The Bright Horizons Harpenden Luton Road Day Nursery and Preschool is set in a beautifully converted Victorian house with rooms spread over three floors and a log cabin nursery.

Located within the catchment area of many schools which include Roundwood and Woodend school. Providing quality childcare and education, supporting every child’s development from the age of 3 months to 5 years.

The well-qualified team of highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced staff work together to provide a well-balanced programme of fun activities and learning experiences, within a carefully planned curriculum with Bright Horizons unique Ready for School programme. Fostering an enjoyment of early literacy and maths, with the Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians Enhancement, helping children to recognise letters, words and numbers in their environment.

The nursery features high quality educational resources to suit the age and stage of the children. There are role-play areas in every room to encourage cognitive development, as well as dedicated creative areas.

With all-inclusive fees, which means less to pack on a busy morning, onsite meals are prepared with nutrition in mind. From healthy lunches and snacks to the chosen branded nappies and wipes included in the fees.

My daughter is very happy at this nursery and is thriving. The staff are friendly and welcoming. I really like the app which shows what my daughter has been doing and also what she has eaten. This is a well-run nursery that I would recommend to others.

My child has attended Bright Horizons, Luton Road for over a year now. Firstly, despite the worldwide struggles with the pandemic, the nursery has tried it's upmost to maintain their efforts across the board. Their response to the pandemic has been incredibly effective and child centric. We have had
constant communication from the management dynamic duo and I have felt confident and assured sending my child there. Their efforts in ensuring rooms (and nursery) maintain their outstanding status are continuous and I am seeing their efforts in raising the bar even higher. My child is really thriving at the nursery, from the moment we are welcomed at the door, until collection, my child is in their element. Staff take the time to focus on the needs of each child and really work with us, the parents and the child, to allow them to flourish. I am impressed with the continued excellent efforts of the management and their entire team (including the chef and his team!).

My daughter attended to the nursery since she was 2 years old. She has been very happy attending the nursery and preschool from the first day and I really appreciate the care for her and the way the staff has been with her. Even through the covid period, we considered the nursery was a safe place for
our daughter and we decided to continue bringing her. She has learnt plenty of things and she loves to come home really excited about what she does during the day. it would not have been a better place for her in the early stages of her learning process. Many thanks.

Cannot recommend this nursery highly enough. Entrusting your babies to be looked after by someone else is a difficult decision, especially if they are very young. One of mine started at the nursery from 9 months old, the other at 2 years old and both are absolutely thriving from this dynamic, fun, social
and learning environment. Their personal development including language, feeding and communication has noticeably improved. All of the staff know the name of your child and they are treated individually. The staff are fantastic at what they do and the children adore them. The key worker system works well and the app is great for daily updates, so you know what your child has been up to, what they have eaten and how long they have slept etc. The children are always happy to go and settling in sessions before they start allows you and your child to settle well into the nursery experience. It is worth having a tour to see this for yourselves.

Our daughter has been attending nursery at Luton road since January. The staff have been so supportive and positive throughout, settling her into her move up to the toddler room. She is always excited for a day at nursery and it has really helped her development. We are updated regularly on her skills/development

Both our children have attended/are attending Bright Horizons, Luton Road. Our eldest was well prepared for school upon leaving. They have lots of fun. I can’t rate Bright Horizons, Luton Road enough. The management team are excellent. They keep you up to date and informed of anything that is happening at the nursery and are very quick to respond to any questions you might have. The teachers in the rooms are excellent, they really do care. I have now
had experience of the babies, toddlers and pre-school and both my boys go happily into nursery every day.

Our son has been at the nursery for 3 months and is thriving there. He grins with excitement when we drop him off and when we pick him up he is always so busy playing he’s hard to pull away. We love the updates and photos we get both through the app and at the end of the day. All of the staff are so
friendly and give him plenty of cuddles. Finally, the variety of food our son gets is amazing and the setting (inside and out) is absolutely lovely. I’d definitely recommend the nursery.

