Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The purpose-built, single-level nursery provides five separate rooms: a baby room, toddler room, two nurseries and Preschool. All the rooms are bright and airy with plenty of natural light and access to outside areas.

A beautifully refurbished adventure garden is divided into three play areas designed to support each particular age group. Each area provides lots of space for physical development and opportunities for children to develop an interest in nature and the world around them.

Experienced, qualified staff ensure the children are cared for throughout their nursery journey and 90% of staff are qualified to Level 3 or above and regularly trained. The nursery's own supply team cover staff holidays and sickness.

The nursery provides excellent opportunities for partnership with parents through parents' evenings, forums and regular 'stay and play' sessions. Policies and procedures are designed to give parents confidence in the safe and stimulating environment provided.

Their unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative and well established Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

The nursery is within the catchment area of Richmond Primary School and other local schools that children progress to include Battling Brook Primary School.

The nursery was rated 'Good' by Ofsted in July 2022.

Windmill Nursery is an excellent nursery and I would highly recommend it. The staff are friendly and spend a lot of time getting know their key children. The facilities are great and they have a fantastic outdoor space for children to explore and learn. My son is currently in the pre-school room and
they are doing a brilliant job at preparing the children for school. The opening hours a brilliant too and they open earlier than most nurseries, at 7:30 and pick up time can be any time up until 6:30 in the evening.

My child has always had fantastic care at Windmill. I have always felt assured that they are receiving the best care possible as well as nurturing them in their development. My daughter is always keen to go into nursery every day and has bonded well with her key worker. The communication between nursery
and home is great and I do not have a bad word to say. I am always kept informed of any changes and feel confident in leaving her.

Thank you to all the staff in the baby room and throughout the nursery for helping to settle my daughter. As a parent, it was hard to go back to work and leave my baby but knowing she is in good caring hands has made it easier. Also, the daily feedback and looking through her learning journal has made
it better for myself and partner and lets us know how happy she is.

My niece goes to this brilliant nursery and I have been to collect her a few times. There is always so much going on and the environment looks so inviting with lots of activities. My niece always talks about what she has been doing and the friends she has played with. The staff are so inviting and make
the effort to make you feel welcome. I would highly recommend this nursery.

My older son has been attending the nursery for the last 3 years and we both love it. My younger son also goes there and he has bonded with the staff, even before he started to attend. The staff are very friendly, professional and attentive to children's needs. The facility is maintained well and the
new garden is just amazing. I could not imagine my children in a different nursery.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.463)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.463) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.567 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 104 number of registered child places is 20.8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 20.8 = 0.192
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Assistant Manager

I have worked at Bright Horizons Hinckley since 1996 where during my time I have gradually worked my way from a nursery nurse to my current position of Assistant Manager.

Throughout these years I have worked with all age groups enjoying seeing how the children all develop differently and gain their own interests.

As part of my role, I enjoy not knowing what each day will bring, it's always a mystery! Above all, I enjoy seeing the children laugh and smile each day.

Since joining the team in 2013, Sadie has gained a wealth of experience following her college graduation. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to work in all the rooms, spending five years in the 18-30-month room before transitioning to the baby room as the room leader. Most recently, she stepped up as third in charge and is now the deputy.

She takes great joy in watching children grow and thrive during their time at the nursery, especially as the early years are such a crucial period for development.
