Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The purpose-built, single-level nursery provides five separate rooms: a baby room, toddler room, two nurseries and Preschool. All the rooms are bright and airy with plenty of natural light and access to outside areas.

A beautifully refurbished adventure garden is divided into three play areas designed to support each particular age group. Each area provides lots of space for physical development and opportunities for children to develop an interest in nature and the world around them.

Experienced, qualified staff ensure the children are cared for throughout their nursery journey and 90% of staff are qualified to Level 3 or above and regularly trained. The nursery's own supply team cover staff holidays and sickness.

The nursery provides excellent opportunities for partnership with parents through parents' evenings, forums and regular 'stay and play' sessions. Policies and procedures are designed to give parents confidence in the safe and stimulating environment provided.

Their unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative and well established Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

The nursery is within the catchment area of Richmond Primary School and other local schools that children progress to include Battling Brook Primary School.

The nursery was rated 'Good' by Ofsted in July 2022.

From the moment you walk in the door you know that this is different to any other nursery. The staff always take an interest and speak. Once in the baby room, again all staff are extremely friendly. I am 100% that my son will be well looked after and taken care of. All of his needs are well considered.
Feedback between staff and parents is great. They give you a great picture of what the children have been up to. Meals are great too! Even with intolerances my child gets a varied and interesting menu.

My daughter started after settling in sessions in Nov 15. She did not settle well and then due to 2 wks illness followed by the Christmas shut down set her back again. I decided to give notice and then the team decided to change tact with her key worker, that she would not be the one to take her from
me on drop off. This seemed to improve things quickly, she was settling so I withdrew my notice. After a few weeks she moved up to the next room and she is so much happier. Even they said she is like a different child to her settling in sessions for the room change. She now loves all the activities including painting and has so much fun in the new playground. I am looking forward to seeing my daughter flourish now as she develops her talking.

Very informative, nurturing and knowledgeable staff. There are two key workers fantastic at their job. All staff know both my girls by name. Both daughters love their time at nursery. New garden is fab! lots for children and babies to do. Windmill is all about the children and their development.

My granddaughter has been at Windmill for one year. The staff have worked with her in so many ways, that I can not fault them. Play, letters, numbers, friendship and kindness are all incorporated. We have seen a rather shy only child, grow in confidence and knowledge. On Easter Monday my granddaughter
was diagnosed with type one diabetes, an enormous lifestyle change. The nursery staff and the diabetes team worked with us to ensure my granddaughters nursery experience was as good as it could be. Plus the way they are preparing the children for big school in September is super!

All the staff are very welcoming. Our son was introduced gradually and formed a great bond with his key person. He enjoys the food, and always eats well. He has definitely become more sociable as a result of attending nursery and he is now more inquisitive, his hand eye coordination is better and is
verbalising more. Thanks.

My daughter has been attending the nursery since February 2015. All the staff that have come into contact with her have been very supportive as my daughter took a couple of week to settle in. Since then she has moved rooms and the staff did this brilliantly, ensuring that the transition went well. She
has formed some solid friendships with both staff and other toddlers. Very pleased all round.

Windmill Day Nursery is an extremely friendly and amazing nursery. Since my child has been here she has improved in every aspect - her language is great and she can socialise very well. I believe this is a credit to the staff, they build such great trusting relationships with the children and really
put everything into their job. I have no complaints at all with the nursery and highly recommend this to anyone no matter how old the child is.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.463)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.463) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.567 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 104 number of registered child places is 20.8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 20.8 = 0.192
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Assistant Manager

I have worked at Bright Horizons Hinckley since 1996 where during my time I have gradually worked my way from a nursery nurse to my current position of Assistant Manager.

Throughout these years I have worked with all age groups enjoying seeing how the children all develop differently and gain their own interests.

As part of my role, I enjoy not knowing what each day will bring, it's always a mystery! Above all, I enjoy seeing the children laugh and smile each day.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Since joining the team in 2013, Sadie has gained a wealth of experience following her college graduation. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to work in all the rooms, spending five years in the 18-30-month room before transitioning to the baby room as the room leader. Most recently, she stepped up as third in charge and is now the deputy.

She takes great joy in watching children grow and thrive during their time at the nursery, especially as the early years are such a crucial period for development.
