Children 1st Shepshed Nursery School is situated near the centre of Shepshed, close to the M1. The nursery has been refurbished throughout; with bright, open areas for babies, toddlers, early years and out-of-school children, from birth to 12-years-old.

The friendly, enthusiastic staff are all fully trained and very experienced, and child to staff ratios are even lower than Ofsted requirements.

Outside there is a garden designed to maximise the potential for outdoor play, and children are encouraged to choose their own activity with a huge variety of options both in and outside.

The nursery offers funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4 year olds.

A fantastic nursery school environment, with the added care and attention that comes with a designated early years practitioner, and a ratio of only eight children to each member of staff.

My child started at the end of April and was immediately settled. He has been to two settings previously and even after months in one and years in the other, he would still be tearful on drop-off sometimes. From day 1, my child has been happy to go into Children 1st @ Shepshed! The staff are so welcoming
and the environment is nurturing and stimulating. Although my child was only used to being in a setting part-time, he has settled in brilliantly into a full-time place within this setting thanks to the supportive staff and the exciting child-centred indoor and outdoor spaces.

My son has really enjoyed his first couple of months at Nursery. He has really developed his skills and we have no problems in dropping him off each morning. It looks like he has made good friends with the staff and also the other children in his group. We are really happy with everything.

Fantastic nursery - my son is safe, happy and learns new things every day. Staff are fantastic and do a huge variety of activities with the children. Nothing is too much trouble. Healthy food provided, good, stable routines in place and staff who listen to parents and work with them.

Both of our children have attended Children 1st in Shepshed and we have been happy with the care and facilities the nursery has provided. The staff, in general, are approachable and helpful. The facilities are good, well looked after and seem to be renewed and updated often, both of our boys have especially
enjoyed playing and working on the computers. The outside space is fantastic and is what sold the nursery to us, such a large open space with lots of activities to keep the children entertained whatever the weather. Children's 1st first in Shepshed is a good nursery and one that we have recommended and would again in the future.

Lovely, friendly nursery. Staff are approachable and take your child under their wing.
My son and daughter have both been to this nursery and have both loved it. They have a different theme every week, last week it was space themed and we built a rocket at home to take in. My daughter is always coming
home with artwork that she's created. The EY log is also a wonderful aspect, being able to have a look what she's been up to today and talking to her about it. She's truly blossomed into a wonderful, clever little girl who is very confident at making new friendships. I have no concerns to her heading into school thanks to the help of children first Shepshed. Thank you

My little girl has been at this nursery full time since she was 8 months old. We love it and more importantly, she loves it. The staff are fantastic and they are with us every step of the way encouraging and assisting in her development. The things she has learned surprises me sometimes! I would 100%

My daughter has been attending Children 1st Shepshed since she was 9 months old. She settled very quickly and has always been happy to be left there. She's developing very well and loves the activities during the day. She eats all her meals and continues to be open to new foods at home. I love the app
which is updated regularly with her daily activities. The staff are always happy and enthusiastic and very well informed on the day's events. Any issues we have had have been dealt with quickly, discreetly and professionally by the management team. We're very happy with the level of care provided and have total peace of mind throughout the day!

My son has attended children 1st @ Shepshed since he was 9 months old. Throughout his time at nursery, he has grown and developed into the wonderful boy he is today. This is with help from the welcoming, trustworthy and dedicated staff who always make sure that your child and you feel at ease in their
home from home environment.
They provide excellent care and have a wonderful range of activities helping the children to learn and be the best that they can be.
I would definitely recommend Children1st @ Shepshed for parents wanting quality care for their children.

A fabulous team, who have been wonderfully supportive in caring for my diabetic son. They have attended training to learn how to deal with his complex needs and implemented what they have learnt with great success. I can not praise them highly enough. Each day my son attends I trust them with his life
and am 100% confident that he is safe.

This nursery is by far the best nursery in Shepshed, I wish I had sent my oldest here too! My daughter loves coming to nursery and playing with her friends, she's always got lots to tell me when I pick her up. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming too!

The staff are brill. They always update me on everything, remind me of school holidays and if I need to book him in.
The facility is wonderful also really clean modern loads for the children to do. They are really flexible and helpful. I feel really confident in their service.


The girls also have

had to stay late on numerous occasions they never make me feel bad or hassle me (I already feel bad) I always turn up to happy friendly girls.
They are also very understanding and supportive.


I am a single working mother and I have had my son in 3 different establishments and none have come close I am so happy with the service, staff and facility. I constantly tell people.... sad I know.


I also would love to attend myself if only to go down that slide or have a go in the soft play :)

My eldest son, 3, has attended for two and a half years and we have always felt he is looked after in the best way. He has learnt a lot in his time at nursery and enjoys going. We as a family have built a great relationship with staff and management. My youngest son, 10 months, has just started at the
nursery and has settled in really well. He goes into nursery happy and smiley and leaves the same. The staff are all very professional!!

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2006

Hi, my name is Amy Sharpe and I am the Nursery Manager at Children 1st @ Shepshed. I have worked for Children 1st @ Shepshed since the company took over the nursery I had worked at for 4 years in April 2010. I have had experience in all of the age groups throughout my career but found my passion was the Early Years age group. I worked as the Early Years Practitioner in the nursery for 3 years before being given the opportunity for the position as Deputy Manager. I still enjoy spending lots of time doing activities with the children in all of the different age groups in nursery. I have completed my degree, which I worked towards alongside working at nursery. I enjoy horse-riding lessons at the weekend and can usually be found with my nose in a book when at home!
