Bright Horizons Southgate Day Nursery and Preschool (formerly Bright Horizons Active Learning Southgate) opened in 2011 and is a stunning purpose-designed facility.

The nursery occupies a fabulous fully refurbished traditional building where great emphasis is placed upon big windows to maximise the feeling of light and space within the building, the aim to bring the outdoors in!

The nursery offers extracurricular Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes, and unusually for a London nursery, it has a large garden at the rear where children can play sports and enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities.

The nursery was proud to be rated 'Good' by Ofsted in August 2022.

My son has been at this nursery since he was 10-months-old and sending him here has been the best decision I ever made! The staff at every level have been fantastic, and the management has always been caring, professional and always there to answer any questions and have gone above and beyond to help
me. My son is excited to go every morning and comes home every evening telling me about all the things he has done that day. He has progressed so well in relation to learning numbers and letters and also in relation to socialising and expressing himself. I can't recommend this nursery highly enough... it is worth every penny!

Absolutely delighted with the level of care for our child, who has started walking after a couple of months at nursery. The staff are incredible and we are forever grateful for their support and encouragement. Could not recommend this enough.

We love the nursery. The staff are always welcoming and accommodating. It has been a pleasure to see my daughter happily go into nursery. She was sad to leave for school but has been well prepared for her time in reception.

Very friendly and responsive team both management and carers. My son seems to be very happy going to the nursery which is the most important for me. For things that could improve are; the variety of food as it never changed, it could be good to make changes to expose children to different flavour activities
as the sensory room not in use and didn't see much solid activity plan for the children as it was just random playing. Development plan - never had a conversation on this. I would like my child to develop skills and how nursery approaches it. Also would like to know how nursery record amends child progress and give feedback to parents.

We asked the Southgate Nursery to take our daughter on a temporary basis until her usual nursery would open. We received EXCEPTIONAL support in all aspects of our daughter's time there. She absolutely loved it! Staff were careful, took health and safety very seriously, very very attentive to our requests,
a very good experience. It's a pity it is too far away from us!

Bright Horizons Southgate is a fantastic place for young children to have fun, learn and develop. My son has started school and his teachers have been very impressed with his social and academic skills. I have to say this is largely down to the manager and her team for all the hard work they put into
preparing children for school. I’m confident my daughter is in safe hands.

My daughter attends Bright Horizons, Southgate. She is a very happy little girl and enjoys coming to nursery daily and even gets upset if I pick her up early. She has attended this nursery since she was 9 months old and is now in preschool. The transitions to each room have been so smooth and she has
enjoyed her time in each room. My daughter has a great bond with the staff in her room and also has a great bond with the management team. She gets greeted daily with positive energy, big smiles and such a friendly vibe as soon as you walk through the door. She enjoys the extracurricular sessions yoga, zumba and Spanish. Also, she really enjoys doing sports with the sports coach and has a great bond with her. The nursery has recently had a refurbishment which looks great and is also very clean and well kept. I love that there are separate gardens for the babies, toddlers and over 2's. The sensory room is also a great calming place to play for all the children.

Being a first-time mum I was very nervous about picking the right nursery for my daughter. It was hard enough that I had to go back to work but to leave her with strangers was very scary. It turns out I had nothing to worry about! Everyone at the nursery has been great. My daughter can’t wait to get
dropped off in the mornings and she settled in so well. Her keyworker has such a calm and gentle nature and gives her lots of attention (which she craves). She has developed so much in so many ways thanks to the nursery and their care and attention to each individual child. She has now moved into toddlers, which is a really exciting milestone - I love that I can see what she has been up to each day by looking at the app. I can see what she’s eaten, how much she’s slept and what she has been getting up to in the day - it makes me feel a part of it and I look forward to seeing pictures of her smiling. It’s great to see her so happy, at the end of the day what more could a parent ask for?

