The team at Kirkby Day Nursery are passionate about children’s development, and want to nurture your child’s love of learning, fun, creativity and exploration. Ofsted has recognised their commitment to exceptional childcare and education with the achievement of a consecutive 'Outstanding' in their latest inspection (February 2017, December 2022).

Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool was established in 2000 and is based in the David Lloyd Club in Knowsley. The nursery is designed to support your child’s development from 3 months to 5 years, and the team are dedicated to delivering the best possible childcare to local families in the community.

They pride themselves on providing a safe, exciting and enjoyable nursery where children thrive as they learn. The nursery is all on one level and has a separate entrance from the David Lloyd Building. Each of the four age-specific rooms has been lovingly crafted into an inspiring and stimulating learning environment with a variety of resources and activities available.

There is a large, recently refurbished garden, which offers lots of opportunity for digging, gardening and imaginative play. Your child will love exploring the variety of areas, such as the mud kitchen hut, the cosy reading shed, and the popular outdoor water play.

Both of my children absolutely love coming to nursery. My little girl is almost three and looks forwards to her days at nursery each week. She loves the staff, has formed very good friendships with the children, thoroughly enjoys the range of activities each week (especially all of the amazing activities
they do in toddler room linked to stories and themes) and goes in and comes home each day smiling. My little boy is almost one and only joined the nursery after Christmas. I was particularly worried about him settling because of the lockdown situation and lack of socialising since birth but he has settled very quickly and also goes in happily and has quickly formed strong bonds with the staff in the baby room. I am so very grateful for all that each of the staff at the nursery do for my children to ensure they are well cared for and happy. Nothing is ever too much trouble and the management team also do a fantastic job. I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone with young children.

Words cannot express how happy and grateful I am to my daughter's key workers and everyone else who looks after my little girl. My daughter has a dairy allergy and they ensure daily that she has separate meals and she is happy. She has recently moved up to toddler group which I was nervous about but
her new keyworker is amazing also she sends loads of pictures home of her day playing. Can’t thank you you all enough for looking after my daughter so well.

I have never actually seen my child interact with other children (only child and lockdown pretty much since I moved to Liverpool). I recently saw her enter into a room of adults and children she had never seen and strike up a conversation with the adults and started playing with the other children pretty
much immediately. I genuinely was quite shocked as to when and how she became this confident. I know that the environment that exists at Bright Horizons Kirkby is the kind of environment that promotes growth and development in children. My child was always very happy there. The staff are lovely and I made friends there. There was always happiness all around and the children seemed really happy and engaged. I would recommend this nursery very highly for anyone looking for the best care for their child.

My son attends Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery 3 days a week he really enjoys going to nursery, it has helped his development massively. Our son has been in this nursery for a year and a half now and has come on so much. He loves going and playing, and we love to hear all about his day. The girls in his room can't do enough for him and are always ready to listen to him, play with him or help him if needed. When coming back after lockdown,
we were a little worried how he would be after so long off, but the girls were amazing and put our minds at ease and our son settled back in like he had never been away. We wouldn't put him anywhere else.

I can not recommend this nursery enough. My little girl was so clingy before going to nursery and struggled with the first few weeks but the girls really helped put my mind at ease and helped her settle and feel comfortable. She now strolls in, without a care and tells me everything about her fun-filled
day.

Outstanding Nursery - Highly Recommended


Every member of staff is attentive, caring, and honest; they are constantly displayIng role model behaviour.
My first son is almost 3 and has been in the nursery since he was 1, my second son is almost 1 and has been in the nursery a few months. I would

not want them to be in any other nursery. They both love going to ‘school’ (Nursery) and are thriving because of the development focus/fun and caring environment they experience here. I will be forever thankful to all the team and manager for looking after my boys whilst I work.

I would rate this nursery as the top. My firstborn attended from when he was 8 months old until he went to primary school, he is now 8, it was one of the best nursery’s then and still is now my 3 year old attends. I would highly recommend the brilliant staff and setting in nursery.

