  • Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool, Hinckley
Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool provides high-quality care and education for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The purpose-built, single-level nursery provides five separate rooms: a baby room, toddler room, two nurseries and Preschool. All the rooms are bright and airy with plenty of natural light and access to outside areas.

A beautifully refurbished adventure garden is divided into three play areas designed to support each particular age group. Each area provides lots of space for physical development and opportunities for children to develop an interest in nature and the world around them.

Experienced, qualified staff ensure the children are cared for throughout their nursery journey and 90% of staff are qualified to Level 3 or above and regularly trained. The nursery's own supply team cover staff holidays and sickness.

The nursery provides excellent opportunities for partnership with parents through parents' evenings, forums and regular 'stay and play' sessions. Policies and procedures are designed to give parents confidence in the safe and stimulating environment provided.

Their unique Healthy Hearts and Minds activities provide inspirational and engaging learning experiences using the innovative and well established Boogie Mites and myHappymind programmes.

An enriching Ready for School programme gives every child the opportunity to gain knowledge and confidence to thrive in school and beyond.

The nursery is within the catchment area of Richmond Primary School and other local schools that children progress to include Battling Brook Primary School.

The nursery was rated 'Good' by Ofsted in July 2022.

Our daughter loves attending nursery. She only attends one day a week but now asks to come more. We can see how much she has developed just from one day. Its great to see updates in the learning book and for us as parents make us feel comfortable that she is enjoying herself.

The settling in process has been so thorough and gentle. Both my son and I were nervous and upset to start with but the team in the baby room have been amazing. They've been so understanding of both our needs and they've worked hard to create a bond with my son that means he is comfortable here and
can be settled when he misses mummy. Thank you so much for everything! I know our son will be very well looked after, fully engaged in what he's doing and will have the best start in life here.

Our little boy loves attending Windmill. The staff are all incredibly caring and always take an interest in each child's development. The outside space is also excellent and the children spend a lot of time outside when the weather allows.

We are very happy with Windmill Nursery. My daughter settled in in no time, she seems to love her key worker and the other staff members as well.
Her food allergy is very well managed and there has never been any incidents. She doesn't want to leave when I come to pick her up. She loves it.

My daughter has attended Windmill Day Nursery since she was 8 months old and has received excellent care and education throughout each room. She is now in nursery 1 and my daughter has come on leaps and bounds. They have been amazing with toilet training and her language is continuing to develop well.
Thank
you Windmill.

Really happy with how my child is treated at Windmill Nursery. The staff are always welcoming and happy to listen to concerns a parent has about their child. They are always going over and above to help the parents and child feel the nursery was the right choice.

In May we welcomed a sone and my daughter was moving from toddler to nursery 1 at the time. Her keyworker was brilliant during this, helping her understand her baby brother and using dolls more when playing! She loves the nursery and we feel it helps her progress so well.

My son has started at Asquith Windmill Pre-School & Day Nursery recently and has settled in amazingly well. We are less than a month in and already have no tears at drop off! All the staff have been great, really reassuring and give me good detail about his day when I pick him up.

I have always been impressed by the standard of care my sons receive. The staff are so friendly and both my sons have great relationships with their key persons. The staff are great at helping with any issues that arise and I wish we could effort more time slots for them to attend.

Overall, we are very pleased with the care Asquith Windmill Pre-School & Day Nursery has provided. Our son has flourished in the seven months he has attended. The children's welfare is clearly their priority (they make sure the slide is not too hot to use!).

A little more advanced notification of

events would be appreciated (not 3 days).

Its a shame they do not accept 2-year-old funding or our sone would be attending a second day.

Overall I have been really happy to send my child to this nursery. Staff are brilliant with him and I have felt at complete ease with leaving him there.
The only criticism I have is with the nursery "government" funding. I have found it difficult to understand why it costs so much with the "15 hours
free" which clearly doesn't work out "15 hours free".
Very little explanation how this works,

My son is about to graduate after 3 years of being at Windmill. I only have positive things to say. My son is full time and the staff have been amazing in every room. They have helped him to grow and learn. The staff keep me aware of everything and are only professional and caring. The most amazing
place for children to develop.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.463)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.463) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.896 for Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.896
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.567 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Hinckley Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 104 number of registered child places is 20.8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 20.8 = 0.192
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Assistant Manager

I have worked at Bright Horizons Hinckley since 1996 where during my time I have gradually worked my way from a nursery nurse to my current position of Assistant Manager.

Throughout these years I have worked with all age groups enjoying seeing how the children all develop differently and gain their own interests.

As part of my role, I enjoy not knowing what each day will bring, it's always a mystery! Above all, I enjoy seeing the children laugh and smile each day.
