Acorn at Westcroft is a nursery in the Westcroft retail district, offering a spacious and well-equipped range of rooms for children to play and explore.

There are four small, outdoor play areas and in keeping with Acorn's strong emphasis on outdoor play and learning, the nursery has its own Forest School site at the nearby Howe Park Wood.

The nursery has a full-time cook and all meals and snacks are freshly prepared on site. The experienced and well qualified staff team are very warm and welcoming and look forward to showing prospective parents around the nursery.

The nursery offers Forest School sessions that take place weekly for older children as well as many planned events throughout the year such as; sports days, graduations, messy stay and plays and cultural themed days. The nursery is also passionate about getting involved with the local community, regularly visiting a group of elderly people at the Shenley Parish Council building nearby; hosting visits from the fire brigade, police, dentist and vets and arranging days where parents can get involved in nursery life through reading, cooking, show and tell and joining the nursery for forest school sessions.

A home visit from the nursery manager and your child’s key person is offered to all new families as children benefit from meeting their key person in a familiar environment, before attending the nursery for settling-in sessions.

  • Fees are inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities.
    We do not charge registration fees, only a £100 deposit which is refunded against the first month’s fees. We don’t charge for settling in sessions, but we do expect payment for all nursery fees to be paid up front at the beginning of each month, which is standard practice for all childcare providers. We do not charge for bank holidays, our four training days each year, or for the three days closure between Christmas and New Year. We do, however, charge for days children don’t attend through illness or holidays, apart from exceptional circumstances.

Extremely happy with the nursery and very friendly staff. Both my boys love coming to the nursery. Never had any problems. Staff are always happy and always smiling. Only thing I would change is to have bigger garden.

Our experience was amazing since the day he joined til now. All the staff are really encouraging, patient and helpful. I remember him as a shy lad when he joined. He is grown up and more mature now.

My daughter has settled in really well. The baby room staff have made me feel secure and confident about my daughter going to nursery and I appreciate the constant support from them. All the staff are friendly, and you are guaranteed to receive a smile and a warm welcoming when walking through the door.

The staff at Acorn Nursery, Westcroft, have been instrumental in the development of my son. When my son joined Acorn in September 2015, he spoke very few words of English, used to never interact with elders at all. But his duration at Westcroft has helped his communication skills, and confidence to
interact with adults and mingle with groups without his parents around. He is a lot more confidence and independent.

I cannot praise the staff at Westcroft nursery enough, they have been amazing over the time my daughter has been there. They always update us with her progress and send us updates on elog which is always nice to receive when you're away at work.

My son has learnt a lot at nursery. The care the staff have for my son is excellent. The manager is amazing at running the nursery and I feel it's a very safe environment. The activities they do, my son loves, and comes home talking about everything he does. They have a good variety of food and it has

An all round fantastic nursery, offering fantastic support for my son. He has settled in so well. The staff are amazing and very welcoming.
Generally the nursery is always immaculately clean and I would never question the hygiene in the building. Security is great, they check everyone before they enter
the building/open the door.

I have been extremely happy with the standard of care and education provided by all the staff here.
