The Garden House is a long established nursery in a lovely setting in Fulwood. Staff are well qualified and experienced with many graduates and high ratios. All are qualified first aiders and naturally DBS/health checked.

A homely atmosphere fosters children's confidence and good school links ensure smooth transitions. Children make outstanding progress with a fun and educational curriculum including many interesting and unusual activities such as unique infant sports coaching, language/music groups, Mini Movez classes, Zoolab and Woodland Adventures.

With imaginative outside areas children are helped to make sense of the world around them. Parents benefit from free settling-in sessions, emailed daily reports alongside 'stay and play' weeks.

Enhanced staff training enables The Garden House Nursery to welcome all.

I can’t recommend The Garden Nursery highly enough. The manager and her team are well organised, happy and professional teams of caring, nurturing professionals. Our daughter has flourished at the Garden House. She’s made some great friends, gained confidence and learnt so much. She’s also now got a
love of tennis, which I’m sure will continue on into adulthood.
Reply from Stacey, Deputy Nursery Manager at The Garden House NurserySo lovely to read that your little one has flourished with us and now has a keen love for Tennis!

Absolutely fantastic nursery. My two-year-old son has come on leaps and bounds since attending The Garden House Nursery. He is so well cared for and loved. His days there are packed full of fun activities and I have the highest of confidence in the care provided by the fab staff there. They go above
and beyond. Thank you.
Reply from Stacey, Nursery deputy manager at The Garden House NurserySuch kind words! Thank you so much for taking the time to review our nursery. It is so nice to hear the staff go above and beyond - thank you.

All three of my children have attended The Garden House nursery, with my youngest being in Piglets now. They have all loved every day at nursery, they all run in through the door in the morning and can’t wait for their days. I can’t fault the staff, they care so well for the children and listen to any
requests you have such as sleep limits. My older two children who have left still want to come and see their old teachers at nursery! There is a wide range of activities for them to do, and they have external companies to enhance the learning and experiences. I would 100% recommend this nursery to anyone.
Reply from Kirsty Cook, Nursery Manager at The Garden House NurseryThank you so much for such kind words - the staff really love their jobs, and it's a total pleasure!

I cannot recommend the Garden House Nursery highly enough. My little boy has been here since the age of 1 and has come on brilliantly in the past 1.5 years thanks to the amazing and caring staff. They provide a range of activities to encourage and stimulate little minds in a safe, comfortable, and motivating
environment.

My daughter who is 2 has attended since she turned 1. The staff are all so lovely and she runs in everyday without looking back. She has always enjoyed herself and is clearly learning lots of things, doing loads of really varied activities and making many friends. I don’t worry about her at all when
I leave her as I know she is so loved and cared for.

We currently have two children at the Garden House Nursery - one in his final term before school and one in her first term at nursery. We have always been pleased with the care our children have received and the staff genuinely seem to care about the children they look after. Our son has thrived in
the 3 years he has been there. He currently loves the ‘big boy class’ and we have been impressed with the excellent preparation for school. The nursery gave him valuable stability during the chaos of Covid times and we were grateful that he could continue attending. Our daughter has only been at nursery for a few months but she has settled in well and has formed a good bond with some of the staff. We have particularly valued the app used for the daily report with personalised updates and photographs from the day. Overall we would recommend the nursery to others. The downside is that it is relatively expensive compared to others, and food and nappies are not included in the price.

Wholeheartedly recommend The Garden House Nursery. We moved here in between the 2020 lockdowns, and the staff were brilliant in instantly reassuring us that our daughter was in great hands and in helping us all settle in quickly and easily. She loved her old nursery, so was sad to leave it, but within
a couple of weeks, she was not only happy to go to The Garden House Nursery but came out bouncing each day, full of news of friends and everything she'd learnt. Their playful teaching is exceptional, she's confident with numbers, letters and is starting to read and write too. Most recently, the kids have all been so excited to look after some ducklings, and our daughter is now looking forward to learning how to play tennis! It's been an absolute rock of normality for her during this last crazy year, and we can't thank everyone enough for all their efforts to keep things not only safe but an incredibly fun and happy place for all the children.

Our little boy has been attending The Garden House Nursery since June 2020, we were lucky enough to have looked around the nursery before the Covid-19 restrictions came into play and we were very impressed with just how much time and effort goes into the children's development and I thought it had a
lovely ‘homely’ feel! All the staff were very supportive when our son started his settling in days and went above and beyond to make him feel settled as we were not permitted to come in, given the guidance. All the staff in his room were happy to speak to us and give updates of how he was doing and this continues even now! We always get a full report when we collect him on how he’s been and the things that he’s been doing. Our little boy can also be a bit fussy with food and it’s never any trouble for the staff to offer him something else if he doesn’t like something.
Reply from Stacey Mitchelson, Acting manager at The Garden House NurseryI am so glad that the ladies have helped your little boy to settle in well. Thank you for your kind words said about our nursery and staff.

Through moving around, we have used 3 different nurseries, all of them good but Garden House stands head and shoulders above the rest. The staff are utterly brilliant and always smiling. They work so hard to create a happy and interesting place for the kids to be - there is always something new to do
and learn about. Our eldest has just started at primary school and the time she spent in Tiggers/Christopher Robins has given her such a solid foundation she is flying now. Our youngest has just started in Tiggers and loves getting his bag ready to go and see his teachers and to have fun playing at nursery. It is also worth saying that they were fantastic during all the testing times with covid - they have been quick to disseminate information and act on government advice - it has remained a safe and reassuring place throughout. Well done.

