Children 1st Shepshed Nursery School is situated near the centre of Shepshed, close to the M1. The nursery has been refurbished throughout; with bright, open areas for babies, toddlers, early years and out-of-school children, from birth to 12-years-old.

The friendly, enthusiastic staff are all fully trained and very experienced, and child to staff ratios are even lower than Ofsted requirements.

Outside there is a garden designed to maximise the potential for outdoor play, and children are encouraged to choose their own activity with a huge variety of options both in and outside.

The nursery offers funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4 year olds.

A fantastic nursery school environment, with the added care and attention that comes with a designated early years practitioner, and a ratio of only eight children to each member of staff.

Honestly couldn’t ask for anything more in a nursery.
My little boy has been going here for 2 months now after moving away from family and friends and his old nursery which he’d gone to since being a baby. He settled in straight away, he’s made friends, loves going in on his nursery days and loves
all of his nursery ladies.
The facilities are amazing. There is so much for him to do and explore both inside and out. Can’t recommend them enough.
Honestly I had a little boy who did not want to learn to use the potty and within a week with their support he was pretty much fully potty trained.
Would wholeheartedly recommend them.
The entire staff are just so friendly and welcoming you instantly feel comfortable.

This is the second child that I have sent to this nursery. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The facilities are amazing. I know when I leave my baby there they’re well looked after. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are amazing. My baby loves it and I’d recommend the nursery.

Wonderful nursery with great facilities and lovely friendly staff. My only issue is the lack of transparency about moving between the rooms, different staff give different answers when you ask when they will move to the next room and different rules appear to apply to different children. I would however
highly recommend this nursery to everyone.

We have been blown away by how fantastic this nursery is. The staff are enthusiastic, helpful and caring. The facilities indoors and outdoors are incredible. After only one session, our son felt safe and happy to attend thanks to the amazing staff. We feel he is going to thrive in this setting!

Absolutely fantastic nursery! My child loves going here and the staff are amazing with him. After a bad experience with another nursery, I switched to Children 1st @ Shepshed and it was the best decision I have made. My son has come on leaps and bounds.

The most friendly staff. My daughter loves her time at nursery and her transition to early learning could not of been easier. The nursery even took the time to hold an open night so they could show us the early learning floor and discuss what our children would be doing. So good I even recommended them
to my sister!

Really pleased with the whole team and still getting used to everyone and my little one being in care of children first. Pleased with everything so far. No real complaints but would like to see more pictures and updates on little ones day to day and progress as this seems to be inconsistent. But so
impressed and happy when updates do come through. My little one has a lovely relationship with the staff and it's so reassuring to see.

This is a fantastic nursery. My son has been attending for over a year now and his speech and confidence has grown. He has made a lot of friends and has a good relationship with the teachers. They learn something new every day and I love that they play outside in the fresh air which I think is extremely
important.
All the staff are absolutely excellent, very friendly and welcoming.
I just cannot speak highly enough of the nursery!

My son really enjoys his time at nursery, I am always updated of the exciting activities he takes part in and I love to see the photos which they include with a small write up of what they have been up to as well as their development. My little boy can sometimes be unsettled when going in, however,
they make him welcome and give him the comfort he needs and after this he’s fine. He will also come running out of nursery with a big smile on his face. All the staff are very friendly and will answer any questions. My son had came on leaps and bounds since attending and will always be saying lots of new words after he has been for a session at nursery. The girls go above and beyond and provide excellent care for my child and I’m not worried when he’s in their care. I love the small details including the bag/nursery rhyme book and the daily diary which is now online. This helps when my partner picks up as I know what he’s exactly eaten and slept.

Excellent service. Staff are always welcoming and friendly. My daughter loves attending, she can't wait to get through the door.
Due to living in a first floor flat with no garden, it's an ideal nursery as the outdoor space and facilities suit my daughter perfectly.

My boy loves nursery. He has the best time: filled with activities, play and education. If he has had an accident I'm always in the loop and I fully appreciate the dedication of the staff. Worth every penny!

My 19-month-old has only been at the nursery for three weeks now and has settled so well. Since being at this nursery I feel there has been a positive change, I feel he is more independent. My little one is a fussy eater at home but at nursery he seems to eat well which is a bonus. Happy with the feedback
I get with him. Nursery always keeps parents updated with any changes and important information. Love the app that is used too.

We have two children that attend Children's 1st @ Shepshed and we cannot recommend them enough! It is the most welcoming, professional, approachable and friendly setting that we could wish for, nothing is ever too much hassle. As soon as the lovely ladies open the doors in the morning, it's smiles,
happy conversation and little cuddles to transition them from us into them for the day. They both come out full of laughter, stories and life having learned new things! They have a vast indoor and outdoor space with multiple areas to play in, explore, develop and learn. Our children bring home many pictures, paintings and models they have made which demonstrates the connection and interaction the staff has with them. They also put on an array of themes and activities which include dress-up days! The app is brilliant! It allows us to get daily updates and pictures as well as messages to keep us up to speed with what's going on. The nursery has also been consistently supportive and understanding during the pandemic.

Every morning our son is greeted by the nursery's administrator who makes him feel safe, smile and most importantly, cares for him as though he is her own - because of this we have never had tears when leaving him, it's normally the other way round when he doesn't want to leave nursery! Our son toddles
through to his room where he equally has the best nursery teacher's who love and support him so much. He has developed incredibly since being at nursery and it's them who we thank for that! The pictures/comments we receive on the app honestly make our day, I love seeing what he is up to and his little smile! All staff involved in our son's care have been amazing from day one (even the food choices!), we have never once felt disappointed. Thank you to the nursery manager and administrator who have always gone above and beyond when we've needed extra support etc. We are so thankful for Children 1st @ Shepshed!

Children’s First Shepshed is a fantastic nursery. Our son loves it there. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and make my boy feel cared for. I love all of the activities that they have had on recently such as scooter day. I enjoy looking at eyLog to see what he has been getting up to at nursery.

This is an outstanding nursery and I can’t recommend it highly enough! The staff are very professional and friendly, the premises are very well maintained and clean. Food is cooked on-site and there is a great variety. The children have a wide range of activities both inside and outside and everything
they do is geared towards constantly learning and developing. Our children have both been very happy here and we have been very happy with the staff, the running of the nursery and with the support, learning and opportunities offered to our children. This year, the nursery has been consistently supportive and understanding during the pandemic. They’ve implemented new processes and have been extremely reasonable with fees. We couldn’t have asked for more.

The staff are always so good with my daughter, she gets so excited to go to "Shree" as she calls it. Her development since going to nursery is outstanding, she is much more friendly and expressive within herself. I can't praise the ladies enough with my daughter. Going to nursery is her favourite part
of the week, she throws herself into the girls' arms in the morning happily. I love it. Also, the measurements they have taken to ensure safety during Covid-19 has me completely at ease knowing my daughter is safe.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2006

Hi, my name is Amy Sharpe and I am the Nursery Manager at Children 1st @ Shepshed. I have worked for Children 1st @ Shepshed since the company took over the nursery I had worked at for 4 years in April 2010. I have had experience in all of the age groups throughout my career but found my passion was the Early Years age group. I worked as the Early Years Practitioner in the nursery for 3 years before being given the opportunity for the position as Deputy Manager. I still enjoy spending lots of time doing activities with the children in all of the different age groups in nursery. I have completed my degree, which I worked towards alongside working at nursery. I enjoy horse-riding lessons at the weekend and can usually be found with my nose in a book when at home!
