forest school now and it's amazing. I always look forward to the pictures on Daily Connect of what she gets up to. She also enjoys sports and yoga with the girls. My daughter will be sad to leave for school.

Wish I knew about this nursery sooner. My son attended another nursery from 6 months old and after covid, we changed to Sunflower and it was the best decision! He has come on leaps and bounds, has so much confidence and knowledge and actually loves going! Also from a parent's point of view, everything
is super straightforward and thorough. You receive so many updates throughout the day via the app, which I love and have never had before. Couldn’t say a bad word if I’m honest! My second child will definitely be attending here!

Very good nursery - all the staff are lovely and both our children love this nursery and are eager to go every time, compared to another local nursery where my eldest child refused to go in as he didn’t like it. This was a great positive - the staff are always encouraging the children to do what they
take interest in. The only negative comment is regarding being sent invoices to pay for meals during school holidays, when the children aren’t in attendance, as they only do term time. We simply shouldn’t have to pay for meals they aren’t receiving. I pay for meals if they aren’t in for reasons due to illness.

My grandson has been attending Sunflower children's nursery for a few months. He is very well settled and absolutely loves it. As my only grandson, it is always a worry leaving him away from the family but I can honestly say it is the best thing ever for him. As a lockdown baby, he hadn't really mixed
with others so was a worry but he is really enjoying his time spent with other children. The staff are brilliant with him and keep us updated throughout each day with pictures, messages, meals etc so you can see how he is doing throughout the day. My daughter and I viewed three nurseries and I have to say this one stood out straight away and has proved to be the right choice. My grandson has really come on since joining and he loves the daily activities. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursery, it is excellent. Well done team Sunflower.

After moving my children to this nursery from a previous nursery I can’t begin to explain the difference in them. They ask every day “Are we going to nursery today?" They have made so many lovely friends and love the staff so much. Academically, they have come on so much. Daily communication is fantastic
seeing all the photos and what they are doing throughout the day. An amazing nursery that cares so much for our children. Also, I am a grandma to four grandchildren who have all thrived at Sunflower and have been prepared for when they started school.

My two boys have attended Sunflower for over five years. The eldest one has now gone to school. The youngest is still there. My wife who is an early years teacher, visited all of the local nurseries and eventually chose Sunflower. She knows what she is talking about in relation to childcare. We cannot
fault Sunflower in any way. The staff are excellent and go out of their way to accommodate the children and parents. The building is purpose-built having been a Sure Start Centre. I believe the food is excellent but have not really sampled it myself. Our youngest seems to like it anyway. Both our boys couldn't and can't wait to get there sometimes. I would give them six stars if I could.

My daughter has been going to Sunflower nursery since she was 12 months old and she is now 2 years old. As we do not have family support to help with childcare and as both me and my husband have to work full time, we had to send our daughter to nursery. It is hard making that decision at first but Sunflower
made my daughter feel so welcomed and as a parent, you get a gut feeling when something is right and that is how I feel about Sunflower. Since the very first day, I know every single member of staff wants the best for my daughter. My little girl has a second family in the Sunflower girls. The love and support you have given to my baby and helped her to learn and grow is worth it’s weight in gold. When my daughter first started nursery, she was just about walking after a week of going. She would glide from carpet to hard floor - whilst before that, she would slow down and fall down. From each new room and progression she would make the girls know how to give my girl the love and support she needs.

Sunflower children's centre is the best nursery in my area by far! I have 2 children now aged 8 and 3 years old who both have spent their first years at Sunflower children's centre in Hyde. I viewed various nurseries in the area both times and honestly could not recommend this nursery enough. Clean,
tidy, decent food and staff are always helpful! I have had dietary issues with my youngest, due to an unknown allergy and each and every member of staff at Sunflower has been supportive and followed the guidance thoroughly that I have been given by health professionals. 10/10 here - both my girls have loved every day at this nursery, especially the new forest school that has recently been built. Thank you team Sunflower.

