The Sunflower Children's Centre is an innovative day nursery offering full flexible daycare and a support partnership for parents.

Sunflower is an award-winning Day Nursery owned and managed by mums who want to deliver the best care possible, to innovate and educate each unique child and to ensure the best start in the important early years from birth to school and beyond.

As a paperless nursery, a transparent electronic learning system is used which enables parents to access their child's learning 24/7.

Throughout the day parents receive electronic updates, enabling to feel part of the child's day and not missing any precious moments.

The Sunflower Children's Centre is a purposely built secure setting, designed to ensure children have continuous access to a covered outside area whatever the weather.

The outdoor area provides natural surfaces and is being set up by experienced practitioners to ensure children have the correct resources to excite and engage, encouraging confident, enthusiastic learners.

The preschool children also have the opportunity to attend Forest school which is within the grounds.

My daughter has been at preschool since November 2020 and since starting, she has grown and developed amazingly. The staff have been amazing and made me feel at ease and also have been involved and given me tips. I couldn't thank the preschool staff enough. My daughter loves attending and is very social,
we will both be sad when she leaves.

My daughter has been attending Sunflower Children's Centre since she was 10 months old and is now in preschool. When she first started, I was very apprehensive about leaving my baby for the first time, to return to work but I was always put at ease by the staff and my daughter has grown really close
to all the team and in particular, her key worker. She loves going into nursery and they are really helping her to prepare for school next September. She always comes home and tells me everything she's been up to - and the daily update is amazing at seeing what she's been up to, with photos throughout the day. I looked around a lot of nurseries when she was smaller and I am so glad I picked Sunflower Children's Centre. She will be so sad to leave in September!

My daughter started at nursery in the baby room, and the staff in there are fantastic and we're very helpful and kept me updated throughout the day with pictures and posts in the app that they use.
My daughter has recently moved up to the toddler room, and again, the staff are fantastic and very helpful
with all our questions and requirements that we have.

Brilliant nursery. My daughter loves it, she’s come on so much over the time she’s been there. She could barely string a sentence together before starting, now she’s a little chatterbox, always coming home telling me about her day how much fun she’s had and how she loves her teachers. Can’t recommend this nursery enough. My son loves it and doesn’t even look back when he walks in, he is that excited. He’s been attending for over a year since before he was 1-year-old. All the staff are helpful, friendly and keep you informed. The app is brilliant to keep you up to date. Can’t fault
it; I know my son is happy and safe, which makes me happy!

My daughter started at Sunflower in the seedlings room when she had just turned one. As a lockdown baby, she was extremely nervous and scared of strangers and hadn’t seen anyone other than myself and her dad in months, so we were very nervous about leaving her!
She took to the nursery and staff ridiculously
quickly. After screaming all through her settling in sessions, we were receiving photos of her beaming within an hour of dropping her off!
The updates via the app mean we get regular pictures of her enjoying herself, and communication to parents is excellent, especially given the current circumstances.
I can’t thank Sunflower for how hard they have worked to bring her out of her shell. She is so much more confident and has come on leaps and bounds in her short time there.

My child has been attending this nursery since he was 9-month-old and is now in pre-school. The staff have been amazing in every room he’s been in, and the communication from the staff has always been excellent. This nursery is perfect for anxious parents as they keep you updated throughout the day
as to the activities/mealtimes/toilet times etc and send regular photos throughout the day so you can see what they’re getting up to. They update milestones that parents can play an active role in, and the staff are always approachable and happy to talk about anything. My son loves coming to nursery, as he’s involved in lots of activities/learning, and his independence is always promoted.

My son started in September and the staff helped him settle in immediately. They have worked with us to encourage him to try more new foods after he became a bland eater and now will try most foods again. He has developed so much in such a short space of time and amazes us each day with the things he
has learnt. All the staff are amazing and so welcoming. I love the way you get updates throughout the day and would recommend The Sunflower Children's Centre to everyone.

The nursery is well organised and absolutely child and family orientated. They take care of health and safety of every child as well as their educational and recreational needs. They work closely with parents and try to accommodate to needs and wishes of every family. They update daily (even hourly
with an app) how the child is spending the day, including activities and meals. The staff is always friendly and approachable no matter how little or big your concern is.

