Acorn Day Nursery at Burton Latimer occupies a purpose-built building on a half-acre site. The nursery has bright and spacious rooms, equipped with a full range of high quality equipment and resources.

The nursery is well-known for building close relationships with parents, through daily verbal communication, regular newsletters and social events, which are particularly popular, helping to forge strong links with the whole family.

One of the nursery’s most attractive features, and extremely popular with the children, is its wonderful outside play areas and gardens, including a sensory garden. The staff are warm and friendly and welcome all prospective parents to visit the nursery.

  • Fees are inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities.
    We only charge a £100 registration deposit which is refunded against the first month’s fees. We don’t charge for settling in sessions, but we do expect payment for all nursery fees to be paid up front at the beginning of each month, which is standard practice for all childcare providers. We do not charge for bank holidays, our four training days each year, or for the three days closure between Christmas and New Year. We do, however, charge for the days children don’t attend through illness or holidays, apart from exceptional circumstances.

My daughter is very happy here, there are lots for her to enjoy, she thoroughly enjoys forest schools. Acorn Nursery is amazing. My son and I have been so well cared for and supported since day one. Every need has been met with genuine love, care and professionalism. I can't fault the service or management and only have praise for their conduct. The facilities on offer are wonderful, especially the outdoor
space. The Forest School sessions are brilliant and staff are incredibly enthusiastic and goodnatured. We have been blessed with the perfect pairing of key workers who are nurturing, gentle and accommodating. The meals are freshly made, varied and healthy and his mealtimes are social and organised. My child has been able to develop and learn at his own pace throughout our time here and has grown in confidence immensely. I feel secure in his learning progress and that he is now 100% ready for school. I would like to thank all the staff that have been a part of our journey and wish them continued excellence.

The staff at the nursery are always helpful and courteous. My daughter has completely flourished in the 9 months she has been attending. The Famly app is amazing and I love how I can see what she’s eaten and how much etc. The development updates and pictures are also great.
The app is a lovely touch
and reassuring when away from her and worrying if she’s eaten enough or she’s had a nap. The app makes being away from her easier.

My daughter has been coming to this nursery since she turned 1 (she is now 4), and she loves coming here. The staff are all welcoming, caring and loving and she has built fantastic relationships with all her key persons throughout the years. The nursery itself is lovely and has a wonderful outside area.
She enjoys the extra activities the nursery put on for the children (e.g. Forest School) and I thank all the staff for playing their part in nurturing and developing her as a person. 10/10 A+

My daughter has been attending the setting for nearly two years now. My daughter has attended a couple of nurseries now but I’ve found Acorn Day Nursery suited her so well and she loves going! She has thrived into such an independent, happy, loving child with the support of the setting. Her development
is encouraged through well-planned activities and supported by the care and attention the team gives her. The environment is very spacious with lots of resources. The children have access to a large garden all year round and in the pre-school room, they go on regular forest school trips. The nursery often holds events, inviting parents and families to participate and encourage lots of parental involvement. Such as a fantastic Mother’s Day tea which was held recently. The staff accommodate my situation so well which meant I was able to attend with my daughter! They went above and beyond so I could enjoy a precious moment with my daughter for which I can’t thank them enough!

My little girl loves it, she started at age 1, been there for 3 months now.
At first, she used to cry when I left but now she settles so well.

This nursery is simply awesome and both my children have and continue to love it at Acorn Day Nursery.
The staff there are just so friendly, lovely and completely on your side! They are so accommodating and genuinely care about each and every child they have in their care - you can see this instantly
the minute you step into the building!
It really does feel as though the girls that work there do not see it as a ‘job!’ They actually love what they do!
They’ve just put on the most amazing Mother’s Day breakfast and afternoon tea! Not only on one day but two! It was so lovely and they couldn’t do enough for us mums/grandparents!

My son settled in so well when he started the nursery at 8 months old. He is always so happy going there as everyone is so friendly. All the staff in his room know him very well, are caring and make him feel special. The nursery is well resourced and regularly has special events to include the family.
It has a great outdoor space, has chickens and forest school sessions for older children. Communication is fantastic with the family app and at handovers.

