Acorn Day Nursery at Burton Latimer occupies a purpose-built building on a half-acre site. The nursery has bright and spacious rooms, equipped with a full range of high quality equipment and resources.

The nursery is well-known for building close relationships with parents, through daily verbal communication, regular newsletters and social events, which are particularly popular, helping to forge strong links with the whole family.

One of the nursery’s most attractive features, and extremely popular with the children, is its wonderful outside play areas and gardens, including a sensory garden. The staff are warm and friendly and welcome all prospective parents to visit the nursery.

  • Fees are inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities.
    We only charge a £100 registration deposit which is refunded against the first month’s fees. We don’t charge for settling in sessions, but we do expect payment for all nursery fees to be paid up front at the beginning of each month, which is standard practice for all childcare providers. We do not charge for bank holidays, our four training days each year, or for the three days closure between Christmas and New Year. We do, however, charge for the days children don’t attend through illness or holidays, apart from exceptional circumstances.

My little boy has been coming to this nursery for 2 years. After viewing a number of nurseries, Acorns topped the lot! It's friendly and inviting, the staff are fantastic and the variety of activities they provide the children to cater for their ages are brilliant. The outdoor area is great and no
matter what the weather, they encourage the children to go out and play but they give them the choice which I think is great but so important. My little boy loves the outdoors regardless of the weather but not all children are the same and the staff appreciate that and ensure that there is something equally as fun going on inside. The food is excellent and so varied. My son has excellent table manners and good manners in general and that's thanks to the hard work that the staff put into the children. Overall, it's lovely and my little boy can't get out of the car quick enough in the mornings!

My son has been with Acorn since 10 months old, he is now getting ready to start school in September! Acorn has been amazing from the start. Always ready to help and always have practical suggestions to problems. Every milestone has been celebrated and encouraged, from first steps and first words through
to toilet training. The support given to parents is fab. The staff are friendly and they communicate well, giving feedback every day. Advice on tackling sleep issues, emotional issues etc has always been available, and transitions through the 3 stages of the nursery have been very well managed considering my son doesn't cope well with change. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Acorn and I do so often. I would not send my children anywhere else in future.

Our little girl started here when she 18 months old and is now nearly 4.


The nursery space is great and the outdoors is fantastic, it was one of the things that sold the nursery to us, we love how often the children are outside playing and exploring, the addition of the chickens was great too.

In addition to this forest school has been great and our very clean little girl comes home every week muddy and happy after it.


In the time that our little one has been at the nursery, she has gone from a quiet, shy girl to a confident outgoing crazy girl and the staff at the nursery really have helped her gain this confidence and come out of herself. The staff always have great activities to do and go along with what the children would like to try too. You do feel that all of the staff really care about your child and their welfare.


The nursery is a warm welcoming environment, the staff welcome all of the children by name, I would recommend to anyone looking for a safe place for their little one.

We are very pleased with the level of care provided for our daughter. Our daughter is happy and excited to go to nursery each day and often talks about her friends and teachers at home. The nursery staff are all very friendly and always greet us with a welcoming smile and chat each morning. The nursery

We have had 3 children attend the nursery in the last 3 years. Our eldest settled at the nursery beautifully and his brothers couldn't wait for it to be their turns, counting down the days. The whole family has been made welcome and the boys have grown so incredibly with the support of Acorn. Forest
school was a big hit and smiling happy faces make the extra muddy laundry worth it. The staff are amazing, nothing is too much trouble. Would recommend this nursery to everybody

My daughter started in September and absolutely loves it. She settled immediately due to the fantastic care and attention the staff give. Great nursery, lovely staff and great atmosphere as soon as you walk in! My daughter has come such a long way since joining Acorn. It was the best decision I made choosing this nursery! The outdoor activities are excellent, my daughter is always coming home muddy, which I love!


The Manager and

all the staff are always so fab- really approachable and helpful. If I ever need an extra session for her it's never too much trouble. Great nursery, highly recommend!

If you want your child to have fun, get very messy and play in good size rooms and grounds then this is a great nursery.
I have 2 children at the Nursery, one in acorn room and one in squirrel room and I've never had a problem with them wanting to go, they seem to really enjoy it there. I know they
will be doing lots of great activities and are well looked after.
the food is varied and plentiful. the staff are friendly and approachable.

My daughter attends this nursery and I couldn't recommend it enough!. The staff are great and my daughter has come so far with learning since starting here last year. It's a very warm and welcoming place and any questions and queries are always dealt with. The dinners provided are always fresh and healthy.
My daughter loves them!. The playground is a fun and encouraging place for children to play in!

