Ashby Nursery School & Pre-school Academy was architecturally designed and purpose-built as a Children’s Day Nursery in 1996, having a simple philosophy of continually aiming to offer the highest levels of childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

One of the nursery’s more important features is its policy of only employing fully qualified nursery officers, who all hold a childcare qualification and also have a First Aid and Food Hygiene qualification alongside other professional qualifications.

The nursery also provides three balanced meals freshly prepared each day, including breakfast which is offered to all children arriving before 8.45am. They are members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, the National Day Nurseries Association and other childcare related associations.

It is a great responsibility to care for children, and therefore their aim is to offer the highest levels of nursery care they possibly can. The owners hope their Prospectus goes some way to illustrate this; however should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact.

Love this nursery! The staff are amazing. My little boy had some anxieties about starting nursery, and they did everything they could to help him settle in. I would and have recommended this nursery to friends and family couldn’t ask for better.

My daughter has had a wonderful time at nursery and developed into an amazing individual as a result. The love and support given by all nursery staff has been exceptional. Well what can I say about this nursery, words don't say how amazing this nursery is. Also the staff are like family. My little boy went here until he was really for school, also his brother went here and now my other child goes here. I would recommend this nursery all day long, I also have a number
of my friend's children that go here. This is not about your children going to nursery, it's about your children being happy and my children have always been happy going here. If you want your children in a safe place and to be happy and loved, I would definitely send them here.

I am so very happy that I have sent my children to Ashby Day. The atmosphere as soon as you walk in is like a home from home for the children and when the children leave I think I will be genuinely sad that I don't have a reason to go any more! The staff are lovely and brilliant at what they do. I know
that my children feel loved and supported the moment they walk through the doors. Both of my children love going to nursery and get so much out of going, it is such a nurturing environment and they are both progressing really well in their different rooms. They have been fabulous in supporting my little boy who has some motor issues. The support received in this area has been fantastic from all staff involved, especially the SENCO and his keyworker. They really have gone the extra mile to make sure he progresses as he should and been supportive to us as parents too. All in all, it is a great day nursery and I am so glad we picked it.

The nursery is brilliant. My son has been attending for 1 year doing 3 mornings a week. When started he was behind in his development but his key worker has worked amazingly with him and he has made massive progress. All staff are lovely and they care for all children's individual needs and work alongside
parents. The management team are great and always there to speak to if needed. I would highly recommend this nursery.

My daughter started Ashby Day Nursery when she was 6 months old, the staff and management were very helpful and amazing with my daughter, they demonstrated amazing knowledge of childcare and were very friendly with her which put me at ease because she was still very young. Staff are always welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for the children or the parents. They have gone over and above expectations on many occasions for me and my children. What I find especially unique is that staff talk to me as a parent about my child as I would when sharing their experiences.
They are genuinely excited about the children’s achievements or things that’s they’ve shared with them.
I do and would have no hesitation in recommending Ashby Day Nursery to friends and family.

My eldest left this nursery 18 months ago when he started school and my youngest (3 years old) attends there now since he was 9 months old.


The staff care for the children brilliantly and they go above and beyond to enable the children to reach their full potential. The activities laid out every

morning change regularly and the craft/messy play activities are brilliant too. Staff-parent communication is good with a handover at the end of the day.


It really does feel like a family there and when I drop off my child in the morning, I know he’ll have a great day and be well-cared for.

Both my children have attended Ashby Day Nursery a couple of days each week from the age of one onwards. We all love the nursery and the staff, and I'm so glad we made the choice we did.


My son is currently in his final year at the nursery, during his time there it's gradually become apparent that

he has needs above and beyond those of a 'typical' child of his age. The nursery have helped us so much through our journey, doing so much to ensure my son is accepted, included and happy. They've also helped me understand our options and explore the additional help available to us.


We're eternally grateful to the nursey and could not recommend a better place for your child to learn and grow.

My son 18 months loves going to Ashby Day Nursery, the staff are all professional, efficient, caring and compassionate and I feel reassured that he is in the best possible place. The nursery has a lovely relaxed and happy atmosphere and all the staff seem to genuinely love their jobs and love looking
after the children. All the staff seem to know my child's name, even the ones not in the baby room where he is looked after and we always receive a warm welcome every time we visit. My son enjoys a range of activities whilst at nursery including messy play, arts and craft, story time and music and movement. He also loves the food there as it is all homemade, he loves it so much that I have to ask for the recipes so that I can make the same meals for him at home. My son loves nursery and he is becoming a more and more confident little boy and I know this is due to the wonderful nurturing environment of the nursery and all the staff who look after him.

My son loves nursery, his speech and all areas of development have improved massively since he started a few months ago. He loves to go and gets so excited. My daughter really enjoys her days at Ashby Day Nursery, all the staff seem to know all of the children, no matter what room they are in and she always gets a big hug from one of the staff on arrival which is lovely. I especially like the fact that the children play outside, no matter the weather.

Our son has been at Ashby Day Nursery since 2016 as a 1 year old and is now in the pre-school 2 room ready to start school later this year.
We selected this nursery as a home from home setting and it certainly hasn't disappointed! Our son has been really happy here and the staff in each room really
care about the children. They really take the time to get to know the children and what makes them happy. We would totally recommend this nursery as it provides lots of variety and opportunity for learning but leaves in the most important element of fun!

I am very pleased with the level of care given to my two children (3 and 1) at Ashby Day Nursery. The staff are approachable, friendly and take excellent care of my children. They are always available to have a little chat at the end of the day and you receive a daily report with further information.
The activities in the rooms always look well thought out, with different areas for learning - creative, construction, role play etc. They also offer Forest School for the older children. My children have come on so much since they started attending here and I would highly recommend it.

Really friendly and welcoming staff. They always go above and beyond to help where they can. They run many events outside nursery time to raise money for charity and to develop connections with the wider community.
Good communication with parents with a daily email. You always get detailed feedback
about your child's day on pick up.
Activities are varied and creative and our daughter has really come on really well and has made lots of friends and enjoys going to nursery.

An absolutely fantastic nursery, which is well managed with extremely caring and knowledgable staff who take the time and effort to get to know each child and their family. All of the staff are very friendly, welcoming, and go above and beyond to be flexible and accommodating. My son loves attending
this nursery and talks about the staff like family. He loves all the activities that take place, like going to Forest School or being able to colour and draw when he wants.

Kerry

Kerry Nettel

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2008

Kerry began working at Ashby Nursery School 15 years ago after completing her student placement there. She gained her foundation degree in Children’s and Young People’s Services (Early Years) and worked her way up to nursery manager. Kerry also has a Forest School qualification and loves being outdoors. Kerry encourages the team to adopt a hands-on approach, as she feels that this is the best way for children to learn.


In 2022, Kerry was awarded Nursery Practitioner of the Year at the NMT awards which was one of many highlights of her career so far.
