My daughter has been attending this nursery for two years. All the staff are extremely caring and she has grown in confidence immeasurably over this time. The nursery has excellent facilities for children of all ages and the outside space is a particularly special feature. My daughter has spent many a happy hour in the sand pit, trying to stroke one of the chickens or 'cooking' in the mud kitchen. As well as the daily activities which are always creative and fun, the children benefit from special visitors to the nursery and visits into the local area. Recently my daughter loved meeting the police woman that came to talk to the children and taking a bus ride into town in order to buy ingredients for a tea party in honour of the Queen's birthday. Whenever I have had any particular problems or requests regarding my daughter's care, the nursery staff have always gone above and beyond to help. I would highly recommend this nursery.
She has made so many friends and is very excited to go to nursery each day. We feel very comfortable dropping her off as we know she will have a fun day of learning.
Both my son and daughter attend Acorn nursery and they both love it there. It has fantastic staff who are friendly, enthusiastic and professional - this gives me great peace of mind knowing that my children are safe and happy. The outdoor area is great and there is always a variety of activities for your child to take part in, such as Zumba and Music Man. They also bring various animals into the nursery, such as puppies and newborn chicks, which my son loves (and I am sure my daughter will too when she is a little older). I highly recommend this nursery.
My son has been at the nursery since August, he moved from a much smaller nursery and I was worried about how he'd settle. I had no reason to worry, he loves it! His speech has developed so much and he eats much better at nursery than he does at home. He has made so many friends and all of the staff are great with him. He does so many different activities each day, the only complaint I have is how filthy he manages to get!
We have had 2 children at acorn nursery over the last 3 years. We have had great pleasure in watching our children flourish with the help of the kind, friendly and helpful staff at the nursery. We have always found the nursery to be a bright and happy place in which our children have always felt comfortable with a lovely big garden and plenty of outdoor activities.
Whilst attending Acorn nursery my grandson has had tremendous fun and through activities and a wonderful staff ensuring children are happy as well as learning through play has acquired interactive personal skills and competencies that will benefit him on starting school in September. Activities with parents and grandparents inclusion are also looked forward too. Staff are always welcoming and smiling children are a great testament to a happy atmosphere and environment. My grandson will enter school with confidence acquired through his attendance at Acorn nursery.
Fantastic nursery! My daughter settled here better then we ever could have hoped for and has made lots of friends. The staff are helpful, kind, innovative and fun! Food is of a good standard and choices are healthy but suited to children's tastes, my daughter always asks for seconds! Activities are varied, my daughter particularly enjoys the Music Man who comes in and Forest School. They have a great outdoor space which they utilise effectively and the children love playing outside, recently they had some baby turkeys! Overall I would highly recommend this nursery, it is run and managed to an extremely high standard and the children are happy and well cared for.
My grandson really enjoys coming to nursery, he attends every morning. His key person is always helpful and supportive. We love that we can all submit home observations to his learning journal and also view photographs of activities he has been involved in.
The outside space is fantastic and my grandson really enjoys going offsite on a weekly basis to forest school at the local pocket park, where the children take part in activities within the natural environment.
My grandson's confidence has increased rapidly since attending Acorn and this will help support him when he moves on to school.
My brother loves his days at this nursery, he has made lots of friends that he talks about constantly. The staff are caring and attentive providing a secure base for the children.
The food variety is fantastic! Offering freshly cooked meals prepared on site by the nursery cook.
The garden is by far the best area, it is HUGE!! The children have so much space to explore and enjoy!!
Would definitely recommend this nursery to anybody!!!
My 3 year old son has grown in confidence during his time at nursery and particular like the big outdoor space area that is being used most days. He enjoys the home cooked food and is always happy when I come and collect him.
I couldn't recommend this nursery highly enough.
My daughter loves coming to nursery, the staff are all welcoming and she has built a fantastic bond with her key person. The nursery itself is lovely and has a wonderful outside area. She is always excited to come into nursery.
Love this nursery - our little one has been here nearly two years, and his brother was here before that. Staff are always kind and friendly - it's not a pristine show home of a nursery but our boys have always been happy, stimulated and confident in the environment. The garden is a great outdoor space and really well used in nearly all weathers, which is very helpful for an active toddler. The nursery is supportive and has always tried very hard to accommodate extra childcare requests.
My daughter has been attending the nursery since April and has settled in really well! She loves playing in the garden in all weathers and has learnt so many new skills from the activities the staff provide. Her key person has been great with her as well as all the other members of staff. She regularly chats about what she has done and enjoys singing all the new songs she has learnt. The nursery offers lovely freshly prepared meals and encourages independence, letting my daughter pour her own drinks, serve her own snacks and meals. She looks forward to going and we are excited to see her develop and learn more the longer she attends the setting.
The home visit really helped with the smooth transition as it provided an introduction within his own environment.
The outdoor area is really big and has so much to offer, the children play outside in all weathers wearing their welly boots and mud suits.
My brother is always keen to tell us about his exciting days at nursery and he has formed some really strong friendships with other children who he will miss greatly when he moves on to school in September.
I'm really pleased with Acorn Nursery, I've never had a bad word to say against them. Every time I've asked them for information or asked to get me something they have always done it. My child loves all the staff at Acorn, the only thing that was hard for him was having different key workers, if staff leave but that's the only problem, which is not Acorns fault at all. The staff are all polite and friendly and always there to help answer questions.
My little one loves going to Acorn, she can't wait to get there in the morning. I have to persuade her to come home. The staff are always amazing. Feedback is really good and I know she is being looked after well. Overall I am very happy with the nursery and would recommend it to everyone.
I love this nursery! They make all of the food on site, always fresh and no processed food. They let the children play and get messy. They are always thinking of new ways for the children to explore and learn. They constantly update me on special things my daughter and son have done or said, often with pictures or craft projects to go with it. My daughter asks about school all the time and is so excited to start her day. I know all of the staff love my children and treat them like their own. In addition, they focus on her education, she loves to read books, she knows her numbers and is learning her letters.
My son is due to start school this year and he will most certainly miss Acorn as will we. He will definitely be attending Acorn holiday club care!
She instantly went off to play without crying and has never done that before despite being at her previous nursery for 2 and a half years!
I believe this is down to the enthusiasm amongst all staff and how they all work together for the children! Thank you Acorn :)

Deputy Manager and Forest School Leader. Lucy joined Acorn in March 2022 as the Out of School Manager at Barton Seagrave. Lucy still oversees the out of school club as well as her role at Burton Latimer.
Every day at nursery is very varied and different. One of the key points Jo likes about her job is seeing the children progress through the nursery, growing into unique and confident little humans. She also covers the kitchen and the rooms when required, adding variety to her role
