A CARING AND INSPIRING NURSERY IN KIRKBY.

The team at Kirkby Day Nursery are passionate about children’s development, and want to nurture your child’s love of learning, fun, creativity and exploration. Ofsted has recognised their commitment to exceptional childcare and education with the achievement of a consecutive 'Outstanding' in their latest inspection (February 2017, December 2022).

Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool was established in 2000 and is based in the David Lloyd Club in Knowsley. The nursery is designed to support your child’s development from 3 months to 5 years, and the team are dedicated to delivering the best possible childcare to local families in the community.

They pride themselves on providing a safe, exciting and enjoyable nursery where children thrive as they learn. The nursery is all on one level and has a separate entrance from the David Lloyd Building. Each of the four age-specific rooms has been lovingly crafted into an inspiring and stimulating learning environment with a variety of resources and activities available.

There is a large, recently refurbished garden, which offers lots of opportunity for digging, gardening and imaginative play. Your child will love exploring the variety of areas, such as the mud kitchen hut, the cosy reading shed, and the popular outdoor water play.

My grandson has attended the nursery for just over 2 years and I have found that he has progressed so much since starting, it's amazing that they offer swimming and tennis lessons too.

My niece is currently having settling-in sessions at Kirkby Day Nursery and we couldn't be happier with how well they are going. All staff are extremely welcoming and show great interest in getting to know her and her routine. We are looking forward to her start date and watching her come on during
her time here.

Both of my children have attended the nursery in Kirkby over the last 8 years. My children's growth in learning, communication and world awareness during their pre-school years is down to the excellent team at the site. The modern facilities are used to the utmost by a dedicated team of caring and
engaging staff, who are the embodiment of professional child carers. There are also other opportunities for learning physical activities through the relationship that the nursery has fostered with the fitness club that is on site; activities such as swimming and tennis. All of this adds to a remarkably well organised and well-managed nursery centre that is inclusive, approachable and, importantly, friendly towards all parents and guardians.

My daughter has attended the nursery since age of 4 months (now aged just over 4 years). There has never been anything other than very positive experiences with the nursery. The staff are friendly, very helpful and care for the children extremely well.
In all the different rooms, there are plenty of
interesting activities for the children to do. The nursery staff regularly arrange new activities and interests for the children to take part in which are not only fun but which encourage the social and educational development of the children. My daughter loves going to the nursery and it is clear from the way staff interact with her that they really care for the well being of the children. The food provided for the children is tasty (I have sampled it!) and healthy - I would say better than what I manage to cook at home! I would definitely recommend Kirkby Day Nursery - I am very glad we chose it for our daughter.

I am quite an anxious mum and all the staff in Asquith Kirkby Day Nursery have given me the confidence to know my daughter is being extremely well looked after. I won't leave my daughter with anybody else apart from her grandparents and Kirkby Day Nursery! Every member of the staff, down to the cook,
are so polite, compassionate and me and my daughter have complete trust in all of them. They all make such an effort with my daughter, she says her key worker is her best friend! That shows how close the bond's at the nursery are. The food and variety is exceptional. The activity days they have are so much fun for all the kids. The staff put 100% commitment in to the children and all tasks they complete, especially the Christmas concert! My daughter still sings the Christmas songs now! The curriculum they provide and teaching is excellent as it shows in how well my daughter has come along and just attending for 2 half days. I cannot compliment the nursery enough.Well done Kirkby Day Nursery - you are brilliant.

I have had 1 child go through the nursery and have recently enrolled my youngest at the nursery. The staff are excellent and both our children who have attended the nursery settled very quickly due to the nature of the staff. We are always given thorough information about our child's welfare and development
whilst at the nursery. We were and are with our current child very happy with the progress they made both socially and with their learning. I would strongly recommend the nursery.

My child is currently attending settling in sessions and I couldn't be happier with how they are going so far, the staff are making the transition for my son really smooth, they are professional and friendly to talk to and have made me feel at ease leaving my son in their care during settling in sessions.
I know I will feel confident to leave him when I return to work soon.

