The Sunflower Children's Centre is an innovative day nursery offering full flexible daycare and a support partnership for parents.

Sunflower is an award-winning Day Nursery owned and managed by mums who want to deliver the best care possible, to innovate and educate each unique child and to ensure the best start in the important early years from birth to school and beyond.

As a paperless nursery, a transparent electronic learning system is used which enables parents to access their child's learning 24/7.

Throughout the day parents receive electronic updates, enabling to feel part of the child's day and not missing any precious moments.

The Sunflower Children's Centre is a purposely built secure setting, designed to ensure children have continuous access to a covered outside area whatever the weather.

The outdoor area provides natural surfaces and is being set up by experienced practitioners to ensure children have the correct resources to excite and engage, encouraging confident, enthusiastic learners.

The preschool children also have the opportunity to attend Forest school which is within the grounds.

My little boy loves attending here. So much in fact that every time we drive past he shouts yay and his key workers name in the hopes he's going. The staff are lovely with the kids and although he's only two he asks for them all the time which shows me how lovely they must be with him. I'm extremely
happy we chose this setting for our son. I also love all the pictures we get throughout the day so you can see all the lovely things they are doing and the friendships they are making.

I would highly recommend The Sunflower Children's Centre to other parents. We love it! The care and development of my child are brilliant, I always feel 100% confident he will be well looked after. They do a variety of activities including first school which is great as my child loves being outdoors.
I can't thank everyone enough for their continued support throughout the years.

Lovely nursery, staff are very welcoming. My children love coming to nursery, always doing something messy and fun, which you can see on the app throughout the day. Management are really supportive, couldn't have chosen a better nursery, really happy with my choice.

Excellent nursery. They go above and beyond in all areas of the children's care and development. They made us so at ease when our daughter joined at 9 months old and during COVID. All the staff treat the children and parents like family. We couldn't recommend this nursery enough.

I am so pleased we followed the recommendations for Sunflower. Their Forest School is phenomenal. My daughter started in the preschool in September and spends all day outside. Appropriately dressed for all weathers she has a ball. I was a little unsure of how they would learn but the pictures on the
app, together with what she tells us is amazing. They do everything they would in a conventional classroom but outdoors and with the freedom to learn through play. She comes home shattered but is full of the day she has had. The outdoor dining is a great hit. She sees this as a picnic every day! I would not consider any other nursery for my children. The staff go over and above in all that they do and it is obvious they are all well trained and extremely passionate about children learning and having fun.

Staff are very attentive to my son’s needs.
The nursery takes a lot of effort to make special calendar days fun and meaningful to the kids.
My son has a good relationship with his key worker and feels happy and safe at nursery. His key worker has helped through personalised activity to keep him
engaged and help with his learning.
The app is a great assurance that he is enjoying his day whilst I’m working and makes drop easier as I can regularly check in on him throughout the day.

My little girl really enjoys nursery. All the staff are very kind caring helpful and supportive.
Daily connect is the best to keep in touch seeing my little girl doing activities and playing.
They have lots of things to take home and do together they offer lending library to encourage reading at home.
The nursery is very welcoming and safe for children. A very supportive SENCO.
My little boy left in July to start school and he needed lots of support in the nursery and to help him transition to school nothing was any trouble this nursery is fantastic.

Lovely nursery with kind, caring and very helpful staff who really treat your children like their own. We moved my son here 3 months ago after his previous nursery shut suddenly. The staff were very supportive with our situation and helped the transition run smoothly and quickly. I am very pleased with

Amazing ladies that work here, they all really put the children first. I love the fact that its all healthy eating. They have lots of educational activities for the children, and lots of outdoor play.

My child who has additional needs, poor mobility and feeding requirements started this nursery in January 2023, I was extremely anxious due to having had a bad experience at a previous nursery. Wow, I am so glad I choose this nursery. They go above and beyond for every single child, tailor to their
needs, the input and care they give my child is just outstanding. Communication on a day to day basis regarding my childs nappy’s, feeding, mood, nap times, activity’s is fed back to me. Inclusion at this nursery is up there with one of the best, they have trained to feed my child so he’s able to attend, had time with myself to learn a lot more about my child and their conditions and they even practice his physio exercises with him throughout the day. SENDco is fantastic, she really knows what she’s talking about which is SO refreshing, is really approachable and understanding, which makes a huge difference as a nervous and anxious mummy. Thankful and grateful for you all at The Sunflower Children's Centre!