This is a fab nursery. Both my twins have been at Acorn for over a year and both love it. My little boy has special needs and they have been amazing with him. Me and my husband can not thank Acorn and the staff enough they really have made a difference with our twins as my daughter has made so many

Very friendly staff. Safe control at front desk too. Better than our previous one on security. Great food menus for the children. Our son always comes home with a smile and lots to tell us about his day too.

Very rarely do I see my children as happy as I do at nursery. The nursery feels like a big family where children are happy to communicate with all staff and their views are considered. Arrived to find my children had experienced a wonderful day, making gifts and decorations for my wedding. The day our
children leave will be a very sad one for the entire family. Thank you for taking the children's whole well-being so seriously and helping them grow into lovely little people.

We are so happy that our daughters started at Acorn Nursery in 2014, a really good decision.


When we pick them up, they are very happy and excited telling us about all the activities they have done.


They have grown in confidence massively and built great friendships.


The activities they

do are innovative and create a fun way to learn and develop. They get lots of outdoor play and activities outside nursery like Forrest school, walks to the supermarket, post office and park.


The staff are so welcoming every day, very friendly and professional. My daughters will miss them.


They leave to go to school in September and I want to say big thanks to everyone at the nursery.

Our daughter has thrived since starting at Acorn nursery a year ago. She has integrated well into the different rooms as she has moved up, all with great support from all members of the nursery team. All the staff are so friendly and happy to help where possible. They have been a great support to us,
and it shows they genuinely care about all the children and their individual needs. My daughter is so happy to go to nursery, and when she talks about nursery at home with such happiness it makes us happy to know she is safe, having fun, learning, and becoming more of the little character she is already!

My granddaughter loves coming to the nursery and always leaves with a big smile on her face. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and there is always lots of fun activities available and the nursery is warm and inviting. There is a vast outdoor space which my granddaughter loves and she enjoys
spending lots of time outside and the chickens are a fabulous idea!
The food is all freshly made and there is a variety of different meals that I can see on the menus. The staff always let me know what she has been doing in nursery and how she has been.
I would definitely recommend this nursery to friends and family.

My son moved to Burton Latimer Acorn Day Nursery when we moved into Kettering. He was 15months old he and was in his previous nursery since 8months old and had only just settled in, the change was quite stressful but Acorn staff made my son and I feel confident that he was in a safe place. After a month
of tears, he was soon waving me out the door excited for new adventures at nursery.


My son loves nursery and I sometimes even struggle to get him to come home, over the last year since moving up to the last year of nursery the changes I've seen in my son are amazing he can count into the teens, he can sing his ABCs and can identify every colour and the standard shapes. I have expressed my concerns about my son not being interested in writing but the nursery have reassured me that this is quite normal in boys of his age and they are helping me by encouraging drawing at nursery.
I can't fault the staff or facilities it is an amazing nursery and the opening times and prices make it worth my while whilst working.

Helen

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2015

Helen has worked at Acorn for over five years and has a real passion for childcare.


She has two sons and a daughter and until recently lived in Burton Latimer, so knows the area very well. She qualified with her NNEB level 3 in 1997 and completed her Bachelor of Arts, integrated working with children and their families in the early years in 2015.


Helen is also Burton's Designated Safeguarding Lead, so if you ever have any concerns or would like to chat about anything safeguarding-related, please visit or call the nursery and ask to speak to Helen directly - alternatively, the setting can provide a direct email address for her.

Jo Carlisle

Job Title: Senior Administrator Joined: 2014

Jo - Senior Administrator- joined Acorn in June 2014 on a part time basis as the Nursery Administrator. This evolved into a full-time position, and she is now a Senior Administrator, based at Burton Latimer but helps throughout the organisation.
Every day at nursery is very varied and different, one of the key points Jo likes about her job is seeing the children progress through the nursery, growing into unique and confident little humans. Jo also covers in the kitchen and the rooms when required adding variety to her role
