Ashby Nursery School & Pre-school Academy was architecturally designed and purpose-built as a Children’s Day Nursery in 1996, having a simple philosophy of continually aiming to offer the highest levels of childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

One of the nursery’s more important features is its policy of only employing fully qualified nursery officers, who all hold a childcare qualification and also have a First Aid and Food Hygiene qualification alongside other professional qualifications.

The nursery also provides three balanced meals freshly prepared each day, including breakfast which is offered to all children arriving before 8.45am. They are members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance, the National Day Nurseries Association and other childcare related associations.

It is a great responsibility to care for children, and therefore their aim is to offer the highest levels of nursery care they possibly can. The owners hope their Prospectus goes some way to illustrate this; however should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact.

Ashby Day Nursery have been wonderful for our child. Her development continues to be great and she comes home singing songs she's learned and telling us about her friends. The atmosphere is so calm and the kids are all encouraged to be kind to each other. The menu is varied, so we feel like she gets
to try lots of foods. Gave 4 not 5 stars because I would rather still get meals listed in the app, which they stop at toddler 2. But that's not a huge deal, they still tell you what they ate during the handover.

My child has been at the nursery since May 2025 and I've honestly never had to worry about them being there, the staff are incredible, the nursery itself is amazing and so well organised and the staff are so professional but also so caring to the children. I'd recommend it to anyone

My daughter is 10 months old and I was so nervous about going back to work and her being in a nursury. But they have been amazing with her, they send photos, and regularly update the app. If you have any issues they quickly resolve them. They are a great team and my daughter loves nursury. She goes
in smiling and comes out laughing.

My son has attended this nursery since he was 6 months old. And is moving up to the toddler rooms soon. The staff in baby room 1&2 are great and he is very happy there. Lots of different activities for them to do. App is kept up to date and handovers at the end of the day tell me everything I need
to know. Also until 6pm is included in their standard day price so this makes pick ups easier when things don't go to plan and alot of nurseries charge extra for this last 30 mins.

I honestly can't recommend this nursery highly enough! My son started in March 2025 and we haven't had a single issue. He is absolutely thriving, constantly learning new things and it's clear how much he enjoys being there with all the wonderful staff.
Every team member is amazing: loving, caring,
and genuinely dedicated. I feel completely at ease leaving him in their care each day. I was so nervous about starting a new job and putting my first baby into nursery, but they reassured me from the very first settling-in session. It was such a relief to know he was happy and safe, which made returning to work so much easier.
Communication has always been excellent, and the nursery is run to an exceptional standard. You've created such a safe, supportive environment, and I can't thank you enough for the outstanding care you provide. Keep up the fantastic work!

Outstanding care at Ashby day nursery. Our son has boundless energy, and the entire team provides the focused attention he thrives on, ensuring he feels special every day. The office manager is also a pleasure to work with, always available to seamlessly handle our funding and extra care requirements.

I could not recommend Ashby Nursery School enough to anyone looking for the best early years education for their child. From the moment of settling, staff have been so hands on and catered to all my child's needs. They are so friendly and welcoming, and nothing is ever too much for them. My child has
developed massively since coming to the nursery. She is always so happy to go in the mornings and loves being there. Management are amazing help, the office manager spoke to me through my funding, and the manager helped me with all my queries, responding fast and no issue was too much.

Amazing nursery/ pre school our son has thrived massively since starting full time last year. Massive support from the office team for helping us figure out funding for when I start maternity leave next year, they have helped massively with showing us the different information when it comes to changing
his days and funding.

Ashby pre school academy is amazing!! My son loves it there, he has developed so many friendships since starting in August and is always talking about school. The staff are amazing, they know him so well - it really does feel like they are part of the family. Nothing is ever too much trouble and they
always have time to discuss how he is developing. The management team are incredible, very helpful and were so reassuring when I was nervous about leaving my son. Parent partnership is just on another level! My son recently took part in singing for the Christmas lights switch on and has also taken part in a nativity play, it was the most joyous thing to watch and the whole family loved it! Would recommend the pre school to anyone looking for a setting for their child.

We recently moved to the area and our son started in the toddler room. Before we even arrived the nursery supported us with extra settling sessions due to a delay in moving and were flexible on when he'd actually start. They couldn't have done more to be welcoming and he flourished from the moment he
started.


He has transitioned into the preschool academy within a few months of moving and our experience has been nothing short of brilliant. All the staff are so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It is clear from the nursery management that they take training of their staff seriously and include them in how the curriculum is developed.


Another point to make is how well prepared they are for any dietary requirements. There is always something similar that he has so he doesn't feel left out.


My son chats about his friends from nursery and the staff even at the weekends. It's clear he loves his time there. One of the best decisions we made was moving to Ashby, and Ashby Day Nursery.

We couldn't be happier with the care and support our daughter has received at Ashby Day Nursery. From the very beginning, we were impressed by the number of settling-in sessions offered before she officially started. These sessions really helped her feel confident and comfortable.
The nursery itself
is always clean and tidy and the staff of the staff are welcoming, friendly and approachable and will go out of their way to help. They know our daughter so well and are genuinely invested in each child's wellbeing and development.
Communication is also outstanding - we receive regular updates and information that keep us well-informed of what's happening. We also recently attended an open evening for the preschool. It gave us all the information we needed and further reassured us that we have chosen an excellent place for our daughter. She is so happy here.
We're so grateful to have found such a supportive and high-quality setting for our daughter. Thank you to all staff.

Love this preschool! We moved our daughter to Ashby Day in May 2025, following a series of issues at the nursery we initially sent her to. The manager and the team couldn't have been more welcoming, and supported our daughter (and us) with her transition to preschool and have helped undo some of the
damage from nursery. It's a work in progress, and given the great communication we have with the manager and the whole team, as well as their focus on my daughter, I'm comfortable that my daughter's development and happiness is going in the right direction.

Our toddler has recently started at Ashby Day Nursery and my husband and I are over the moon with the amazing care from the staff! He has been so well looked after right from his first settling in session. He now says 'bye bye Mummy' so happily when I drop him off and his speech and communication has
come on massively since starting. There's a great variety of toys and activities available inside and outside. Communication from Nursery is incredible too with any reminders on the app and we really like having the opportunity to chat with staff before and after dropping him off. Staff are so friendly and approachable. We love seeing photographs too on the app, they really make us smile. Thank you to the managers and staff at this fantastic Nursery, we're so pleased our son has joined :-)

Our daughter has been attending for the last few months now and has settled in fantastically. She always gets excited to go in and always has a smile on her face when we receive updates/pictures via the app. Great activities, fantastic food options. Our daughter has come on leaps and bounds since joining

Kerry Nettel

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2008

Kerry began working at Ashby Nursery School 15 years ago after completing her student placement there. She gained her foundation degree in Children’s and Young People’s Services (Early Years) and worked her way up to nursery manager. Kerry also has a Forest School qualification and loves being outdoors. Kerry encourages the team to adopt a hands-on approach, as she feels that this is the best way for children to learn.


In 2022, Kerry was awarded Nursery Practitioner of the Year at the NMT awards which was one of many highlights of her career so far.
