Children 1st Shepshed Nursery School is situated near the centre of Shepshed, close to the M1. The nursery has been refurbished throughout; with bright, open areas for babies, toddlers, early years and out-of-school children, from birth to 12-years-old.

The friendly, enthusiastic staff are all fully trained and very experienced, and child to staff ratios are even lower than Ofsted requirements.

Outside there is a garden designed to maximise the potential for outdoor play, and children are encouraged to choose their own activity with a huge variety of options both in and outside.

The nursery offers funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4 year olds.

A fantastic nursery school environment, with the added care and attention that comes with a designated early years practitioner, and a ratio of only eight children to each member of staff.

Our daughter has been at this nursery since the age of 6 months, she is one years old now. Her development has been vast, she was walking at the age of 11 months. The care and encouragement our daughter receives at the nursery is fantastic. Our daughter really enjoys her time with the team. Thank you.

Staff are very professional whilst being lovely and always having a good sense of humour. They consistently make an effort to make things as special / memorable as possible i.e. Christmas plays / graduations / Santa's grotto. The kids love the food. The kids always say they enjoy their days there. We
were unsure about moving our eldest when we moved house but it was the best decision we could have made.

My little girl started at Children First @ Shepshed nursery in April. I was really nervous about leaving her in someone else’s care and going back to work. Everyone that works at the nursery is wonderful, so kind, friendly and thoughtful. They were really accommodating and followed our home routine
with naps and meals. I love all the art and biscuits my daughter has made and brought home. I love seeing photo updates of what she’s been doing at nursery. She’s become so much more confident and learnt new skills and words. Made new friends. The nursery is always clean. I’m really impressed with all of the learning resources available to the children. Fresh healthy meals cooked on site. Lovely outside play area.

My son absolutely loves coming to nursery and has made friends there. He’s built really good relationships with his key workers and his speech is really developing quickly.
There are so many activities for the children and so many that I couldn’t do at home so this is really beneficial for him.

My 2 year old has been here since she was 9 months old and has loved every minute. Amazing facilities, the food provided is great, kind, friendly and caring staff, you couldn’t want more from a nursery. My daughter turns 2 in July and can already name all the colours, count to nearly 20, hold a pencil
properly, the list goes on. She has really thrived.

Both our boys attend nursery. Our oldest child is in Early Years and our youngest is in the baby room. We couldn’t ask for a more welcoming, friendly and helpful nursery who have been incredibly accommodating during some very difficult times when our youngest son was born.
Both our children receive
great care and stimulating activities in their rooms. The adults working with the children are fantastic.
In the baby room, our youngest son’s key worker is incredible. She knows him so so well and looks after his every need. The nursery has recently had some new resources too and they have been so engaging and stimulating for our boy.
In Early Years - our oldest son enjoys a range of brilliant activities across a huge upstairs space and also enjoys regularly going outside and exploring the many play areas outside. He is well supported by the adults in his room and when we pick him up he always has a smile on his face.
We couldn’t be happier with the care and support our boys get.

We are extremely grateful for Children 1st in Shepshed. Our son settled very quickly and has been happy to attend without fuss ever since. The staff there are lovely and the facilities are fab. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone or use it again.

This nursery is absolutely amazing. My daughter loves every staff member and she is really well nurtured. She is leaving now for a big school but we would be back in a heartbeat. Everyone is so friendly and caring we couldn't wish for a better experience.

Seen a remarkable improvement in my little one, was progressing very well in the previous room but moved up to the next room just before walking and her confidence grew and grew.

Honestly couldn’t ask for anything more in a nursery.
My little boy has been going here for 2 months now after moving away from family and friends and his old nursery which he’d gone to since being a baby. He settled in straight away, he’s made friends, loves going in on his nursery days and loves
all of his nursery ladies.
The facilities are amazing. There is so much for him to do and explore both inside and out. Can’t recommend them enough.
Honestly I had a little boy who did not want to learn to use the potty and within a week with their support he was pretty much fully potty trained.
Would wholeheartedly recommend them.
The entire staff are just so friendly and welcoming you instantly feel comfortable.

This is the second child that I have sent to this nursery. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The facilities are amazing. I know when I leave my baby there they’re well looked after. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are amazing. My baby loves it and I’d recommend the nursery.

Wonderful nursery with great facilities and lovely friendly staff. My only issue is the lack of transparency about moving between the rooms, different staff give different answers when you ask when they will move to the next room and different rules appear to apply to different children. I would however

We have been blown away by how fantastic this nursery is. The staff are enthusiastic, helpful and caring. The facilities indoors and outdoors are incredible. After only one session, our son felt safe and happy to attend thanks to the amazing staff. We feel he is going to thrive in this setting!

Absolutely fantastic nursery! My child loves going here and the staff are amazing with him. After a bad experience with another nursery, I switched to Children 1st @ Shepshed and it was the best decision I have made. My son has come on leaps and bounds.

The most friendly staff. My daughter loves her time at nursery and her transition to early learning could not of been easier. The nursery even took the time to hold an open night so they could show us the early learning floor and discuss what our children would be doing. So good I even recommended them

Really pleased with the whole team and still getting used to everyone and my little one being in care of children first. Pleased with everything so far. No real complaints but would like to see more pictures and updates on little ones day to day and progress as this seems to be inconsistent. But so

This is a fantastic nursery. My son has been attending for over a year now and his speech and confidence has grown. He has made a lot of friends and has a good relationship with the teachers. They learn something new every day and I love that they play outside in the fresh air which I think is extremely
important.

My son really enjoys his time at nursery, I am always updated of the exciting activities he takes part in and I love to see the photos which they include with a small write up of what they have been up to as well as their development. My little boy can sometimes be unsettled when going in, however,
they make him welcome and give him the comfort he needs and after this he’s fine. He will also come running out of nursery with a big smile on his face. All the staff are very friendly and will answer any questions. My son had came on leaps and bounds since attending and will always be saying lots of new words after he has been for a session at nursery. The girls go above and beyond and provide excellent care for my child and I’m not worried when he’s in their care. I love the small details including the bag/nursery rhyme book and the daily diary which is now online. This helps when my partner picks up as I know what he’s exactly eaten and slept.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2006

Hi, my name is Amy Sharpe and I am the Nursery Manager at Children 1st @ Shepshed. I have worked for Children 1st @ Shepshed since the company took over the nursery I had worked at for 4 years in April 2010. I have had experience in all of the age groups throughout my career but found my passion was the Early Years age group. I worked as the Early Years Practitioner in the nursery for 3 years before being given the opportunity for the position as Deputy Manager. I still enjoy spending lots of time doing activities with the children in all of the different age groups in nursery. I have completed my degree, which I worked towards alongside working at nursery. I enjoy horse-riding lessons at the weekend and can usually be found with my nose in a book when at home!