As a grandparent, you want the very best of care and after visiting many nurseries we chose Bright Horizons Southgate. It is a wow! 5 stars, wonderful, warm and welcoming environment. The management team and staff are professional, friendly and approachable.
All rooms are equipped with stimulating
toys and activities, the nursery provides extra activities, yoga, sports, dance, Spanish and teaching with fun and inspiration. The gardens are spacious and well equipped the children love running around and using all the equipment.
My granddaughter settled really quickly this was partly due to the care and attention and commitment of the staff in the baby room. She has now successfully and happily graduated to the toddler room.

Having visited several nurseries, choosing this nursery was a no brainer. Although it is a little further from home, my husband and I felt completely reassured to leave our 11-month baby girl in their care. On our first settling in day they welcomed us by name, introduced us to the team and their robust
system of care management is solid and as a result staff morale is high. It was so comforting to see the same familiar faces who got to know my baby so well so quickly. We were blown away by their recording system which shares every detail of our babys day including photos and videos with us real-time which is unique. We were also so impressed by the creative activities our baby did which we took home with us. She settled in so quickly and loves going to nursery. Thank you Southgate team for doing a brilliant job.

The location was the main reason why we selected this nursery. It was kind of difficult to communicate with the staff as there are often changes. I didn't have any contact with my son's main carer during his last days at the nursery so that was a little bit sad.

The staff are welcoming and appear to take a genuine interest in my child. I am glad I chose this nursery as the conditions my child spends his day in gives me peace of mind. The staff play, cuddle and bond with him and keep him clean. He is also learning from the school, like identifying objects and
body parts, saying thank you etc. I have learnt a lot from the staff about how to care for a baby.

My child has been at this nursery for 7 months now. She has really developed in this time and I can see she comes home and praises what she has learnt at nursery. She enjoys nursery and loves the adults and the children. We are happy with the learning and the care at the nursery.

Staff are friendly. You can tell that they really enjoy working with the children. As sad as I am to leave my son there every day when I go to work I know he is being looked after well.
The food is good and my son regularly devours all of it. He also enjoys the activities that are arranged by the
staff. The staff keep good track of developmental stages and report back to the parents regularly. I am particularly enjoying the use of the parents app.

My daughter started at the nursery a few months ago and has settled in well. The staff are lovely in both the baby and the toddler rooms and always ready to answer your queries. My child has loved her time in the baby room and I have been extremely happy with the staff looking after her daily care.
My first child went through the baby room 2 years ago and I feel he used to do more activities - lots of painting/artwork/yoga etc.
I receive far less artwork to take home from
my second child.
We used to get weekly photos two years ago also, and now none.
I would like to be kept better informed of my child's bad behaviour so I can help her with this.

Our son started nursery last month at 11 months old in the baby room. The settling in process was very smooth and it was amazing to see him so quickly feel comfortable with the staff looking after him. When I drop him off in the morning there is a warm welcome from management and staff in the room,
everyone is so happy to see my son and he is just as happy to see them and say good morning. I leave every day knowing that he is happy and in safe hands. He eats, sleeps and plays just as he would at home (if not better!). In just one month he is so confident with walking and starting to say so many new words. Any concerns we’ve ever had have been easily resolved by a quick conversation and I feel confident that the staff really care about us as parents and our son’s development and happiness. We visited so many nurseries in the local area and none of them even came close to this one.

My son started in the baby room in April 2018 and acclimatized very quickly. He has loved his time in the baby room and I put this down to his key worker who is wonderful. He adores her and I feel completely at ease that his good being and development are in safe hands. The food is also of a good quality
and my son eats well. My son has made good friends with other children and he looks forward to going to nursery. There was an organised sports day in the local park which was a great event. The management is level-headed and friendly. If your child has a rash, they notify you but don't demand that you take the child home if the child is otherwise well. What could be better? I do get concerned that the staff are sometimes stretched. When one staff member is cleaning children the ratio of staff to children looks sparse.