Our two children are in Piglets and Tiggers/Christopher Robins and thoroughly enjoy their days at nursery. They have both been to several nurseries in the UK due to job moves and they really have loved The Garden House. The staff are extremely supportive, friendly and professional and we receive excellent
daily feedback. Our eldest has particularly enjoyed the Jolly Phonics in Christopher Robins. I would really recommend this nursery to others! Thanks for all your help.

Placing our child at this nursery has undoubtedly been the best decision my husband and I have made for her. She has been attending from 3 months of age and her progress has been absolutely remarkable. She is already very sociable, she has developed communication skills and generally loves being around
her new friends. The nursery nurses are always so welcoming, every single one of them, and every single time I see them (whether it is first thing in the morning at 7:45am or 6pm). The care, friendship and attention our daughter receives here is outstanding. There is always clear communication of how she got on with her day through daily reports which we then use to update on an app we use. When we bring her in we leave feeling very safe in the knowledge that she will be very well looked after. The smile on her little face when she sees all her friends (staff and classmates) says it all. I would highly recommend this nursery, they simply go above and beyond to accommodate our needs.

We are extremely pleased with The Garden House Nursery. Our son has always enjoyed going here and we recommend this nursery to everyone with children. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to get to know each individual child in the nursery. The children frequently do new activities and
have themed weeks. I am really grateful for the love and attention each member of the team pays in looking after my son and have never had any concerns about leaving him in nursery.

Overall a fantastic nursery. We feel very fortunate to have this on our doorstep and couldn't be happier with the care they provide. Our daughter's development is coming on leaps and bounds which we know has lots to do with the variety of activities Garden House provides. This is, without doubt, a 5-star
nursery, but if we could change one thing it would be that they had the option of providing meals. Then it would be perfect!

My 2-year-old son has been at Garden House for two months and it's a fantastic nursery! He skips into the building with zero apprehension and I leave feeling 100% happy and comfortable. The staff are calm, warm, organised and very caring. Every time I walk into the room, the kids are having lots of
fun, but it never feels chaotic or out-of-control. The nursery is literally a peaceful place, which really suits my son. I have seen him develop suddenly in many obvious ways: he uses his fork and spoon more effectively, negotiates the stairs better, gets a kick out of tidying up (yes, really!), is suddenly interested in drawing, knows lots of action songs and has suddenly got better at puzzles. The staff are really nurturing him on lots of levels. You have to provide your own packed lunch, but I personally like this. It's not much work and I know that he is getting nutritious food which he will enjoy. He always has a good nap at the nursery and comes home very happy! What's not to love?!

We are really pleased with The Garden House Nursery. We have 2 children there in different classes and they both love it. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We love the activities the kids get to do such as Spanish club, outside activities coming into nursery and Christophers Robbins
getting the children prepared for starting school. Our children are both learning new things at nursery and having fun. We haven't had any problems and any requests we have made have been met. We would highly recommend The Garden House Nursery.

My grandchild has been attending the Garden House Nursery for 4 years now and he has loved every day since starting. I collect him and drop him off daily as my daughter works long hours, therefore I see that he is happy, well loved and cared for by the friendly and enthusiastic staff. My daughter is
expecting her second child who will be attending the nursery also.

We have recommended this nursery to a lot of our family and friends who also attend the setting and are just as happy with the care the children are given here. It is also a well run and very clean environment, my grandson particularly enjoys all the added activities such as zoo lab where he has experienced all different animals and mini moves which he really enjoys and the tennis lessons which is one of my grandson's favourites.

Our daughter started in Pooh's and Roo's at The Garden House Nursery when she was eight months old. Now she is nearly four and very proud to be in Christopher Robins and one of the big girls at the nursery. In that time the staff at The Garden House Nursery have helped her progress from being a shy,
quiet child into an outgoing little girl who can't wait to get to the nursery and see her friends and teachers.

The staff provide a safe, happy environment where children thrive. They always have time to give a cuddle or offer comfort if our daughter is feeling a little unsure. I would recommend The Garden House Nursery to anyone looking for fantastic childcare. Thank you for taking care of my precious little girl so well.

They continue to offer amazing care to all the children! I thought that my children would have been a little sad to return to nursery after seeing so much of us over the Christmas break - they didn't look back. The Garden House is consistently welcoming and friendly. All the children seem settled and
staff are always willing to help.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the nursery - we love it!

Before deciding on The Garden House Nursery we visited a number of nurseries in the area, most with "Outstanding" Ofsted ratings, but Garden House was a cut above the rest.

What makes it so good? The nursery is owned and managed by the owner since the nursery opened, some 20 odd years ago. She is

there every day and it is obvious that she cares deeply for the children in her care. The staff all appear to genuinely want to be there. They are so engaged with the children and both staff and children always seem to have so much fun. It is a professional yet caring environment, which our daughter absolutely loves.

What I found when choosing a nursery is that it comes down to the "feel" of the place. The Garden House feels like a home from home. The rooms are cosy, clean and colourful. The outside areas include a play ground, growing garden and a woodland walk which is perfect for learning about nature and critter spotting.

I would not hesitate to recommend The Garden House to any prospective parents.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.758)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.758) out of 10 for The Garden House Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 18 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.808 for The Garden House Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (177 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 213 Ratings = 4.808
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.95 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Garden House Nursery is based on 18 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.95
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 72 number of registered child places is 14.4, which has been reached with 18 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
