Acorn Day Nursery at Burton Latimer occupies a purpose-built building on a half-acre site. The nursery has bright and spacious rooms, equipped with a full range of high quality equipment and resources.

The nursery is well-known for building close relationships with parents, through daily verbal communication, regular newsletters and social events, which are particularly popular, helping to forge strong links with the whole family.

One of the nursery’s most attractive features, and extremely popular with the children, is its wonderful outside play areas and gardens, including a sensory garden. The staff are warm and friendly and welcome all prospective parents to visit the nursery.

  • Fees are inclusive of all meals, snacks, drinks (including approved formula milk), nappies and activities.
    We only charge a £100 registration deposit which is refunded against the first month’s fees. We don’t charge for settling in sessions, but we do expect payment for all nursery fees to be paid up front at the beginning of each month, which is standard practice for all childcare providers. We do not charge for bank holidays, our four training days each year, or for the three days closure between Christmas and New Year. We do, however, charge for the days children don’t attend through illness or holidays, apart from exceptional circumstances.

Acorn is an excellent nursery. They cover so many topics and events. Everyone is included. My daughter loves going to 'school' and has learnt a lot whilst attending. Very good set up and communication between practitioners and parents/children is fab!

My second child is currently at the nursery, he gets so much out of it and is happy. We love how the staff, even those not directly related to our son's care make the effort to get to know him and notice him as an individual. Our son prefers to do his own thing a lot of the time and we have appreciated
how the nursery have provided extra encouragement to get him involved in group activities. We are extremely happy at this nursery. Thank you to all the staff at Acorn!

Our son has been at the nursery for a year and a half now and he absolutely loves it! His confidence and independence have come along fantastically, and Acorn have been a major part of that. The staff are so amazing with the children and really love and care for them. We have absolute confidence and
trust in them. Leaving our son in their care is a really positive experience and we have no concerns at all. I think our son will be sad when he has to start school in September and leave them! Would 100% recommend them to anyone!

Both of my children have attended Acorns in Burton Latimer and I couldn’t be happier with the care they provide. Everyone that works at the nursery is helpful and supportive and it’s obvious how much they all care about the children which is really reassuring and comforting.

Acorns have been absolutely amazing especially during this challenging time with covid. I feel my little boy is safe in the environment they set while ensuring he still has lots of fun. Acorn in Latimer is a fantastic place for my 2 and a half year old son. Staff are caring and always in a good mood. My son always comes out happy and very chatty about his great experiences during his time there. Communication with staff and management is easy, accessible and productive towards my child's
development. I feel Acorn is like a part of our family and, for me, that means very much. I like it because they encourage outdoor play and they do forest school and all playing materials are from natural resources.

Two of my sons have been to Acorn Day Nursery in Burton Latimer, one of which is still currently there. Both of my boys have had problems with speaking for which they have had grommets fitted. The care and dedication of the staff to help them learn how to talk and preparing them to be ready as much
as they can for school is outstanding. The communication through the parent to nursery app is wonderful and amazing to be kept up to date on their progress. My son who is currently at nursery can sometimes get upset going in which isn't nice to leave him however a member of staff always gets in touch either by phone call or a message through the app which is wonderful. All of the staff are friendly and welcoming and truly adore all of the children. Such a fantastic team that provides great experiences for all children.

Friendly, professional and knowledgeable staff members make this nursery a great place for the development of my boy. The setting is very safe and when you walk in the building you can instantly see all the efforts made to develop the imagination of your kids. My son really enjoys the forest school.
This nursery does not only help to develop the education mindset but also developing my son's social skills and educating him about the environment. Learning about the planet, recycling and the damage of plastic. Listening to him give me reassurance about the future. Staff are always happy to give person-centred support to both family and the kids. Staff make extra efforts to understand and celebrate different cultures and festivals. I was really proud when the staff made lamb and decorations for the Diwali festival. As a parent, this Nursery represents everything I would love my son to enjoy. Will surely recommend this nursery to every parent.

My son is so happy attending Acorn nursery Burton Latimer. He has been there for 3 years and in this time has grown in confidence. They do so many different activities that are fun and educational. The care and provision he receives is excellent and they keep me well informed of his development and

My twin girls have been at Acorn for over 3 years, I’ve never had a single complaint. It’s a lovely nursery, the staff are extremely helpful and the girls absolutely love it! My favourite things about Acorn is the girls are able to take part in lots of outdoor play, forest school and have a varied diet
plan. Throughout the whole pandemic, the nursery have done everything possible to keep the setting open for key workers, help financially to people that were not key workers and keep as much normality as possible to the children’s day to day lives. I couldn’t thank them enough.

We enrolled our daughter in the height of the Covid-19 pandemic owing to both parents being keyworkers. This was naturally a considerably stressful time and we wanted the impact on our daughter to be minimal. Acorn has provided our daughter with the most wonderful environment to learn, socialise and
has created strong relationships with the amazing staff at Burton. Communication is second to none - the app provides a safety blanket for any parent who is worried about a transition. The staff are amazing (her keyworker is so understanding and down to earth) and have provided a home from home when we have to work. Activities are innovative and exciting and we have loved watching our daughter bloom over the last 9 months. Thank you!

I would be extremely likely to recommend Acorn Nursery to anyone willing to listen! My two-year-old son settled incredibly well with a rushed settling in period due to family illness and lack of childcare bubble. The staff are welcoming and nothing seems too much trouble. The activity reports and observations
are a delight. I thoroughly enjoy seeing what he gets up to - most activities I wouldn’t dream of doing at home. He gets a varied mix of play which supports his learning. Forest school is the icing on the cake! Food is a highlight too - he’s trying and being offered cuisine from around the world. How wonderful. His speech is coming on leaps and bounds. 5 stars from me and my husband. Just wish we had known about Acorn when my five-year-old daughter required a setting. Keep doing what you’re doing Acorn at Burton.

Helen

Job Title: Senior Nursery Manager Joined: 2015

Helen has worked at Acorn for over five years and has a real passion for childcare.


She has two sons and a daughter and until recently lived in Burton Latimer, so knows the area very well. She qualified with her NNEB level 3 in 1997 and completed her Bachelor of Arts, integrated working with children and their families in the early years in 2015.

Jo Carlisle

Job Title: Senior Administrator Joined: 2014

Jo - Senior Administrator- joined Acorn in June 2014 on a part time basis as the Nursery Administrator. This evolved into a full-time position, and she is now a Senior Administrator, based at Burton Latimer but helps throughout the organisation.
Every day at nursery is very varied and different, one of the key points Jo likes about her job is seeing the children progress through the nursery, growing into unique and confident little humans. Jo also covers in the kitchen and the rooms when required adding variety to her role

Deputy Manager and Forest School Leader. Lucy joined Acorn in March 2022 as the Out of School Manager at Barton Seagrave. Lucy still oversees the out of school club as well as her role at Burton Latimer.