Sunflower is a brilliant nursery and always goes above and beyond for the children. My son has attended the nursery since he was 6 months old and has always loved it. He adores every single staff member that is there. They have made him into the confident little boy that he is today and he will without

A fantastic nursery. My son has been at Sunflower coming up to 2 years now and we couldn’t be happier. He really enjoys attending and has learnt so much. This is an amazing nursery and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The setting is bright and clean. The staff are amazing - they know everyone's name and are very helpful and knowledgeable. The environment is so friendly and welcoming. Our son cheers as he arrives. We keep in touch through an app
and pictures are posted throughout the day, along with details of what's been happening, meals eaten and sleeping patterns. If you are looking for a nursery in Hyde, you must visit here. You will be delighted with what Sunflower have to offer.

My daughter loves attending Sunflowers in Hyde and has done since she started aged 16 months. The nursery provides excellent care and attention to each child’s individual needs and always strives to think of new ways to involve everyone.
The staff are fantastic and so helpful and supportive I have
never had any reservations about leaving my child in their care.
The introduction of Forest School has been an absolute triumph and deserves a special mention because I feel it has been a wonderful experience for all those that attended. The nursery holds lovely events for the children from celebrating the royal wedding with a “garden party” to hosting a Mother's Day afternoon tea.
The general environment of the nursery is welcoming and the outdoor play space is fantastic. The children are encouraged to be outdoors as much as possible and explore their environment from bug hunting to story time under the big tree in the summer. Quite simply, a fantastic nursery.

Elaine Sagar

Job Title: CEO Joined: 2008

Elaine embarked on a career in Childcare in 2008 and founded The Sunflower Group in 2014.


She is passionate about Early Years Education. She is a fervent supporter of all aspects of early learning, representing the Early Years in her role as OBC Co-Chairperson, Schools Forum (EY Representative) and Chair of Tameside Nursery Network. Elaine is also a regular contributor to BBC Breakfast TV when representing the Early Years sector in the North West.


Elaine takes a "hands-on" approach to supporting her ever-expanding team of practitioners.


Elaine is committed to every child receiving the best start in their early education.

Dawn

Dawn Gibbons

Job Title: Operations Director/Nursery Manager Joined: 2014

Dawn Gibbons joined the company at its inception in 2014 as a Level 6 Lead Practitioner.


She has progressed through to now leading practice across the company alongside managing her Hyde setting with her senior management team.


Dawn has been recognised nationally for her dedication to practice when she received the National Award for Operations Director from Nursery World in 2019.


She is committed to ensuring that children and families are at the heart of everything we do at Sunflower.

Natalie

Natalie Hoszowskyj

Job Title: Parent Partnership Manager Joined: 2013

Although Natalie took up her position as one of the Managerial Team in 2014 and has worked for the company CEO for the past 21 years. Natalie has a wealth of managerial experience that she has brought to the team. Along with her experience in childcare, Natalie is able to lead and support both her team and families within the centre.


Natalie has recently become our Partnership with Parents Manager. This role was created to ensure our families always receive the best support across all our centres.

Bob

Bob Wynn

Job Title: Training Director Joined: 2009

Meet our Training Director Bob Wynn. Bob joined the company as a Headmaster bringing many years of leadership in education to the company. When the school closed Bob developed his skills in other areas and retrained to lead our team in quality professional development.


Bob leads our team in Safeguarding, First Aid and Self-regulation. He also leads Physical Education and Forest School along with the team and children.

Andrina

Andrina Biddle

Job Title: Duty Manager/ Speech & Language Champion Lead Joined: 2014

Andrina joined Sunflower Hyde as a Senior Practitioner in 2014, bringing a wealth of knowledge in all areas of practice and her specialism and passion for Speech and Language. Andrina progressed to our Senior Management Team and now holds the position of Duty Manager at our Hyde Setting.


Andrina is our Speech and Language Champion and not only does she teach practitioners and support children within our nurseries, but she also supports other nurseries by sharing her skills.

Wendy Barnes

Wendy joined our Sunflower team back in 2018, bringing a wealth of experience in all areas of practice to our team. Wendy progressed to Buds Room Leader and her caring nature is what makes Wendy perfect to Lead this room and team.

Sam

Sam Holland

Job Title: Executive Chef/ Level 6 Childcare Practitioner Joined: 2020

Sam joined Sunflower in 2020 as our setting chef, however, Sam has previously been with the company for many years. Sam has completed a BA Hons in Childcare as well as holding many qualifications in catering.


She caters for all of our children and provides nutritious homemade meals.


Sam does cooking groups with the pre-school children which help develop their skills in using tools, maths and language development.

Leanne joined Sunflower in 2018. Leanne is one of our Pre-school seniors at Hyde. Leanne has worked her up the way from college placement to Senior Childcare Practitioner.
