This nursery is exceptional and received an 'outstanding' Ofsted accreditation in May 2018.

Situated at Whitley Lodge in the grounds of Whitley Lodge First School the purpose-built stand-alone nursery is well resourced and offers outstanding quality care for babies and children aged one year to four years in Whitley Bay.

Open plan rooms with a well-organised layout provide the children with free access to a wide and stimulating range of activities, whilst keeping the company ethos of creating a home from home environment.

The nursery also offers a breakfast club, after school and wrap around care with the school together with a holiday club for all.

The nursery is proud to have the prestigious Millies's Mark accreditation awarded in 2018, having this award demonstrates the nursery's commitment to going above and beyond the minimum requirements for keeping children safe.

All staff working directly with children not only hold a paediatric first aid certificate but are also competent in how to apply this in practice.

Our kids started 2 months ago and settled in straight in, the activities are fantastic and they seem to really be developing our kids. The staff are great and have made the transfer over really easy. The food is really healthy and has made them more adventurous eaters.

We're absolutely delighted that our little girl and boy are both attending Zone4kids at Whitley Lodge.
From the moment we arrive in the morning, we are given a warm welcome. Our older daughter comes home telling us of the wonderful activities during the day. At collection time, we are given an informative
summary and we are given online reports of children's progress.
As parents, we are so thankful to the carers in the setting who keep our children safe, engaged with learning and laughing.

Zone4kids is a brilliant nursery. The staff are so friendly and helpful. We visited a few nurseries before Zone4kids and they just didn't feel quite right, as soon as we walked into Zone4kids we knew this was the one. My son has come on leaps and bounds and I have the keyworkers to thank for that. They
listen to any concerns and keep you updated. The manager always goes above and beyond to help if you need any extra/last-minute care of needed. I'm due my next baby this spring and wouldn't put him anywhere other than Zone4kids.

Jayne Turnbull

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2003

Jayne has been the Manager of Zone4Kids for over 20 years and brings more than 35 years of experience in childcare. Her career includes working as a nanny for local families, roles within a first school, and running a breakfast and after-school club.


Jayne completed her Early Years degree in 2010 while working at Zone4Kids. She has proudly supported and developed the staff team, helping to achieve two Ofsted Outstanding judgements in 2018 and again in 2024. Jayne strongly values the importance of promoting the very best opportunities and experiences, ensuring children at Zone4Kids receive the strongest possible start in their early years education.


In her spare time, Jayne enjoys going to the gym, walking her dog, travelling, and spending time with family and friends.