My child flourished at this setting. Confidence was developed by the outstanding and caring team who supported my child at every next step. My son loves going to nursery, the garden is superb for children who like to venture out, the sensory room is lovely and meals are superb, however, what makes this nursery is people that work there, they are friendly, fun and warm-hearted, always smiling and have time to talk to you. My daughter has been attending this nursery since October 2015 (from 8 months old) and she absolutely loves it! My daughter has been going to Acorn Nursery in Burton Latimer since March last Year when she was near 10 months old and she loves it there. In fact, the nursery is that good that we decided to put her in there all week, rather than use a childminder. She has developed so much since being there and
all of the staff members are so lovely and friendly, they always keep you informed of your child's day; the daily diary and being able to see the observations online is fantastic. The space in the rooms are very generous and the garden is amazing. The difference with Acorn is that the management team are always visible and approachable, rather than being locked away in an office!


I would definitely recommend this nursery to any parent.

My daughter has been at the nursery for nearly 3 years and has loved it. The staff have been fantastic in each stage that she has been there (since 7 months) taking the time to get to know her and using their knowledge to move her forward. I have seen the difference in her vocabulary, drawing skills,
play development, making friends to name just a few things. It's never easy to drop her off but it has always been safe in the knowledge that she will have a great time and staff will give her the best care. Many a cuddle has been given by staff at drop off time to reassure her and get her off to the best start of the day. I can't thank you enough for making her time with you the best possible and your input in getting her ready for her next chapter at pre-school.

My Granddaughter really enjoys coming to nursery. She begins to talk about some of her friends and the staff that are there. The setting is spacious and always looks inviting. Her speech has really come on leaps and bounds since starting nursery and she is quite the chatterbox.

My daughter has had the most wonderful time at Acorn Nursery in Burton Latimer. She has been extremely well looked after and I have watched her grow in confidence hugely over the past few months. My daughter joined the nursery at the age of one and I think the Acorns Nursery staff have had a very positive
impact on her development. The atmosphere is always fun and secure and I especially like the emphasis on outdoor activities and fun. There are always different activities planned for the children which keeps them entertained. I feel that the staff truly care about the children and this in turn means the children are happy at the nursery :)

Acorn Nursery exudes a sense of warmness and welcome. The staff are open and cheerful and the facilities are open and spacious. My daughter has been attending this nursery for two years. All the staff are extremely caring and she has grown in confidence immeasurably over this time. The nursery has excellent facilities for children of all ages and the outside space is a particularly special feature. My daughter has spent many
a happy hour in the sand pit, trying to stroke one of the chickens or 'cooking' in the mud kitchen. As well as the daily activities which are always creative and fun, the children benefit from special visitors to the nursery and visits into the local area. Recently my daughter loved meeting the police woman that came to talk to the children and taking a bus ride into town in order to buy ingredients for a tea party in honour of the Queen's birthday. Whenever I have had any particular problems or requests regarding my daughter's care, the nursery staff have always gone above and beyond to help. I would highly recommend this nursery.

Our child has been at Acorn for 7 months and we have had great pleasure in watching her flourish with the help of the caring, friendly and helpful staff at the nursery. The nursery is a clean, fun and happy place for our daughter to spend time and she has learnt so much with the wide selection of activities
both indoors and outdoors.
She has made so many friends and is very excited to go to nursery each day. We feel very comfortable dropping her off as we know she will have a fun day of learning.

Helen

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2015

Helen has worked at Acorn for over five years and has a real passion for childcare.


She has two sons and a daughter and until recently lived in Burton Latimer, so knows the area very well. She qualified with her NNEB level 3 in 1997 and completed her Bachelor of Arts, integrated working with children and their families in the early years in 2015.


Helen is also Burton's Designated Safeguarding Lead, so if you ever have any concerns or would like to chat about anything safeguarding-related, please visit or call the nursery and ask to speak to Helen directly - alternatively, the setting can provide a direct email address for her.

Jo Carlisle

Job Title: Senior Administrator Joined: 2014

Jo - Senior Administrator- joined Acorn in June 2014 on a part time basis as the Nursery Administrator. This evolved into a full-time position, and she is now a Senior Administrator, based at Burton Latimer but helps throughout the organisation.
Every day at nursery is very varied and different, one of the key points Jo likes about her job is seeing the children progress through the nursery, growing into unique and confident little humans. Jo also covers in the kitchen and the rooms when required adding variety to her role

Deputy Manager and Forest School Leader. Lucy joined Acorn in March 2022 as the Out of School Manager at Barton Seagrave. Lucy still oversees the out of school club as well as her role at Burton Latimer.
