The Garden House is a long established nursery in a lovely setting in Fulwood. Staff are well qualified and experienced with many graduates and high ratios. All are qualified first aiders and naturally DBS/health checked.

A homely atmosphere fosters children's confidence and good school links ensure smooth transitions. Children make outstanding progress with a fun and educational curriculum including many interesting and unusual activities such as unique infant sports coaching, language/music groups, Mini Movez classes, Zoolab and Woodland Adventures.

With imaginative outside areas children are helped to make sense of the world around them. Parents benefit from free settling-in sessions, emailed daily reports alongside 'stay and play' weeks.

Enhanced staff training enables The Garden House Nursery to welcome all.

We love The Garden House Nursery! All three of our sons have attended over the last 7+ years (they are currently 8, 5 and 2) and we’ve always been very happy with the care they have received. Many of the same staff have cared for all three of them over the years and it is lovely to know they are in
such a stable environment (plus I believe staff continuity speaks volumes in terms of the quality of the set-up). My two older sons made the transition to school without any trouble, and I credit The Garden House with preparing them so well. The staff are wonderful, they genuinely care about the kids and know them really well. Granted it is not the cheapest nursery available, but I believe quality childcare is worth every penny for the peace of mind it brings. Highly recommended!

Our little one has gone to Garden House since she was nine months old for four days a week. Her development at nursery has been a pleasure to see. Our child has flourished and is extremely happy there. She starts school in September and we will fondly remember her nursery days.

We are so pleased with the care at Garden House Nursery. The staff are friendly and approachable and our boys have always loved going. Throughout lockdown, they managed the logistics really well and made it easy and simple to drop off and pick up. The online system is useful as you can see how much
the kids have eaten for lunch each day. The staff are always available for a chat, if you need to talk to them and when my youngest was struggling with settling back in after the first lockdown, they were keen to work together and find ideas to help him. I couldn’t fault the care at all. They have a variety of different activities each day as well as extra tennis coaching and language classes, which are a real bonus. The preschool room really helped to get my eldest son ready for school and he moved quite seamlessly into his first year of school, with confidence. I would highly recommend it.

My daughter has been at The Garden house since she was 11 months old and she is 4 and a half now and soon to leave for school. My son started when he was almost 1 and he’s now 2 and a half and thriving in Piglets. We are so grateful to The Garden House staff for providing such consistently high-quality
individual care for both our children. The staff are what make this nursery such an exceptional place: dedicated, caring, imaginative and diligent. The care you have continued to provide, throughout the pandemic, has been superb. Thank you so much for all that you do. The fees continue to go up (and up!) and I would ask again that parents are made more aware of how and where additional investments are being made in the nursery, its resources and the staff. Fantastic nursery. Very friendly staff who have time to talk and explain what the child has been up to (but are equally happy to handover the child and let you go if you’re in a hurry). Take great care of our child, provide good updates on all elements of their day (nappies/ meals/ naps).

Our eldest loved his time at the Garden House and we found it a brilliant preparation for school. Lovely facilities and really warm, caring staff. We chose the Garden House again for our youngest, against competition from nurseries that are closer to home and a bit cheaper – think that says it all.
Recommend the Garden House, wholeheartedly.

We are extremely happy with our overall decision of sending our daughter to Garden House. From arriving at the Nursery to look around, we were welcomed by the warm and inviting staff. It was an easy decision to send our daughter there and she herself made up her mind that it was her school. We are extremely
thankful that over this last hard year with lockdowns etc, Garden House has been able to keep open through most of it and maintain a normal as can be day for her. The teachers have been amazing at keeping us up to date with our child’s development and what she has been learning, how she has been getting on and areas we need to help her with. Our daughter absolutely loves Garden House, tells us what fun things she has been up to such as gardening, playing fun games outside, tennis, learning to write her name and so many other activities. The building itself is like a home from home setting which I’m sure will have fond memories for life. We will miss Garden House and all staff.

I can’t recommend The Garden Nursery highly enough. The manager and her team are well organised, happy and professional teams of caring, nurturing professionals. Our daughter has flourished at the Garden House. She’s made some great friends, gained confidence and learnt so much. She’s also now got a
love of tennis, which I’m sure will continue on into adulthood.

All three of my children have attended The Garden House nursery, with my youngest being in Piglets now. They have all loved every day at nursery, they all run in through the door in the morning and can’t wait for their days. I can’t fault the staff, they care so well for the children and listen to any
requests you have such as sleep limits. My older two children who have left still want to come and see their old teachers at nursery! There is a wide range of activities for them to do, and they have external companies to enhance the learning and experiences. I would 100% recommend this nursery to anyone.