My son attended The Sunflower Children's Centre until he started school, and my daughter started at The Sunflower Children's Centre in November 2019 at the age of 14 months and she is now in Pre-school. I can honestly say that there is no one else I would trust to look after her - the staff are amazing.
They are so professional, yet all of their wonderful personalities shine through and they are so warm and nurturing. My daughter loves coming to nursery - she loves all of the ladies who look after her and especially sports and forest school! The provision is excellent and the team are busy helping to prepare her for school in September, but also ensuring she has lots of fun. All of the staff are friendly and cheerful - not just the nursery teachers, but admin staff too - everyone goes above and beyond. The parents' and carers' free sessions such as paediatric First Aid are such a kind and supportive idea. My daughter has blossomed here and it is an honour for her to be at The Sunflower Children's Centre, Hyde.

Elaine Sagar

Job Title: CEO Joined: 2008

Elaine embarked on a career in Childcare in 2008 and founded The Sunflower Group in 2014.


She is passionate about Early Years Education. She is a fervent supporter of all aspects of early learning, representing the Early Years in her role as OBC Co-Chairperson, Schools Forum (EY Representative) and Chair of Tameside Nursery Network. Elaine is also a regular contributor to BBC Breakfast TV when representing the Early Years sector in the North West.


Elaine takes a "hands-on" approach to supporting her ever-expanding team of practitioners.


Elaine is committed to every child receiving the best start in their early education.

Dawn

Dawn Gibbons

Job Title: Operations Director/Nursery Manager Joined: 2014

Dawn Gibbons joined the company at its inception in 2014 as a Level 6 Lead Practitioner.


She has progressed through to now leading practice across the company alongside managing her Hyde setting with her senior management team.


Dawn has been recognised nationally for her dedication to practice when she received the National Award for Operations Director from Nursery World in 2019.


She is committed to ensuring that children and families are at the heart of everything we do at Sunflower.

Natalie

Natalie Hoszowskyj

Job Title: Parent Partnership Manager Joined: 2013

Although Natalie took up her position as one of the Managerial Team in 2014 and has worked for the company CEO for the past 21 years. Natalie has a wealth of managerial experience that she has brought to the team. Along with her experience in childcare, Natalie is able to lead and support both her team and families within the centre.


Natalie has recently become our Partnership with Parents Manager. This role was created to ensure our families always receive the best support across all our centres.

Bob Wynn

Job Title: Training Director Joined: 2009

Meet our Training Director Bob Wynn. Bob joined the company as a Headmaster bringing many years of leadership in education to the company. When the school closed Bob developed his skills in other areas and retrained to lead our team in quality professional development.


Bob leads our team in Safeguarding, First Aid and Self-regulation. He also leads Physical Education and Forest School along with the team and children.

Andrina

Andrina Biddle

Job Title: Duty Manager/ Speech & Language Champion Lead Joined: 2014

Andrina joined Sunflower Hyde as a Senior Practitioner in 2014, bringing a wealth of knowledge in all areas of practice and her specialism and passion for Speech and Language. Andrina progressed to our Senior Management Team and now holds the position of Duty Manager at our Hyde Setting.


Andrina is our Speech and Language Champion and not only does she teach practitioners and support children within our nurseries, but she also supports other nurseries by sharing her skills.

Wendy Barnes

Wendy joined our Sunflower team back in 2018, bringing a wealth of experience in all areas of practice to our team. Wendy progressed to Buds Room Leader and her caring nature is what makes Wendy perfect to Lead this room and team.

Sam

Sam Holland

Job Title: Executive Chef/ Level 6 Childcare Practitioner Joined: 2020

Sam joined Sunflower in 2020 as our setting chef, however, Sam has previously been with the company for many years. Sam has completed a BA Hons in Childcare as well as holding many qualifications in catering.


She caters for all of our children and provides nutritious homemade meals.


Sam does cooking groups with the pre-school children which help develop their skills in using tools, maths and language development.

Leanne joined Sunflower in 2018. Leanne is one of our Pre-school seniors at Hyde. Leanne has worked her up the way from college placement to Senior Childcare Practitioner.

Meet our senior SENCO/PODS lead coordinator Jayde Conway. Jayde is passionate about ensuring every child receives the required support for their unique needs and champions this at our Hyde setting.
