First Steps Day Nursery & Pre-School Ltd

Amazing, caring staff. Working hand in hand with my child and I - they go out of their way to make my child comfortable, despite their difficulties. Fantastic SEND support and a lovely atmosphere.

We chose First Steps after looking at several other nurseries and haven't been disappointed.

Our little boy has started in the youngest group (Cubs) and is soon moving to the next group (Hedgehogs). The staff have been preparing him by gradually increasing his time in Hedgehogs and he's already happy to go to staff Cubs and Hedgehogs now.

The staff are very nurturing and put on themed play activities that they learn from. The staff encourage social eating where the children (even in Cubs) sit together at a tiny table and eat together (obviously with help from staff).

You can see how your little one is getting on throughout the day by logging onto the Parent Zone to see what they have eaten, nappy changes and even occasional pictures too which is nice. If there are ever any concerns about your little one the nursery call to let you know and discuss it with you.

But most importantly our little boy is happy here and we feel he is cared for. We would highly recommend First Steps.

I am impressed with the nursery, had a few concerns and when I spoke to management this has been dealt with straight away and I have been reassured. My child loves nursery and it has helped him develop loads. The food they serve is always healthy and a great variety. I really like the staff, they are always happy and chatty. Policies are followed by staff and this is shown throughout the nursery from the staff's knowledge and through displays.

The nursery has recently reviewed its menus which look lovely.

My baby has been attending first steps nursery since January and I am very happy with the care she receives. She gets very happy when we get to nursery and even tries to say 'nursery'. The girls in the baby room are amazing she loves seeing them in the mornings.

I love First Steps Nursery. Reasonably priced (best prices in the area). The app is a brilliant idea as I am kept up to date as to what my daughter has eaten, when her nappy was changed and what activities she is doing and the staff also upload photos of her. All the staff are friendly, nursery is secure, clean and there are plenty of activities for the children. The food looks and smells amazing and has taught my daughter to try and like so many different things. I definitely feel relaxed when my daughter is at nursery. I have recommended this nursery to many people.

The staff are brilliant, kind, caring, loving and professional. Every day they give you a full rundown on everything they have done, meals, and activities. My children love the staff there and are always hugging them and my youngest tells me that her teachers are her best friends. The admin manager is brilliant and takes on an active role in the nursery and doesn't restrict herself to sitting in an office as she was once a nursery nurse, then room leader within the nursery. All the staff there are truly brilliant. The other stand out staff member is another teacher, who always has the best outfits for dress up days, takes charge of decorating the nursery for events and does the best 'frozen style' plaits. The nursery is excellent and provides quality care. I have recommended many times to people and will continue to do so.

I feel she has come on leaps and bounds in all areas of development. I would definitely recommend First Steps Day Nursery.

My daughter goes to this nursery 3 days a week and we haven’t looked back since she began here as an 8-month-old baby!

I have 2 sons who attend First Steps Nursery, my youngest having very high sensory needs. The staff and management have gone out of their way to ensure he feels as comfortable as possible at nursery, even by buying new equipment to cater for his personal needs and requesting extra training to learn more about children with Autism/sensory need. As a mother, I feel completely at ease knowing my sons are in an excellent nursery which is more than 100% dedicated in our children's well being and needs. Both my sons have come on massively since being at First Steps Nursery.

I cannot praise everyone enough for their support and understanding, I would recommend the nursery to anyone.

My son loves going to First Steps Day Nursery. The staff are brilliant with him and you can tell they really care about the children. They give useful feedback when I see them in person and detailed reports about his day via the app. The management are also very friendly and understanding. He's learning and developing at a fantastic rate by attending.

Thanks to First Steps, my once introvert, shy toddler at a previous nursery, is now a bubbly sociable "big girl" who skips into nursery (literally) and has lots of friends. This is down to the hard work every single staff member puts in here. They have not pushed her, they have just provided her with encouragement and given her the confidence she needed! On pick up, the staff give the parents the individual time to tell you stories of your little one's day! I am one very happy Mummy! Thank you to all of you for making such a huge difference!

The staff at First Steps Day Nursery are amazing. They are all friendly and approachable and they will do everything within their power to accommodate you and your child.

My son is thriving at the nursery and he absolutely loves it. It is a very homely environment, his welfare is of paramount importance to staff and he is coming along so well. The care he receives is second to none.

I have recommended and will continue to recommend the nursery, to friends and family.

My child had never been to nursery before and so he struggled to settle in at first, this really worried me but the staff were so supportive and reassuring. They let me do as many settling sessions as I wanted until I felt happy about leaving him. They did their best to distract him, tried lots of different tricks and things to keep him happy and this made me feel so much better. Now he absolutely loves coming and has a great bond with the staff in his room. I could not be happier with the care that he gets whilst I am at work. They are always posting pictures of what he has been up to on the app, so I can see all the fab activities he gets to do!

I have two children who who attended First Steps for the past 4 years. There has been a changeover of ownership and management in this time which was unsettling but I can honestly say it has gone from strength to strength and is a fantastic nursery. It is led by an extremely focused and friendly management team who have an open door policy which is great as you can pop in on your way to or from work. Nothing is too much trouble and any query is dealt with quickly. All staff are outstanding with the children and feel like personal friends as the years have gone by. There is always something going on from visiting fire stations to bringing your grandparent in and there is a pleasant atomosphere. I can go to work safe in the knowledge my children are happy and being cared for as well as they were if they were at home. They are shown lots of love and care which is so important to me. The food is always fresh and cooked from scratch and has lots of variety. I would definitely recommend

My 10 month old has recently started at First Steps Day Nursery, at first he was having trouble settling in, however, the staff in his room have been really good and he now loves going in and seeing their friendly faces.

My child has been attending this nursery since July and I couldn't be more happier. After viewing a few nurseries in the local area I decided to bring my child to First Steps because of the homely feeling it has. I feel like my child is cared for on daily bases just as well as myself which makes me feel reassured whilst I'm at work. When I ring the nursery during my dinner break the manager and deputy manager are helpful and put me through to someone in my child's room. The office has an open door policy so if I have any queries they are always happy to help. The foods that are on the menu are well balanced and my child really enjoys these, I like that the nursery offers some meals which are vegan and everything is made fresh there because I know they are not full of foods that are harmful to my child. The nursery uses an online system called parent zone which myself and my wife access throughout the day via an app on our phones, this is updated with what he's been doing during the day.