My twins started Kirkby Day Nursery at the start of Feb but it feels like they have been there for months due to the first class transition from home to the nursery. We felt welcome from the first visit and from then regular transition visits were planned. The twins have different key workers to ensure
they are treated as individuals. They got to know their key workers and formed a trusting and caring bond.
Our children are very safe in the nursery. We completed lots of forms to cover things like who is allowed to pick up the twins, including photographs of people, weaning forms, medical info...
Communication is excellent. We get regular emails with newsletters. We receive settling in reports to let us know how the twins have got on during the day. This has been very reassuring and it is great that we can put our own comments on these forms too. We also get verbal feedback every day.
The twins enjoy playing in the stimulating and exciting environment, joining in with the activities.

My daughter has been attending the nursery for the past 8 months and I couldn't wish for anything more from the staff there.
Her development has come on so much through being in nursery and she thrives in the environment.
I am kept up to date on how she is doing and receive regular reports from the
nursery. They take on board any feedback and always have my daughters best interests in mind.
I feel comfortable leaving her there in a safe, nurturing environment and her relationship with her key worker is fantastic.

I have had a great experience with this nursery. The biggest positive point for me is the staff; they are engaging and create a fun and stimulating environment for the children. My daughter feels happy in their presence. They are approachable and seem to genuinely enjoy what they do. They are flexible
to each child and adapt the learning and tailor learning to your child and their level of development.
My daughter talks positively about her day at the nursery, always excited to go and happy when I collect her.

My little boy attends the baby room at Kirkby day nursery and he absolutely loves it there. All the girls are lovely and I know he's really well looked after.
This is my second child to attend this nursery and I honestly couldn't fault them.
My little girl went from baby room all the way through
to preschool with no problems at all.
Would highly recommend this nursery.

My little boy only attends one day a week so he finds it hard to settle sometimes but the staff here are great. They take the time to settle him and by the end of each day, he is happy and excited to tell us what he has been doing. I would recommend this nursery 100% everybody is so friendly and professional.

My son has followed in his brother's footsteps by attending Asquith. The staff are kind and friendly, very approachable and go out of their way to accommodate your children's needs. Although reluctant to leave mum's side at first my son took a shot time to settle in and now thoroughly enjoys attending.
The boys have descriptions of activities they have been doing recorded daily and sometimes pictures and photographs come home too which is great to put a mother's mind at rest.

My daughter has been in Kirkby Day Nursery for nearly 2 years now, she enjoys learning, playing and making friends. I am impressed and amazed the efforts that the staffs put into kids education in this place. Parents receive a letter before end of week about what activities will be carried out for the
following week. This gives me an insight of what my daughter is learning/playing in the nursery. We can discuss/ helping her to explore more if she is interested in the subject/topic.

There are other extra actives going on, such as swimming/tennis, which is something that my daughter enjoyed a lot.

I would definitely recommend this nursery to any parents.

My son started baby room when he was 8 months old, he does 3 full days per week and I couldn't be happier with how well he has settled in throughout the past 2 months! He has come on in leaps and bounds and I feel 100% confident leaving him there each day! Everybody has always been so helpful and I
know I made the right decision of putting him in this nursery! As soon as he enters the nursery doors, he is full of smiles and loves being there! I would definitely recommend this nursery!

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.397)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.397) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (96 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.397 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 number of registered child places is 13.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.4 = 0.597
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I started my journey with Bright Horizons in 2013 and I have over 17 years’ experience working with children. I qualified as a nursery nurse at the age of 17 where I gained my L2 & 3 in childcare in early years. From a nursery nurse practitioner, I developed my skill by working with amazing children, families and practitioners which supported me to become a part of the management team. Since working for Bright Horizons I have truly excelled in my practice and knowledge on how to support practitioners to become outstanding members of our team.

By the age of 32 I was given the opportunity to take on a deputy managerial role, which I am truly thankful of.