We have been really happy with the nursery and their communication especially as we moved our son to the nursery during the summer of 2020.

My son loves attending Bright Horizons Harpenden Luton Road Day Nursery and Preschool, especially for the delicious food, including the yogurt that is homemade. He loves playing with his friends in the garden and talking about what he had learnt in the day. He was very keen to talk about his birthday
to one member of staff in particular and was delighted when a birthday song was played for his fourth birthday. The nursery staff are extremely welcoming and supportive for any needs from dietary requirements to providing feedback on progress. The photos taken during one Christmas were adorable, capturing all that fun they had for the party and with Santa. I was an anxious parent leaving my son there at eleven months but it is wonderful to see how settled and confident he has become over the years. From learning about his favourite dinosaur's to dressing up as Spiderman for World Book Day. My husband and I would certainly recommend Bright Horizons Harpenden Luton Road Day Nursery and Preschool to parents.

I cannot fault this nursery. Both of my children have been there and the youngest is still there and loves going in every morning.
Each day he comes home talking about all the fun activities he has done and what he has been making and who he has been playing with.
The key point for me is the continuity
of staff at the nursery and how they really engage with the children. My little one loves the people in his room and it’s so easy to see how much they care for him when we do the handover as in the evening.
The team there is a credit to the Bright Horizons brand.

My daughter seems very happy at the nursery she seems to be achieving all her goals so far. The pandemic must be very difficult for all staff but they all seem to have been very helpful/accomodating through these rough times, always a smile on their face. When my child first went to nursery at 1years old I was anxious about the transition for her. The nursery were sensitive and empathic to this and really took the time to help my daughter settle in. My daughter loves her days at nursery and brings back lots of pictures and art of what she’s done. Since
being at the nursery her confidence and skills develop week on week and I know nursery is a key part of this.
During covid, the nursery were understanding about settling her back in after the lockdown. I felt my child was there and the staff have done a fantastic job at keeping me informed of the steps they take to ensure they’re meeting the changing government guidance accordingly.

We really like the nursery and feel like our son is really taken care of. He enjoys going in which really reassures us when we're at work and feel guilty that he's been there all day, although sometimes hard to tear him away! He adores his key worked and all the other staff he spends time with. It's
amazing to see sometimes when I collect him; all the children sat together and captivated by storytime or the prop box. He also loves the food that a lady cooks and often has double helpings.

I'd highly recommend this nursery after placing both my children here. My son started in the baby room and transitioned through the nursery confidently right through to when he left for his next adventure at big school. The Pre-School team are brilliant at preparing the children for school and have
dedicated learning programmes to support this. My daughter also started in the baby room and is now a very confident 2.5-year-old. She surprises me on a daily basis by just how much she's learning and developing at nursery. The staff have been fantastic in supporting with potty training too! All the staff are so lovely and welcoming and genuinely care for the children as if they were their own. Beautiful nursery, great staff, happy children - what more could I ask for.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Ellen has been part of the Luton Road family since 2016 but began their journey in Early Years in 2011. Over the past eight years, they have learned new skills that have supported their journey into becoming Nursery Manager. They have an excellent knowledge of SEND and work closely with local authorities to ensure all children’s needs are met.


Ellen has a passion for high-quality learning and education at the nursery, ensuring children can achieve their full potential while attending Luton Road. In addition to supporting the children’s development, it is important to them to ensure staff are always developing themselves and gaining new skills and experiences.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Rose has worked at Bright Horizons Harpenden Luton Road since 2017, progressing both personally and professionally. Starting as a Nursery Nurse, she has advanced to Room Leader, Third in Charge, and now Deputy Manager.


Rose is passionate about providing the best experiences and opportunities for children while developing strong relationships with families. She is committed to creating a nurturing environment where children can build the confidence and independence essential for their future school years.
