The Garden House is a long established nursery in a lovely setting in Fulwood. Staff are well qualified and experienced with many graduates and high ratios. All are qualified first aiders and naturally DBS/health checked.

A homely atmosphere fosters children's confidence and good school links ensure smooth transitions. Children make outstanding progress with a fun and educational curriculum including many interesting and unusual activities such as unique infant sports coaching, language/music groups, Mini Movez classes, Zoolab and Woodland Adventures.

With imaginative outside areas children are helped to make sense of the world around them. Parents benefit from free settling-in sessions, emailed daily reports alongside 'stay and play' weeks.

My eldest was at the Garden House 2012-15 and my youngest will be leaving for school next year. We have been extremely happy with this nursery and will be sad when the staff there are no longer part of our lives. Both children have always been happy there and we've always felt comfortable leaving them,
knowing that they'd be looked after properly and would have a fun day.

A lovely, caring nursery with a family atmosphere. Staff are approachable, friendly & professional. They have developed good relationships with our child and looked after him well. He's two now and still loves arriving to a cuddle every morning.


The rooms are stimulating with changing topics and

high standards of cleanliness.

This is a great nursery with excellent staff and management. It is the safest place a child can be. You can concentrate on your work while the child is there without being concerned about their health and happiness. Children settle in really well. Children are very comfortable.
They can have breakfast
at nursery if they don't have it at home. You can actually see that the staff try hard to do what they can to make sure children are looked after. If they don't do something, that means there was not any possible solution to the problem and this is very valuable.

In terms of the quality of child care this is an excellent nursery. There is a palpable feeling that the staff are personally invested in the welfare and development of the children and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services.


Because they are so good they are very popular and often quite

full, consequently - sometimes it is difficult to change sessions, but if there was a failing to have, in exchange for excellent child care - well that's fine!

We have used the Garden House Nursery on Crimicar Lane from 2010 - 2016 for both of our children.
We believe the care and dedication and attention shown to our children has been exceptional and very reassuring at all times. Both our children have loved attending the nursery and have developed a real
love of playing, inter-acting, learning and making friends. Many of their friendships from nursery have been solid and will continue with them through to school.
The staff are always professional and caring. All requests in relation to our children's individual needs/care have always been accommodated and all staff work hard to provide a brilliant environment for the children. The 'behind the scenes' management and organisation of the Nursery is always good.
The indoor and outdoor space is very welcoming and there are lots of resources for the children.
We would not hesitate to recommend the Garden House Nursery to all parents.

My little boy is 3 years old and has been at The Garden House Nursery for 2 years and 3 months. During this time here he has progressed in all areas and is now coming home able to write his name, mummy, nanny as well as writing numbers 1-10. This fills me with confidence that he is enjoying his time
here as well as learning new things each day. The staff are always welcoming and my child has great relationships with them all. Thank you to all at The Garden House Nursery.

I cannot recommend The Garden House Nursery enough. As a working Mum, it is so important to know that your child/children are safe, happy, learning and having fun. The staff at the nursery work tirelessly to ensure that this happens.
I feel very well informed of my children's progress; alongside daily
emails regarding their day in nursery, we also receive verbal information which is always lovely to hear.
Working in education, I have worked in and visited many schools/childcare establishments and I can honestly say, I have never known such a happy, hardworking team of people. The staffs enthusiasm and high spirit comes through in my own children's happiness and progress and for this, both my husband and I are hugely grateful.
The Garden House is a hugely professional establishment where safeguarding is of paramount importance.
Our children could not have a better start on their journeys as lifelong learners and we recommend the nursery unreservedly.

The Garden House Nursery School has the most friendly and welcoming environment, you couldn't ask for more. My grandchildren continue to enjoy their time there, learning and developing rapidly. The staff team are caring, having a genuine interest in all the children and how best to meet their needs.
My grandchildren are both very different and I see the enthusiasm they both have when going to nursery. I can only hope that their enthusiasm for learning continues throughout school and their future teachers take that approach that the staff at The Garden House consistently apply. Ofsted say 'Outstanding' and we (my grandchildren and I) agree.

I am extremely impressed by the attitude of staff and their willingness to care for children and take an interest in what my child has done throughout the nursery day. My child has really developed since being at The Garden House and has progressed quite rapidly since moving up to Piglets. The activities
and learning that The Garden House provides is so varied and ahead of other nurseries, tennis coaching, outdoor herb garden.

My oldest boy attended from 2012-2014 and my youngest is currently in his second year at the Garden House. It is a caring and nurturing environment and both my boys have thrived there. My wife and I both feel that our children are simply not being watched or occupied - they are being genuinely cared
for and stimulated. They staff are lovely and frequently go above and beyond - one staff member even took my wife to A&E when she injured herself on the way to nursery! The email based feedback system, which gives a detailed report on your child's day, is also a great new innovation. When our youngest finishes at the Garden House we will deeply miss both the place and the people who make it such a special nursery.

A wonderful nursery. My son has been attending since about 10 months old and is now nearly 3. The daily activities are stimulating and fun as well as being educational and my son is thriving here. He always has a smile on his face when I collect him and he enjoys telling me what he has been doing that
day. We have even had tears on the way home as he wanted to stay at nursery! I would highly recommend this nursery.

The recommendation I received when my daughter was months old was too beautifully simple for me to appreciate at the time: ‘the children are always happy’ I was told. Three years on, with my daughter weeks from starting at Infant School, I struggle to improve on that observation.
It can’t just be the
cheerful greeting that awaits morning and evening, nor the seemingly parental understanding of your child. It cannot merely be the calm control that is so evident in every room, nor the real concern when my daughter is not herself.
Perhaps I can only add to that observation. This is a nursery that has an atmosphere as close to a home as is possible: where children are encouraged to grow and develop, in a caring yet disciplined environment. It is a nursery where I am happy to leave my child; it is a nursery I trust; it is most certainly a nursery I cannot recommend enough.

My daughter who is going to be 5 in September and will be starting school absolutely loves this nursery and so do I . From the first day she started she has really come on in leaps and bounds , she never stops talking about what they do and as soon as you step through the door it has a nice welcoming
feel and atmosphere , the staff are brilliant and have took amazing care of my daughter when she has been feeling down or under the weather, I would 100% reccommend this nursery.

Christina Hoyle

Hello, my name is Christina. I am originally from Leicester but have lived in Holmfirth for over 25 years. I am married with 3 boys and a cat. I have just become a nanna to a little boy, so I am surrounded by boys!
I have been working with children for over 20 years, firstly as a nurse in A&E, as a childminder for over 9 years, as an Early Years Tutor going around nurseries in the north of the country teaching apprentices and also as a manager in 2 nurseries. I have my degree in Early Years and also my Early Years Professional Status (now known as Early Years Teacher). I am a qualified first aider and also hold my mental health first aid qualification.
I love working with children, as it is amazing to help support and see the fantastic little people they become, all with different personalities, imaginations and strengths.
I love Leicester City Football Club, spending time with my family and friends, listening to a wide range of music, Lego, collecting Piggin ornaments, going to museums and art galleries, Art Deco/Nouveau especially Charles Rennie Mackintosh, being with animals and being outside. Oh, and I am a huge Harry Potter fan as well!!
