The Team at Bright Horizons, Millhouses, have been brilliant for our eldest daughter (now at school) and our 3-year-old son, and we have no hesitation sending our newborn daughter (7 months old) to them in the New Year. All of the staff members have shown great care and attention to our children and
helped build their confidence as well as helping with early-stage learning, and the way they have coped with the lock-down and the extra issues they have to deal with daily has been nothing short of fantastic. Our son is always happy to go to nursery (as was his sister) and we know from other parents who speak glowingly about the nursery that they provide a happy and stable and loving environment and that is all we can ask of them. Many thanks, keep up the good work.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough, all the staff are absolutely fantastic, friendly and extremely helpful. They have gone above and beyond throughout this very difficult time to ensure child/staff safety and parents too! The choice of food is second to none and they are very mindful of any allergies/special
dietary requirements. My son loves his time here and the staff have been amazing with him and continue to be. My only negative is the day my son will finally have to bid farewell once he starts school next year.

My daughter started here at 13 months and she has thrived! The baby room was so supportive and wonderful and she had a smooth transition to toddlers and is so happy there - she loves the staff who are really approachable and always so friendly. She adores all the messy play and painting and comes out
with so many songs and new words - I know she learns so much there!

Our son loves going to this nursery. It is one of his favourite things during the week and it has helped him develop and grow and his communication skills have certainly benefitted from attending here. We would highly recommend this nursery as the staff are friendly, full of energy and always very enthusiastic
about our son's development. The management are also second to none, with constant and effective communication between the nursery and ourselves, especially during particularly challenging times, such as with coronavirus. We couldn't recommend them enough!

This setting has always been top-notch but Covid has really shown how on it the staff are here. They've thought of every little detail to help our two settle back in after the first lockdown. We never have a single concern leaving them in their care each day. And the variety of things the kids get up
to is amazing. Our preschooler is showing an independence and readying for school which is thanks to his key worker and staff in that room. And our little one in baby room has nothing but fun and cuddles as she needs it. My only slightly negative comment is the setting, which can't be helped by the nursery. It is right near a well-known fast-food outlet which can mean large queues and I do wonder about local pollution for the children.

We have used this nursery for four years with two children and have always been happy with the level of care provided.
Staff are friendly, approachable and show a genuine level of interest in the children under their care.
Communication is good – daily notes are provided at pick up time and queries
are responded to efficiently.
Home visits are scheduled for new starters which is a very nice touch and allows children to get to know the staff in their home environment.
Activities are varied and interesting – seasonal occasions are celebrated too.

Leadership is excellent, always prompt to respond and deal with any concerns, however minor. Staff show genuine interest in the children, take time to get to know them and communicate daily with parents/carers. Activities are varied, change daily and provide opportunities for both structured and unstructured
play. My child loves the variety and is always eager to talk about what he's been doing. The use of a key and co keyworker means there is always someone who knows my child extremely well, although he has a good relationship with them all and clearly feels safe and cared for.

My son currently attends this nursery in the pre-school room. All the staff are so welcoming and give excellent feedback at the end of the day. My son's work gets put up on display often and he has growing programs get sent home to help his development.

We have had such brilliant support with our 12-month baby starting in babies. We have had "settles" with her key person and they are always so good letting me know how she's getting on during the day, especially in the mornings when the drop off has been tough.
I really like that they have an on-site
chef who cooks brilliant food every day.

My 3 yr old daughter has recently moved into the pre-school room having attended the nursery since she was 8 months old. Whilst it is scary for us to see her growing up so quickly I can honestly say that it is an absolute joy to see her developing so many different skills and being encouraged so positively
to do this. Whilst the routine is different in the pre-school room to what we have been used to in the baby and toddler rooms the transition was absolutely seamless and she had settled in within a matter of days. The staff in the rooms are wonderful and always take the time at the beginning and end of the day to ensure that a full handover is given which we are very grateful for. Our daughter has an additional care plan in place for a health condition and this has been adopted without question or issue. We would not hesitate to recommend this nursery, the staff, facilities and resources are absolutely outstanding and we are so grateful that we were able to send our daughter there.

We decided to take our little boy to Bright Horizons Millhouses on the back of my niece attending the nursery for a few years. Because of the feedback I had already received from my brother, we were expecting good things but they have managed to exceed our expectations.
Our boy started nursery at
only 6 months old and it is good to see how the staff have helped him develop. All of the nursery team are brilliant and genuinely look forward to seeing our boy every time he is in. And when we pick him up he is always happy and smiling having had a great day playing and learning. The food provided is also of a high standard with a focus on healthy and tasty food for the children.
I do not have a bad word to say about the nursery and staff and would highly recommend Bright Horizons to anyone looking for a nursery in the local area.

We are very pleased with the care our child gets. The staff are friendly and engaged and seem to genuinely care about the individual needs of the children in their care.

The food is prepared and cooked on site by a chef who produces excellent quality, varied dishes.

The nursery is also very well

equipped.

Our little boy loves going to nursery and he always has a great time there. The staff are welcoming and friendly. They always ask how we're doing as we've been through a tough time recently. They're always looking for ways for our child to grow and develop and that's been evident when we see the development
changes at home. The nursery was recommended to us and we would recommend it to others. Thank you for everything you do.

Our daughter has attended from 9 months to pre-school and has become a happy, healthy, confident little girl and we've no doubt that much of that is due to her 3 days a week at Bright Horizons. She has a close relationship with the staff in her room. Although she does struggle a little when drop off
is not in her normal room the staff help her to adjust quickly and she's soon off playing and having fun - I'm happy that this is also part of her learning experience. Each transition to the next class level has been great for our daughter, having a specific key worker that can give her the extra support in a new environment works well for her timidness. I think more is needed to introduce the parents to the new rooms and how they work. Our daughter has gained some close friends during her time and these relationships have been supported by the staff throughout. The outside play area is great and I love to see her running around at pick-up. She eats well from a varied menu.

Our son has been at this nursery for over 2 and a half year and is now in preschool. The nursery continues to excel at what they do. The staff are fantastic and go above and beyond to support our child, and us as parents. We couldn't have wished for a better nursery and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending
them. When we drop our son off at nursery in the mornings, it feels like we are leaving him with extended family. We are now gearing up for getting him ready for school later in the year and I know we will have fantastic support with this.

All staff are really welcoming and make an effort to get to know you and your child. They have made extra effort with my son who has some difficulties with his speech giving him the support and help he needs, meaning he loves nursery and can not wait to come and play with his friends and all the amazing
activities.

My daughter attends the preschool at Millhouses, she loves going to nursery, has made new friends and brings new exciting things for us to do together at home often. She is always happy on arrival and doesn’t stop telling me about all the fun she’s had all day on the way home. The preschool rooms are
set out lovely and all the staff are welcoming and extremely knowledgeable! She has healthy meals throughout the day which meet her nutritional needs to help her grow and develop!

Lovely building-light, bright, spacious rooms. Always clean, tidy and fresh smelling.
Food looks great-my daughter has two portions of most meals.
Fun, exciting and educational activities every day and good quality resources.
Staff are wonderful-very knowledgeable, kind, caring and friendly! Communication
between staff and parents is excellent.
Nursery manager, however, has an unfortunate manner but this would be my only criticism.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.721)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.721) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Millhouses Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.764 for Bright Horizons Millhouses Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (15 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.764
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.957 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Millhouses Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 84 number of registered child places is 16.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 16.8 = 0.357
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
