First Steps Day Nursery & Pre-School Ltd

From the moment you step through the door of this nursery, you feel part of the family. Not only do they welcome my son daily with big smiles they also welcome my eldest each day and ask about his day (he's in school). My little boy started with a number of medical needs and the staff at the nursery have been fantastic and very supportive, even when new medical issues have presented the staff have been so reassuring and made me feel confident and comfortable leaving my son in their care.

We are very pleased with First Steps and both our children currently attend. The manager is really hands-on and always knows what has happened with all the children which are reassuring. I’ve been particularly impressed with how the preschool room has helped my son with fussy eating habits, they’ve been so patient and encouraging with him. Both our children love attending and eat a really varied and balanced diet there, with plenty of outdoor play. The nursery is also very clean.

We are really pleased we chose First Steps Nursery for our daughter. There is a warm, friendly environment and the staff go above and beyond to care for the needs of every child. Staff plan a range of engaging activities every day, linking to the 7 areas of learning and development in the EYFS and we've been impressed at how quickly staff have identified the activities our daughter enjoys. Communication with the nursery is excellent. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of the staff, she has settled in well and seems to really enjoy her time there.

What a fantastic group of women who genuinely care for the children in the nursery. I am so pleased and grateful for how these ladies have supported my son with his eating habits, toilet training and his speech. The difference in my son from when he started nursery to now is remarkable and the nursery maintains very good communication with me on everything. My son always walks in with a cheeky smile on his face and on the days he isn’t in a smiley mood his met with smiles, encouragement and hugs. This is very reassuring for me as a parent. Staff are always very friendly, and helpful and in our experience have gone the extra mile to support my son. I appreciate these lovely ladies for the amazing care and for creating a lovely warm environment for our children.

My 2 year old currently attends First Steps Day Nursery and has thoroughly enjoyed it from day one. Despite entering the nursery during COVID-19, I have always felt comfortable with our choice as our child has never been upset being left even though we weren't able to drop her off and settle her. Her communication and particularly her speech are excellent and I believe this to be a testament to the variety of engaging activities provided such as reading books, singing, crafts and free play with the other children. The outside space is also a huge positive at this setting as it is well maintained again with a variety of activities from simply kicking a ball to musical instruments.

Communication by the nursery is excellent with the use of Parent Zone throughout each session providing all the details on meals, naps and nappies alongside pictures of my daughter enjoying her day. They regularly hold parent's mornings to enable a face to face catch up and are always happy to answer queries by phone or email.

My children really enjoy attending First Steps nursery.

The staff are caring and engage well with all children. They are always respectful, open and happy to answer parents' questions, worries or concerns. They create a lovely nurturing environment for children to learn in and I am confident that my children are safe whilst at nursery.

The activities that the children take part in are fun and have a clear structure that links to early years education. The use of Parent Zone has been an invaluable tool to keep abreast of the children’s activities and learning on a daily basis over the past couple of years. Communication is excellent from the management.

I would not hesitate to recommend the nursery.

We are extremely happy with First Steps and so glad that we made this choice for our little boy. Our son has some emerging additional needs and we feel indebted to all of the staff at the nursery especially the Manager and one member of staff in particular who ensure that a plethora of developmental opportunities are available for our son to engage in. Our little boy's unique qualities and individuality are celebrated and the nursery's focus on inclusive education and equality allows our son to feel safe, cared for, and valued every day. The staff are extremely professional and possess an excellent working knowledge and understanding of the early year's framework and how to provide stimulating activities, differentiate and provide the appropriate stretch and challenge for all children in their care. Our son is happy and content in the nursery and the quality of childcare provision is outstanding.

Friendly and professional staff who are always ready to help. Healthy and fresh meals.A lot of fun every day and learning through play. Many events and entertainment. My daughter loves to go there.

The team are lovely and my daughter is extremely happy here. She is developing well and we receive updates every day about her progress and the activities she is engaging in.

I do shift work and have had to change my daughter's schedule on numerous occasions. The nursery has been extremely accommodating and helpful, even when these changes have been short notice.

Kudos to all the team for their hard work and dedication in helping develop/educate our little precious little children.

