The team at the nursery display a genuine interest in the children, they have taken time to build rapport with my son and get to know him, his preferences and how to work with him.
Everyone is approachable and friendly, they work with you as a parent and that has a great result in the development
and growth of the children in their care.
Personally I am very happy with the quality of care; the personal approach and focus my son receives.

I chose this nursery for my eldest daughter so had no hesitation in choosing it again for my second daughter. The nursery is clean and bright with excellent facilities and a lovely happy atmosphere. My daughter is in toddler room and she has settled so well, I know she is receiving the best care and
feel confident leaving her there while I go to work. All her learning and development needs are well catered for and she has a nutritious balanced diet. All the staff are amazing, they are approachable and really care about the children. It is a fantastic nursery.

My son started attending at this nursery following a bad experience with another nursery. I am delighted that I decided to send my son here as he absolutely loves it. I only wish I had found this nursery sooner.
My son thoroughly enjoys his sessions and loves telling me about the exciting new activities
he has been involved in.
The staff at the toddler room have been fantastic and have taken the time to get to know my child, who has subsequently formed a close bond with his key worker.
I am always kept fully updated as to what my child has been doing and eating throughout the day via the daily diary. The communication between staff to parents is excellent.
My son has progressed leaps and bounds and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this nursery to another parent.

The staff at Kirkby Day Nursery have gone out of their way consistently to welcome our daughter and us into nursery. They bought a book because I said it was important to us as a family they read it to all the children and have said how our daughters face lights up when they read it. It is little things
like this that make me certain we chose the right nursery. All the staff seem to know our little girl and talk to her and about her to us. The staff in nursery room are all lovely and our daughter really likes them. The manager is always lovely and really helpful too.

My little boy is really enjoying his nursery experience. We have noticed an increase in his personal, social and emotional development since starting, which we are very pleased about. I am very pleased with the menu choice as we feel he is having a balanced and varied selection.
The activities set
are good. I would like to see more outdoor activities planned (walks using the pram facilities, trips planned, which we are yet to see.) Also planned activities from key worker to help develop 'targets' (set by bother parents/key worker for our son), then targets to be reviewed (e.g walking - activities planned to develop this area).
We are very pleased our son is producing in his nursery time. We enjoy seeing and being able to keep something he has made that day :)

My Grandson has come on in leaps and bounds since starting Kirkby Day Nursery at the age of 9 months old. He attends Nursery 4 days a week and eats a varied nutritious diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables. He plays excellently with other other children, and is learning new skills all the time. He
has excellent communication and talks none stop, he loves the staff who look after him and we are delighted with his progress so far.

All the staff are really friendly and act professionally at all times. The nursery has good equipment and always looks clean and tidy. They do good activities with the children. I think the swimming lessons which are offered are excellent. I am currently pregnant and will definitely be putting my next

My daughter's development has greatly improved since joining the nursery. She always comes home singing new songs and chatting about her day.
I am amazed by the amount of activities they have for the children.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.397)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.397) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (96 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.397 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 number of registered child places is 13.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.4 = 0.597
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I started my journey with Bright Horizons in 2013 and I have over 17 years’ experience working with children. I qualified as a nursery nurse at the age of 17 where I gained my L2 & 3 in childcare in early years. From a nursery nurse practitioner, I developed my skill by working with amazing children, families and practitioners which supported me to become a part of the management team. Since working for Bright Horizons I have truly excelled in my practice and knowledge on how to support practitioners to become outstanding members of our team.

By the age of 32 I was given the opportunity to take on a deputy managerial role, which I am truly thankful of.