My daughter has recently started in baby room and she loves it! The staff in her room can’t do enough to ensure our baby girl is settled and happy in the nursery as well making us as parents happy and reassured. She loves the girls already and is so comfortable with them for a cuddle! The love and attention
she gets from all of the staff is lovely.
We love the daily dairy and the information we are provided with especially the pictures of all the fun she’s had that week and all the different foods she’s been eating!

Our baby girl attends baby room and has settled in much easier than we imagined. All of the girls especially the baby room staff give her so much love and attention and that’s all you want when you have to work, for somebody to care for your children the way you would. The facilities are always spotlessly
clean and the equipment and toys help massively with their development.
We trust each and every one of the staff and can’t recommend them enough.

Highly recommend this nursery to any parents looking for high-quality childcare. Being a new mum it can be a massive worry leaving your child to go back to work, I have always felt completely at ease from the settling- ins leaving my baby in the care of all the staff in this nursery. They are so attentive
and show so much care and love towards my child as an individual and have always gone out of their way to meet her needs. I feel really grateful to be able to go to work each day with no worry about the care she is receiving. The staff encourage her development daily and she constantly amazes me with the things she has learnt within the setting.

After visiting many nurseries for my little girl, this one was by far the best. The staff have given both me and my daughter the time and support to enable her to settle in at her own pace. They are amazing. She absolutely loves it and just walks in and waves me off, which I thought I was never going
to achieve a couple of months back when visiting nurseries. I have seen such an improvement in the past couple of months in my daughter and I’m so glad I chose this nursery.

After a bad experience at another nursery, I was very anxious and nervous about my daughter starting somewhere new. But I’m so glad I found this nursery! The staff are amazing, so attentive and caring, and I felt at ease straight away. They care so much about the children and about their needs and development,
and you feel involved in every step. I wish I would of came here from the start!

Absolutely love my son being at this nursery. All the staff work so hard and keep you up to date with everything.
I think its great that each child has a key worker, my son loves his.
The effort that goes into all the activities to help with his development is amazing.
As he as Down Syndrome he
needs more supervision and he definitely gets it here. Always happy and loves going in.
Would highly recommend this nursery to my friends and family.

Me and my partner are very happy with all aspects of the nursery. We are so pleased our daughter has settled in well and enjoys going twice a week. I am extremely happy with the care and support that the nursery provides. The girls are so supportive and welcoming and from day one my child has loved going to nursery. My child has Down Syndrome and the nursery has gone above and beyond for us both, providing outstanding opportunities for learning
and creating a safe and stimulating environment for my child. I could not recommend this nursery more due to their excellent caring and loving members of staff.

My daughter started this nursery at fourteen months old and she is now two. After going to see seven nurseries, this one was outstanding! All the staff are very approachable and helpful with any question or worries I have for my daughter. My daughter has really sensitive skin and the nursery has been
really helpful with suggestions to help improve her skin, mainly for the nappy area and now finally with a change of nappy, her skin is a lot better. The nursery staff were so helpful and amazing with changing my daughters nappy every two hours, to keep her skin lovely. My daughter took to this nursery really quickly and didn't need many settling in sessions. My daughter is in full-time nursery and does not want to leave, it takes me twenty minutes to get her out the nursery! This just speaks volumes really! All the staff are so lovely and caring about my daughter. I could not recommend this nursery enough, it’s fantastic, take it from a really fussy mum.
My daughter has come on leaps and bounds since starting at this nursery.

I have worked at Kirkby Day Nursery for 11 years, I have over 20 years of childcare experience, I have a level 4 childcare qualification and also a level 3 management qualification. I have my own little boy Sam who also attends Kirkby Day Nursery, so he gets to experience all the wonderful things we provide. I truly love working with children and families and sharing all the wonderful things that the children do on a daily basis.

I started my journey with Bright Horizons in 2013 and I have over 17 years’ experience working with children. I qualified as a nursery nurse at the age of 17 where I gained my L2 & 3 in childcare in early years. From a nursery nurse practitioner, I developed my skill by working with amazing children, families and practitioners which supported me to become a part of the management team. Since working for Bright Horizons I have truly excelled in my practice and knowledge on how to support practitioners to become outstanding members of our team.


By the age of 32 I was given the opportunity to take on a deputy managerial role, which I am truly thankful of.