My eldest started at a different nursery closer to home but we decided to move her after Covid due to reasons I won’t mention. The manager and the team were extremely welcoming from day one! Allowing us into the nursery for a tour with little one in tow, who loved it as soon as she entered. We felt extremely welcomed and fell in love with it straight away. We haven’t looked back. My youngest started when she was 10 months and she loves it too. It will be so hard to leave when they grow big enough to attend school. My girls love all the ladies and they all know all the children’s names. It’s like a little family. My girls have flourished and become so confident since attending! Thank you so much to all the wonderful ladies that work there!

Excellent quality of care from all the staff, great communication, staff go above and beyond to suit my child's individual needs. He has settled in really well which is a testament to the amazing job all the staff are doing.

Such a good nursery. I have used them twice now with both my boys. My firstborn used to go elsewhere but hated the other nursery so I was nervous about moving him here. No need to worry! He loved First Steps and never cried about being dropped off! He had speech and toileting issues but he progressed so much here and the staff helped with all aspects of his development! My second born still attends First Steps, he loves it! Doesn't look back when he goes through the door! Overall a great nursery. Friendly staff who love the children. Great atmosphere. Smooth drop-off and collection. Reasonable fees. Would definitely recommend!

I have been with First Steps for the past 5 years and my youngest son is currently there. I have been more than happy with the nursery and both my children have been happy and settled there. The learning is varied and they do fun activities whilst also focussing on development. The staff are great and have always made my children feel safe and happy. Management have been extremely supportive to me through challenging times when my son was born with a disability and have ensured that staff are fully informed on any additional care needs throughout his development. They have excellent opening hours and prices are really reasonable in comparison to other providers in the area.

I have sent both of my children to First Steps Day Nursery & Pre-School Ltd and they are just brilliant and continue to improve! The staff go above and beyond to ensure your child has the best day. My little girl was very apprehensive when starting back and literally after one day had made a bond with the staff. The ladies all have such a friendly manner and will deal with any queries right away. You are constantly updated on the app on your child's day which makes you feel at ease, especially when seeing photos of them with a smile on their face or busy playing. I chose this nursery because it was convenient for my work and I have not regretted it since. The management are great and your child's safety is at the forefront with excellent safeguarding on entry and the current Covid-19 measures which are in place. If you chose First Steps Day Nursery & Pre-School Ltd steps you would not be disappointed, they look after your little ones like they are their own!

The staff have been absolutely brilliant with our daughter. She’s learning so much and is so happy at First Steps. The facilities are great and the outside is a perfect size. Highly recommend First Steps to any parents.

My 2-year-old godson attends this nursery and since starting he has developed and grown into a bright and outgoing little boy. He loves going and loves the ladies who care for him. The management team are honest, caring and always happy to help. I feel that First Steps Day Nursery & Pre-School goes above and beyond to help the children in their care thrive to the best of their ability.

Very friendly environment, good communication between staff and parents, especially being able to monitor the child’s activities using the app. Very patient staff and they all respect parents' enquiries. They were kind and spent a lot of time arranging visits for my child so that he could be familiar with the place.

After my son attending another nursery prior to First Steps, I wish I had sent him here sooner. He never seemed very happy at the other place, however at First Steps he comes home talking about his day and his friends. He has settled so well and is very happy. The amount of support, activities and events at First Steps is amazing. It is very obvious that children are at the heart of everything they do; the food, care, support, resources are second to none. It is fantastic to get regular updates on what my son is doing throughout the days he attends. I can’t rate them enough.

My child smiles at all staff members as he enters the door and waves on exit. He really enjoys attending nursery. As a family, we are happy with all the measures which have been put in place to be covid safe and all the different activities which are offered to our child on a day to day basis. We love the fact that different meals are offered daily and different fruit and veg is given for my child to try each day. It is clear to see that all staff are passionate about their job and they always greet you and the children with a smile on their face. We love receiving photos of the different daily activities that my child participated in through the app and the feedback of what my child has done throughout their day.

Staff are always friendly and welcoming when we arrive, she loves coming into nursery that to me says she is in a happy safe environment which is all we can ask for.
