Acorn at Westcroft is a nursery in the Westcroft retail district, offering a spacious and well-equipped range of rooms for children to play and explore.

There are four small, outdoor play areas and in keeping with Acorn's strong emphasis on outdoor play and learning, the nursery has its own Forest School site at the nearby Howe Park Wood.

The nursery has a full-time cook and all meals and snacks are freshly prepared on site. The experienced and well qualified staff team are very warm and welcoming and look forward to showing prospective parents around the nursery.

The nursery offers Forest School sessions that take place weekly for older children as well as many planned events throughout the year such as; sports days, graduations, messy stay and plays and cultural themed days. The nursery is also passionate about getting involved with the local community, regularly visiting a group of elderly people at the Shenley Parish Council building nearby; hosting visits from the fire brigade, police, dentist and vets and arranging days where parents can get involved in nursery life through reading, cooking, show and tell and joining the nursery for forest school sessions.

A home visit from the nursery manager and your child’s key person is offered to all new families as children benefit from meeting their key person in a familiar environment, before attending the nursery for settling-in sessions.

  • Fees are inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities.
    We do not charge registration fees, only a £100 deposit which is refunded against the first month’s fees. We don’t charge for settling in sessions, but we do expect payment for all nursery fees to be paid up front at the beginning of each month, which is standard practice for all childcare providers. We do not charge for bank holidays, our four training days each year, or for the three days closure between Christmas and New Year. We do, however, charge for days children don’t attend through illness or holidays, apart from exceptional circumstances.

We decided to put our second child at Acorns following a decline of service at the nursery our eldest was at. We decided on Acorns following a recommendation from a friend. Acorns have more than lived up to the recommendation. We love the staff - they're lovely, good with our son and always happy to
help. It's also refreshing to see male nurses!
We love what the nursery do - there's a lot of outdoor play which we didn't get from our previous one. They do forest school too which we're looking forward for our son to attend.
The communication is on point - we can message in at any point and get swift responses. We get a daily summary of what our son ate, how much he slept etc, as well as a daily overall summary of what the kids did with pictures. The food is also good and varied.
The nursery also regularly organise parent's stay and plays.
We love that our son goes here and would definitely recommend the nursery! You get more than what you pay for!

My daughter has settled in very well at Acorns Westcroft - she wasn't so sure at first but the staff have made her feel at ease and she is now excited to go to nursery.
The app is updated frequently with photos and a description of their activities at the end of each day. The staff communicate well
with us and let us know if anything has happened or if they need to clarify anything. I'm really glad we decided to have our daughter attend this nursery.

We are absolutely thrilled with our experience at Acorn for our daughter. From day one, the staff has been incredibly welcoming and nurturing, making the transition smooth and comforting for both our daughter and us as parents. Our daughter has flourished, developing new skills and forming friendships,

Our experience with the nursery has been great. My daughter was made comfortable in Acorns Day Nursery or during the transition to Squirrels. She just loves going there. My requests for speech support are being taken into account and I can see some improvement in her speech. Would love the same support
for when she starts potty training as well.

My son has been in the nursery for 3 months. He was going to another sister nursery but it had to close and we were given the option to be relocated. I didn't consider Acorn at Wescroft at first but I am so happy to have found it and chosen it now. I can see that the staff genuinely care about my son
and he always responds with a smile when someone opens the nursery door in the morning. It is a relief to know that he is enjoying his time there, playing and learning and that he has all the support he needs. Thank you, team of Acorn at Wescroft.

I have used Acorns for a number of years for both my girls. My youngest daughter has settled extremely well here and loves attending nursery. All the staff are attentive and have been in the setting for a number of years which always fills you with confidence.
The app is always updated and photos
are taken daily of the children so you can see activities throughout the day. I love how they go around the local shops/libraries for walks.
The food is always a hit for my little one too.

Our son started Acorns at Westcroft in January after moving from another nursery. I was quite anxious about him having to start somewhere new but am delighted with the way he quickly settled in. In just 2.5 months he’s come such a long way in development, speech and independence. I can see the way the
effort the staff put in each day has really helped him do things for himself. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this nursery.

My son settled into the nursery quickly. I know that he is having a lovely time there because he is normally smiling when I pick him up. There are plenty of things they do with him every day. I like that they go out to shops, parks and the library.

Both of my boys have settled into their new rooms really well, lots of updates and always really good feedback of how their days have been, any issues we are either contacted at the time to be made aware or at the end of the day if it isn’t major. Lots of opportunities to speak to the boys' key workers

Our 2-year-old daughter has been going here for about 2 months now for full time. The teachers and the staff are amazing. Their communication is fabulous and are always there to help with any questions you may have. I love the safety measures they have in place and feel super safe with my kids being
here. They always make us feel welcome at pick up and drop off. We would highly recommend this daycare as a great place.

Our daughter has been attending the nursery for approx 18 months since she was 1 year old. The staff are compassionate when she has found things tricky, guided her through learning new skills and made great bonds with the children. The admin staff are very helpful when we have had questions surrounding
funding, payments or scheduling. My daughter has great fun during her nursery days, she eats well each day and her communication has soared during her time there. Would definitely recommend!

Our daughter settled into the nursery quickly and loves it. She enjoys going each day and has made many new friends and often comes home saying the names of staff and lists them amongst her friends at nursery. She enjoys the trips out to the shops, library and park and has started to take part in some

I’ve moved my child from another nursery to Acorn Day Nursery Westcroft following various recommendations. It was a real change not only for my daughter but also for me as a parent. Coming from a bad experience to this, it was a real relief. There are daily updates on the activities that children do
and their development. The fact that I can personally take my daughter and interact with her friends makes my day. In the previous one, I had to wait for my daughter to be brought to me which was a little bit odd. I am really happy with the overall experience and especially that they are ready to answer to any question that I have and don’t need to wait or insist. Coming from an awful previous experience, I really appreciate it even more. Definitely recommend it.

Our little one just moved up to the older group and the team has been amazing with the transition and supported her during this time.
She enjoys spending time at the nursery and the team makes it so easy for parents to be part of it all by organising various events - in February we had stay-and-play
sessions where we could just join our kids for some fun time and explore the resources they use every day to play and learn.
