Seven years ago when I was on maternity leave with my first child, I looked around between 10-15 nurseries in the local area. This was the best by far. My third and final baby is still attending preschool here. It's fantastic! Everything from the staff, excellent home cooked meals, love, care, curriculum
and activities and good parent/nursery communication. Highly recommended, would do it all again!

My daughter attended Bright Horizons Millhouses for 3 years and loved every minute of it and my son (2.5 years old) has been there since he was 10 months old. The staff are very attentive, making him welcome when he arrives and giving me a rundown of the day (activities, food, sleeps, nappy changes)
when I pick him up. There are always a range of activities (tomorrow is an outer space theme, which was being set up in advance when I arrived at the end of the day today) and the outdoor play area is well used. The variety of food served puts my cooking to shame; my son can be particular with his tastes at home but he is happy to try everything at nursery. There is also a clear plan for the development of each child, with occasional parents evenings which highlight the attention each child gets.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the nursery to another parent!

We moved to Bright Horizons Millhouses Day Nursery recently and have been overwhelmed by the care and attention the staff have paid to my son and our families needs.

While he struggled with the transition at first, he now loves nursery. He settled after his key worker came in early to receive him

into nursery and he has not looked back since.

They have recognised him as an individual, with his own interests and personality. Getting to know him they helped him explore other creative areas which have helped to widen his play skills.

He comes home dirty and tired as a child should from enjoying their day of creative exploration. He is excited to go to nursery and regularly talks about his key worker.

I love that there are different activities set up waiting for the children in the morning. The staff are always welcoming and professional.

Thank you

Our grandchild has been so happy at nursery, learning valuable life skills etc on the way. The staff are excellent. When deciding on the nursery to send her, Bright Horizons was head and shoulders above the rest.

This nursery continues to exceed my expectations. We are about to enter pre-school, the last phase of our journey. I feel like I know most of the staff now & feel like they are part of my family. I already feel sad about the prospect of leaving nursery and sad that a lot of my child's friends are already
leaving. I can't praise the staff enough for their hard work and dedication in what I know is a tough job. Keep up the good work!

I currently have 2 children attending the nursery (my eldest son left the nursery for school a few years ago). My second eldest will be leaving to start school in September. I have found in both cases the support the Millhouses preschool staff have provided to get the children ready for school has been
excellent. Whilst they have been helping the children with writing and numbers they also help the children work on the personal skills they will need, (for example getting themselves changed for PE) and they talk to parents to ensure all are on the same page in terms of support needed. And the graduation ceremony is absolutely lovely!

Meanwhile we have been settling my youngest son into the baby room. The Millhouses staff recognise that leaving your baby for the first time (even number 3 baby) is difficult and they provide lots of support for both baby and parents to make the transition to nursery as easy as possible. I definitely recommend Bright Horizons Millhouses!

In a nursery I needed to be confident she was happy, safe & cared for when I left. Her development physically, emotionally and socially has been amazing. She is able to take part in activities that she wouldn't necessarily do at home. My little girl talks about the key workers to me and this makes me
beyond happy. It shows me that she is happy and she is cared for and loved while she is there. She is making friends and learning to be around her peers. They complete a book for each child with comments and pictures that parents get to keep once they move rooms. She is in the toddler room she absolutely loves it adores every single key worker. She talks about them and refers to them as her "friends" which tells me she is happy around the children there too. The foyer is inviting, the classical music and fish. The morning cleaner always says hello and sometimes gets the fish food so my little girl can feed the fish. The chef makes the amazing food.

I thoroughly recommend this nursery. My son and daughter both attend 3 days/mornings a week and both have grown so much in confidence during their time here. Their carers really know their stuff and have developed wonderfully caring and strong bonds with both my children. The facilities are very good
too, especially the brilliant food, and my daughter, in particular, has made lots of good friends and loves all the activities they do. Fantastic.

This is a great nursery and preschool. The staff continually work to ensure my son receives the best day care and genuinely care about all the children. They have helped him to develop confidence and make sure that he is happy and feels secure in his environment every day. He now has a number of friends
in preschool and his learning development is enriched by the three days a week he spends at the nursery. I would recommend to friends and family.

My son has attended this nursery from age 21 months. He is currently in pre-school and thoroughly enjoys nursery. We have noticed huge improvements in his confidence and social skills which has been wonderful to see. They have been fantastic not only have they supported our son, they have also been
very supportive and caring with both myself and my partner while we went through fertility treatment. During this time they were always keeping a look out for my son and also taking the time to ask how we were as parents. In my view, this was above and beyond their remit, and that is why this nursery is outstanding! When my son isn't in the nursery he asks if he can go- a lovely indication of how happy he is there.