My daughter attends here 5 days a week in the preschool room and is always excited about attending each morning. She always talks about the exciting activities she has done that day and the friends and staff she has played with. The nursery has a great app for me to check in on how my daughter is each
day. This includes what she has eaten, what activities she has done, followed by several photos. My daughter always looks forward to the days she goes into the forest school that is located on the side of the building and the days she gets to do sports with the in house sports coach. I look forward to collecting her each evening to see the big smile on her face whilst she tells me about the amazing things she has done. My daughter's key worker is amazing and has built up her confidence so much that she is now much more independent and school ready for September! The sunflower team are all amazing and are always keen to go above and beyond without hesitation.

Elaine Sagar

Job Title: CEO Joined: 2008

Elaine embarked on a career in Childcare in 2008 and founded The Sunflower Group in 2014.


She is passionate about Early Years Education. She is a fervent supporter of all aspects of early learning, representing the Early Years in her role as OBC Co-Chairperson, Schools Forum (EY Representative) and Chair of Tameside Nursery Network. Elaine is also a regular contributor to BBC Breakfast TV when representing the Early Years sector in the North West.


Elaine takes a "hands-on" approach to supporting her ever-expanding team of practitioners.


Elaine is committed to every child receiving the best start in their early education.

Dawn

Dawn Gibbons

Job Title: Operations Director/Nursery Manager Joined: 2014

Dawn Gibbons joined the company at its inception in 2014 as a Level 6 Lead Practitioner.


She has progressed through to now leading practice across the company alongside managing her Hyde setting with her senior management team.


Dawn has been recognised nationally for her dedication to practice when she received the National Award for Operations Director from Nursery World in 2019.


She is committed to ensuring that children and families are at the heart of everything we do at Sunflower.

Natalie

Natalie Hoszowskyj

Job Title: Parent Partnership Manager Joined: 2013

Although Natalie took up her position as one of the Managerial Team in 2014 and has worked for the company CEO for the past 21 years. Natalie has a wealth of managerial experience that she has brought to the team. Along with her experience in childcare, Natalie is able to lead and support both her team and families within the centre.


Natalie has recently become our Partnership with Parents Manager. This role was created to ensure our families always receive the best support across all our centres.

Bob

Bob Wynn

Job Title: Training Director Joined: 2009

Meet our Training Director Bob Wynn. Bob joined the company as a Headmaster bringing many years of leadership in education to the company. When the school closed Bob developed his skills in other areas and retrained to lead our team in quality professional development.


Bob leads our team in Safeguarding, First Aid and Self-regulation. He also leads Physical Education and Forest School along with the team and children.

Andrina

Andrina Biddle

Job Title: Duty Manager/ Speech & Language Champion Lead Joined: 2014

Andrina joined Sunflower Hyde as a Senior Practitioner in 2014, bringing a wealth of knowledge in all areas of practice and her specialism and passion for Speech and Language. Andrina progressed to our Senior Management Team and now holds the position of Duty Manager at our Hyde Setting.


Andrina is our Speech and Language Champion and not only does she teach practitioners and support children within our nurseries, but she also supports other nurseries by sharing her skills.

Wendy joined our Sunflower team back in 2018, bringing a wealth of experience in all areas of practice to our team. Wendy progressed to Buds Room Leader and her caring nature is what makes Wendy perfect to Lead this room and team.

Sam Holland

Job Title: Executive Chef/ Level 6 Childcare Practitioner Joined: 2020

Sam joined Sunflower in 2020 as our setting chef, however, Sam has previously been with the company for many years. Sam has completed a BA Hons in Childcare as well as holding many qualifications in catering.


She caters for all of our children and provides nutritious homemade meals.


Sam does cooking groups with the pre-school children which help develop their skills in using tools, maths and language development.

Leanne joined Sunflower in 2018. Leanne is one of our Pre-school seniors at Hyde. Leanne has worked her up the way from college placement to Senior Childcare Practitioner.

Katie joined our team pre-covid to complete her apprenticeship in Childcare. We are delighted she has joined our team. Katie is one of our senior management team Curren try training as deputy manager. Katie is also Forest School leader.
