My little girl is 18 months old and has attended this nursery for nearly a year. She really seems to enjoy her time at nursery and the staff are brilliant with her. I was so worried about returning to work and leaving her at nursery but the staff at Kirkby Day Nursery really helped to put my mind at
ease and we were able to do lots of settling in sessions which was great.

I have a son aged 3 and a daughter aged 11 months who both attend this nursery. I can highly recommend the nursery. The staff are amazing and their enthusiasm is plain to see. They are caring and considerate to the children and as my son as progressed through the different rooms his needs and requirements
have been met. The well-being of the children is paramount and I have never had any concerns from the moment he started. He looks forward to going and has built good relationships with the staff. It is obvious that they have lots of fun but also their is an educational element to lots of what they do. If there are any issues or concerns the staff are more than happy to address them which is assuring as a parent. The food is also excellent as it is provided by the attached gym and is healthy and nutritious with plenty of variety. Parental participation is encouraged and it has been a pleasure to see my son progress and develop with the help of all the team at the Nursery.

I have had all 3 of my children attend this nursery over the past 6 years. The nursery is very secure, the quality of the facilities and equipment is outstanding, and the range of activities on offer keep the children engaged and happy. However, what really sets them apart is the quality of the staff.
From the manager all the way down, the staff are highly trained, friendly, collaborative and highly communicative. You always feel as through you are fully appraised of your childs activities and development and should you raise an issue , these are dealt with swiftly and with a very positive attitude. You couldn't ask for more. If you're looking for a nursery in the Kirkby area for your child, I couldn't recommend them more.

My daughter has been attending Kirkby day nursery since may 2016 and she has come on leaps and bounds since starting. She enjoys attending nursery and is comfortable with the staff. With her dairy free diet the nursery have been able to accommodate her needs and offer a variety of different healthy
meals and snacks. Due to working in the nhs my shifts do change at short notice and the staff really go out of their way to accommodate these changes. It was the first and only nursery we viewed and immediately loved it and felt comfortable. They offer a good early years programme in order for children to progress.

My son has recently moved into toddler class after being in baby room for 7 months. The transition was very well planned and we have not had any concerns with this. He thoroughly enjoys his time in nursery to the point where he gets excited when we get him out of the car to go in. It is so reassuring
for us when we leave him knowing he is safe and having lots of fun.

We can't recommend Kirkby day nursery enough. Our little girl is soon to leave and start reception class and all of the staff have been amazing right throughout her time at nursery. She started when she was 7 months old and has developed so much. Our little boy has recently started at Kirkby day nursery
and we couldn't be happier.

My nephew goes to Asquith Kirkby Day Nursery and I cannot praise them enough, they are excellent at their job, the proof is in my child- he is so advanced for his age and I believe it's a lot to do with him being at Asquith Kirkby Day Nursery not forgetting his parents and grandparents and relatives
who all help in the person he is becoming. So well done Asquith Kirkby Day Nursery I would recommend you to all my friends.

My daughter has not been at the nursery very long but is very happy there, but still settling in. She is very happy with most of the staff and loves going one staff member but loves all the staff in her and other rooms. The staff are all very kind and caring and I feel like they really have an interest
in her wellbeing. She has come on a lot with going to new people, playing and sleeping. She really enjoys her days in nursery and her daily reports are good to see how she is doing and how her day has been as well as updates of staff when picking her up.

I cannot thank the staff of Asquith Kirkby enough for there professionalism, care and support they have shown us through the development of our daughter. When our daughter started in Asquith Kirkby she was very sly and wouldn't interact with other children. Within a few sessions we noticed a change
in our daughter, her confidence bloomed and she became a different child who had developed friendships and was learning new and exciting things.

Our daughter always leaves nursery with a big smile and says she has had the best day playing with her friends, listening to stories in circle time, dancing with her friends, playing outdoors and she loves her imaginary play time in the home corner.
We are so happy with our daughters development and she is exceeding her milestones so we could not be happier with her progress.

All I can say to all the staff at Asquith is thank you for caring for our precious daughter.

My daughter is always learning new things, the staff encourage the children in everything they do and I can see the confidence in my daughter shine when she is telling us about what she has learnt that day. I would recommend this nursery as I feel my daughter is well cared for and enjoys being with
her friends in pre-school.

I could not recommend this nursery enough from the minute I walked in for a showround to my child now doing two full days a week. The staff I engaged with could not do enough for us as a family and continue to do so. They supported my child and myself with settling in sessions, continuous communication
is at a high standard and something I really appreciate as a parent.

Staff are enthusiastic to see the children, provide comfort for children when upset and have a genuine connection with the children. They provide peace of mind for me as a parent. The building itself is great and decorated to a high standard, resources are fantastic, room are well lit and has various areas that I know will challenge my child such as water play, home area, small world area, music and numeracy area etc.

Myself and the nursery work together to ensure my child is thriving and encourage areas of learning such as speech and language, numeracy etc we do this by communication and home learning stories.

My daughter has been at the nursery since she was 8 months old and she is now 34 months. My decision to return to work was a difficult one to make but after meeting the Manager and the team it was made much easier. My daughter loves the nursery and has developed much more than we ever expected. She
has made really good relationships with her key workers and the other staff as have I myself. The communication between the staff and myself has been particularly good and I am always up to date with everything that has happened during her day at nursery. She is just being prepared to move to another room which is always a worry but the manner in which the team manage these changes is a credit to the nursery. I would recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a consistent, caring, fun and safe environment for there child. I don't think my daughter has ever had a boring day!!

This nursery has to be one of the best for the care and safety of children, as my son had previously went to a different nursery where we encountered numerous problems but since he started here over 12 months ago we have not had one problem. All the staff are lovely and friendly, they have helped my
son so much with his speech and confidence and I can't recommend them enough.

Choosing a nursery for your baby is such a huge deal. Kirkby Day Nursery was actually the first nursery we decided to view as we had heard great things about it. We did look around others but we knew pretty much straight away that this one was the right one for us. The staff are so friendly. They took
their time to get to know us as a family and most of all they have got to know our baby boy so well. It's the attention to detail from all the staff that makes this nursery such a lovely place. This makes us as first time parents feel at ease leaving our baby there while we go to work knowing that he is being well cared for, fed with nutritious foods and being encouraged to learn. Our baby is only ten months old but it is clear to see he is very happy being in this Nursery. So we, as parents couldn't be happier and would definitely recommend Kirkby Day Nursery to others.

Our daughter is 2 1/2 and joined when she was 9 months old. We looked at a number of nurseries and have never regretted choosing this nursery for her. The staff are great - interested in our little girls family and interests, good daily feedback, and detailed information and guidance at parents evenings.
We've been lucky to have exceptional key workers in the different rooms she has been in since she joined. Really good varied activities, nice outdoor space and a loads of lovely meals. She has loved the swimming lessons just a shame these are on hold at the moment but hope this is something that she will be able to pick up again soon.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.397)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.397) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (96 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.397 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Kirkby Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 number of registered child places is 13.4. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.4 = 0.597
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I started my journey with Bright Horizons in 2013 and I have over 17 years’ experience working with children. I qualified as a nursery nurse at the age of 17 where I gained my L2 & 3 in childcare in early years. From a nursery nurse practitioner, I developed my skill by working with amazing children, families and practitioners which supported me to become a part of the management team. Since working for Bright Horizons I have truly excelled in my practice and knowledge on how to support practitioners to become outstanding members of our team.

By the age of 32 I was given the opportunity to take on a deputy managerial role, which I am truly thankful of.
