Acorn at Westcroft is a nursery in the Westcroft retail district, offering a spacious and well-equipped range of rooms for children to play and explore.

There are four small, outdoor play areas and in keeping with Acorn's strong emphasis on outdoor play and learning, the nursery has its own Forest School site at the nearby Howe Park Wood.

The nursery has a full-time cook and all meals and snacks are freshly prepared on site. The experienced and well qualified staff team are very warm and welcoming and look forward to showing prospective parents around the nursery.

The nursery offers Forest School sessions that take place weekly for older children as well as many planned events throughout the year such as; sports days, graduations, messy stay and plays and cultural themed days. The nursery is also passionate about getting involved with the local community, regularly visiting a group of elderly people at the Shenley Parish Council building nearby; hosting visits from the fire brigade, police, dentist and vets and arranging days where parents can get involved in nursery life through reading, cooking, show and tell and joining the nursery for forest school sessions.

A home visit from the nursery manager and your child’s key person is offered to all new families as children benefit from meeting their key person in a familiar environment, before attending the nursery for settling-in sessions.

  • Fees are inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities.
    We do not charge registration fees, only a £100 deposit which is refunded against the first month’s fees. We don’t charge for settling in sessions, but we do expect payment for all nursery fees to be paid up front at the beginning of each month, which is standard practice for all childcare providers. We do not charge for bank holidays, our four training days each year, or for the three days closure between Christmas and New Year. We do, however, charge for days children don’t attend through illness or holidays, apart from exceptional circumstances.

The nursery offers so much provision to develop many skills. My daughter loves Forest School days, especially the hot chocolate heated on the fire. The staff are amazing, and everyone knows my child. The food is fantastic, and we love that we can track what she has eaten on the app. They provide many

Amazing nursery with competent staff. Lots of activities and space. The chef/food is amazing - very nutritious and great variety.
Cleanliness is "satisfactory" because on a few occasions, I have noticed the toilets were a little unclean as the day goes and after the children use them. Could be checked
more frequently.

This is an amazing nursery that all three of my children have attended. The management is friendly and very helpful. The key workers plan and prepare fantastic activities that help the children’s learning in a fun and very active way! They have forest school for children in the two older groups which
is throughly enjoyed! This is an eco-friendly nursery that used natural materials rather than lots of plastic! Brilliant childcare overall!

My child joined this nursery after his previous nursery closed down. So far he is happy at Acorn and looks excited every morning to go there. At the moment we as parents are happy and satisfied but it's been 2-3 weeks to be 100% confident.

My daughter has attended Acorn Westcroft since 10 months old and she's now nearly 3 and a half. This nursery is fantastic, which is entirely due to the staff being fantastic. They're very experienced staff who work well together and communicate well with parents. My child is very well cared for, she
learns a lot and has a great time. She has a strong bond with nursery staff and any time I have an issue or query I can raise it easily with them. You can see what they're up to easily through the app and my daughter has become a better eater by sitting down and having a hot meal with other children at lunchtime every day. The food is very good. Forest school for the older ones is a great experience too. I'm very glad I chose this nursery - it'll be sad when she has to leave and start school!

Great nursery, staff are very friendly and welcoming every morning. They provide lots of learning activities both indoors and outdoors. The thing I love the most about Acorn is that they do forest school and that they post daily pictures of what the children in the room have been up to for the day,
so I get to see my daughter playing with her friends. My daughter loves coming to nursery, sometimes she complains because she wants to stay longer. She loves the food there too!