My youngest is in Babies 2 here and my eldest left last year. The facilities are good but what makes it wonderful is the staff. Many of them have been here throughout this time and their care and knowledge are excellent. They are quick to develop good relationships with the children and parents and
you are made to feel welcome and valued. The Early Years Foundation Framework is explicit and well integrated into each room with a range of creative and interesting activities. The only issue I have is getting my two children out the door at the end of the day!

My daughter has been attending Babies 1 here for several months now. The staff are friendly and pleased to see you and your child. They always offer a smile and engage with you about your child, consistently, everyday. They really make the effort, and it is appreciated. Especially when you are new
to whole parenting and baby in nursery experience. The room is safe and clean, the food is freshly prepared, and there is lots for the babies to do. The staff do lots of activities to engage them, such as singing along sessions. There isn't much else to say as I genuinely have no concerns about the care my child receives and every confidence in the people I leave her with.

A fantastic nursery where both my children have been extremely happy. I have always found that my children return home having progressed - every week. They come on leaps and bounds thanks to the attentive and personalised support they receive from their key person. The nursery is smart, well-organised
and extremely well managed. Staff are polite, helpful and know the children inside out. We have been thrilled with the nursery and would highly recommend them.

Our daughter is in Babies 1 at Bright Horizons Millhouses Day Nursery. She absolutely loves it. The team have made the transition very smooth for her and she has clearly formed a bond with all of the staff there. The teams' enthusiasm and energy when we drop her off and pick her up is just incredible.
We really appreciate everything they do.

Our child started at this nursery at 7 months old. We were impressed from the start by the helpful and very able staff. We were contacted by telephone by our key worker and our inevitable concerns were allayed. The staff have continued to be a delight. They are committed to each of the children in their
care and have a real passion for their work. I have found this to be so encouraging and I can have real confidence that our child is safe and well cared for in their hands. The Baby Room has an excellent team ethos. If the key worker is not available another member of staff has a real knowledge as to how the day has gone. Having the flexibility of being able to drop off / collect at any time during opening provides a real support for unexpected work requirements. The variety of food is excellent and knowing that everything is included in the price is a relief in the morning rush. Don't hesitate to book your baby in at this nursery.

I couldn't have been happier leaving my precious first baby in the care and hands of the staff in the baby room. They made the settling in period so positive for me and my little girl! No matter how many times I called to check on her ALL staff were so friendly, reassuring and helpful and made leaving
her so much easier. Every mother worries about leaving her baby in the care of new people but I really can't thank the staff enough for all their individual care and personal understanding of my babies needs ... I really believe they take the time and effort to understand each babies personality and have offered guidance and support with issues I have raised with feeding etc at home! What more could you ask for! I look forward to watching my daughter grow and learn new skills in this supportive caring environment. Thanks so much Millhouses staff x

Our daughter has attended the nursery since March this year. I have always felt that we are leaving our daughter with friends. She cuddles the staff on arrival and sometimes when leaving. There are always two staff members present but I have seen four and five when it is not lunch hour. They take the
time to tell you what your child has done, and provide written information.

The activities are planned and varied. Although our daughter has two key workers, all the staff know each child and are happy to discuss them with you. The staff are a friendly smiley bunch and the kids seem to really enjoy being with them. The only negative side is not the staff, but the billing. We lose out because our daughter attends on Mondays, and most bank holidays fall on Mondays, but the nursery is closed, but you still have to pay for this.

Having said that I would still recommend this nursery to anyone.

Bright Horizons Millhouses is an excellent nursery and pre-school. We have a 13-month boy in Babies and a 4.5-year-old girl about to leave for school. The team at Millhouses have helped nurture our daughter from 10 months and their contribution to the sociable, confident, polite, intelligent girl she
is can't be overstated.

I've never known the manager and her team to be anything other than enthusiastic, helpful and friendly and from day 1 I had no problem with leaving my daughter (and now my son) with them. Facilities are excellent, food great and the activities are always interesting and extremely well planned and executed. The staff put extra time in to add to the kid's experience which shows just how much they care.

I am looking forward to going through the journey through the rooms at Millhouses Day Nursery and Preschool with my son - and fully confident that he'll enjoy every minute.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.721)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.721) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Millhouses Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.764 for Bright Horizons Millhouses Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.764
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.957 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Millhouses Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 number of registered child places is 16.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.8 = 0.357
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