My daughter who is 2 has attended since she turned 1. The staff are all so lovely and she runs in everyday without looking back. We currently have two children at the Garden House Nursery - one in his final term before school and one in her first term at nursery. We have always been pleased with the care our children have received and the staff genuinely seem to care about the children they look after. Our son has thrived in
the 3 years he has been there. He currently loves the ‘big boy class’ and we have been impressed with the excellent preparation for school. The nursery gave him valuable stability during the chaos of Covid times and we were grateful that he could continue attending. Our daughter has only been at nursery for a few months but she has settled in well and has formed a good bond with some of the staff. We have particularly valued the app used for the daily report with personalised updates and photographs from the day. Overall we would recommend the nursery to others. The downside is that it is relatively expensive compared to others, and food and nappies are not included in the price.

Wholeheartedly recommend The Garden House Nursery. We moved here in between the 2020 lockdowns, and the staff were brilliant in instantly reassuring us that our daughter was in great hands and in helping us all settle in quickly and easily. She loved her old nursery, so was sad to leave it, but within
a couple of weeks, she was not only happy to go to The Garden House Nursery but came out bouncing each day, full of news of friends and everything she'd learnt. Their playful teaching is exceptional, she's confident with numbers, letters and is starting to read and write too. Most recently, the kids have all been so excited to look after some ducklings, and our daughter is now looking forward to learning how to play tennis! It's been an absolute rock of normality for her during this last crazy year, and we can't thank everyone enough for all their efforts to keep things not only safe but an incredibly fun and happy place for all the children.

Our little boy has been attending The Garden House Nursery since June 2020, we were lucky enough to have looked around the nursery before the Covid-19 restrictions came into play and we were very impressed with just how much time and effort goes into the children's development and I thought it had a
lovely ‘homely’ feel! All the staff were very supportive when our son started his settling in days and went above and beyond to make him feel settled as we were not permitted to come in, given the guidance. All the staff in his room were happy to speak to us and give updates of how he was doing and this continues even now! We always get a full report when we collect him on how he’s been and the things that he’s been doing. Our little boy can also be a bit fussy with food and it’s never any trouble for the staff to offer him something else if he doesn’t like something.

Through moving around, we have used 3 different nurseries, all of them good but Garden House stands head and shoulders above the rest. The staff are utterly brilliant and always smiling. They work so hard to create a happy and interesting place for the kids to be - there is always something new to do
and learn about. Our eldest has just started at primary school and the time she spent in Tiggers/Christopher Robins has given her such a solid foundation she is flying now. Our youngest has just started in Tiggers and loves getting his bag ready to go and see his teachers and to have fun playing at nursery. It is also worth saying that they were fantastic during all the testing times with covid - they have been quick to disseminate information and act on government advice - it has remained a safe and reassuring place throughout. Well done.

Our two children are in Piglets and Tiggers/Christopher Robins and thoroughly enjoy their days at nursery. They have both been to several nurseries in the UK due to job moves and they really have loved The Garden House. The staff are extremely supportive, friendly and professional and we receive excellent
daily feedback. Our eldest has particularly enjoyed the Jolly Phonics in Christopher Robins. I would really recommend this nursery to others! Thanks for all your help.

Placing our child at this nursery has undoubtedly been the best decision my husband and I have made for her. She has been attending from 3 months of age and her progress has been absolutely remarkable. She is already very sociable, she has developed communication skills and generally loves being around
her new friends. The nursery nurses are always so welcoming, every single one of them, and every single time I see them (whether it is first thing in the morning at 7:45am or 6pm). The care, friendship and attention our daughter receives here is outstanding. There is always clear communication of how she got on with her day through daily reports which we then use to update on an app we use. When we bring her in we leave feeling very safe in the knowledge that she will be very well looked after. The smile on her little face when she sees all her friends (staff and classmates) says it all. I would highly recommend this nursery, they simply go above and beyond to accommodate our needs.

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2025

Hello, my name is Christina. I am originally from Leicester but have lived in Holmfirth for over 25 years. I am married with 3 boys and a cat. I have just become a nanna to a little boy, so I am surrounded by boys!
I have been working with children for over 20 years, firstly as a nurse in A&E, as a childminder for over 9 years, as an Early Years Tutor going around nurseries in the north of the country teaching apprentices and also as a manager in 2 nurseries. I have my degree in Early Years and also my Early Years Professional Status (now known as Early Years Teacher). I am a qualified first aider and also hold my mental health first aid qualification.
I love working with children, as it is amazing to help support and see the fantastic little people they become, all with different personalities, imaginations and strengths.
I love Leicester City Football Club, spending time with my family and friends, listening to a wide range of music, Lego, collecting Piggin ornaments, going to museums and art galleries, Art Deco/Nouveau especially Charles Rennie Mackintosh, being with animals and being outside. Oh, and I am a huge Harry Potter fan as well!!
