Co-op Childcare Newburn Nursery is a purpose-built nursery that has been designed to a high standard taking the needs of the children into account. There are three main rooms within the nursery split into the following age groups: six weeks to 18 months, 18 months - two-years-old and two to five-year-olds.

They are big on safety which is why ALL their staff are paediatric first aid trained. They have 5 Little Pioneers who help share their core values to children from encouraging them to be independent to expressing their feelings.

They are big on happy children and they have areas for growing food (and eating it), regular visits to local care homes and a focus on taking care of each other and the world. They hold the Green Flag Status Award, an internationally recognised award in a programme that sees children lead the world in making little changes that deliver big environmental differences.

They have a ParentZone app which keeps parents/carers informed about life at nursery from photos of their day, assessments, meals eaten and even toilet training progress!

Co-op Childcare Newburn have a sensory room which is a beautiful indoor garden that includes forest music and sensory materials that your child can use as tools for imaginative play.

We're so happy with our experience with the nursery. The staff are so friendly and completely put our minds at ease when leaving our son there for the first time. You can tell he really loves it here.

Great nursery, my son throughly enjoys going. All the staff are so friendly and always there if you've got any concerns.
My son has came on loads since attending the nursery, he always come my home singing different nursery rhymes and songs he's learnt at the nursery. He also loves playing outside
in the sandpit.

My son attended nursery at Co-operative Newburn for 4 years he had an amazing time made wonderful friends the staff are very efficient caring and compassionate but most of all friendly you can ask them anything I felt so comfortable and confident leaving my son in their care while I was at work it was
an extremely sad day when he graduated and left nursery for school but I know he had the very best start in his early years and I couldn't thank the staff enough how much they encouraged him I will always be thankful we choose this nursery he made friends for life and had the best start.

In 2011 we came across this nursery and pleased we did!
Since then all 3 of our children have attended, 2 of them are now at school leaving our 19 months old there now.
We travel about 20 mins in the car to get to the nursery and we do this because it's worth the journey.
All the staff greet you
with a happy smiling face, they listen to you when you tell them what your child's needs are and that in itself gives me piece of mind it's home from home, all my children loved and love going, even my 2 older children love going to pick up their little brother to say hi to everyone!
I can see myself how well they bring them on with their development, it's lovely seeing my 19-month-old eating like a big boy with his fork and drinking out of a big boy cup perfectly and I do believe it's the help of the nursery staff! Thank you to all of you for taking fantastic care of my 3 children over the years, it will be a sad day when oscar leaves for big school! X

Oldest daughter attended and my only regret was not coming to this nursery earlier. The staff are phenomenal and the key workers my daughter had made her experience much more satisfying than I anticipated.
This nursery has a greater interest than just numbers through the door. They take time and patience
by supporting both children and parents to help build the tools needed to move on to be strong, self-aware, motivated and school-ready.
Each member of staff shows their commitment towards the children and although safety first is a given, the fun and education they provide are second to none.
As soon as I'm ready to start back at work, my baby daughter will be attending without a blink of an eye and my eldest will be attending summer sessions whilst on holiday from school.

We visited several nurseries before deciding on this one for our son. He started when he was just eight months old, and despite only coming twice per week he is always really keen to go. The staff are all friendly and genuine about their enthusiasm in the children's well being. They are taught table
manners and social skills which will no doubt prepare them well for school.

My little girl has been going to The Co-operative Childcare Newburn Nursery for nearly two years, she has come on leaps and bounds. She has learnt so much from the girls at the nursery, made some lovely friends, and has built up so much confidence.
All the staff are so friendly and happy there, the
feedback they give us at the end of every nursery session is excellent, from what they've had to eat, their toilet trips, things they have learnt new that day, and just general information. I have 100% trust in all the staff when I leave my little girl there, I know she is well looked after each time she is in.
My little girl always gets plenty of time in the fresh air so they aren't stuck indoors every day, no matter what the weather is they will be wrapped up and playing in the gardens.
We attended my daughter's parents evening and had a look through all the lovely activities she joined in with. We were shown the pictures she had painted, photographs of her, everything you would like to see.

My niece attends this nursery, my daughter did previously. I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough. The staff are well trained and very caring, they are always there if you needed anything. We really enjoyed attending the Christmas nativity it showed how well all the children are settled there.

I would rate this nursery as excellent. My daughter has excelled in all areas of learning. She is very social and I believe this is due to the daily interaction at the nursery. She has come on leaps and bounds and is clever beyond her years.

My little one has been at the for 3 years now and he has progressed perfectly. The staff plan lots of stimulating activities which help his continued progression. The nursery is very welcoming and has a lovely atmosphere from when you first walk in the door. Space, resources and equipment are great
and rooms are set up to children's current interests. My little one loves being outside and free flow routine works great to suit his interests. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursery and will be very sad when he has to leave for school.

I believe Newburn Nursery have a one to one relationship with the children. The members of staff are friendly which makes the atmosphere conducive for children to learn. Since my son started attending I have seen him grow in confidence, his words are coming on, sings songs and very interactive, social
and friendly with other children.

Staff are always willing to go the extra mile for the children and parents alike they always have the time to talk over anything that needs discussing. The surroundings are surprisingly perfect given the geographic location of the nursery but it's charming quaint and welcoming and it's a multi-sensory
environment always something new to look at. The children are encouraged to play and engage with a variety of things inside and out which I feel is vital for healthy development and the staff have been nothing short of perfect when dealing with my little one as he suffers terrible separation anxiety. I have never left him feeling worried or concerned because I know that he is in safe hands and is offered as many if not more cuddles to compensate me leaving!! Diets of all kinds are well catered for - could not find one fault with this nursery. Great staff great place.

We love this nursery and our son has really come on especially since moving up to preschool. The structure of the day is good and the activities he does is varied and fun. The preschool staff are great and have lots of ideas for keeping the children engaged and interested. The outdoor space is brilliant
and it's great they have so much access to it. The only improvement is sometimes the book exchange, homework and wow vouchers get forgotten about and don't get updated but it's only a small thing.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.946 for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Newburn is calculated as follows: ( (193 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 204 Ratings = 4.946
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.712 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Pioneers Nursery & Pre-School, Newburn is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 108 number of registered child places is 21.6. 17 Positive Reviews ÷ 21.6 = 0.787
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
